I don't think I ever said or even intended to imply that Force Awakens was ONLY for 14 year old girls - or that it wasn't for adult males either.

I just mentioned that the Movie has an appeal to those girls. and that is likely because of the female protagonist but not exclusively so either.

Image

Neither do I feel a need to "accept" the EU is dead or never discuss anything related to or derived from it - I'm hardly unique in the mind set that regardless of what Disney say the EU stands "in Universe" until contradicted otherwise.

To do otherwise is to pretend some pretty silly things like Sith came out of nowhere sometime prior to 100BBY.

You people seem to act like I'm saying some things controversial - I'm the most reasonable person you can find - the only thing that some might wish to say is me being unreasonable is my attestation that Episode 8 & 9 will be considered a disappointment to me if they don't explain themselves somewhat better than Episode 7 does.

I could be way nastier about The Force Awakens - but why bother - I'm speaking to the converted here - I don't have any strong feelings towards it It is just one of those things that happened and time to move on - like Terminator sequels I'm not offended they exist.

But the analogy here is like saying to someone they must hate the Age of Ultron as they point out that Ultron' s character birth and evolution and motivations at points in the movie are a bit sketchy. Likewise The Force Awakens is a Movie that also fails to explain itself enough it's all well and good following the principle of "Show don't tell" - but it's not so great if you leave your audience with a great many questions and then have a track record as a studio for not often answering them in other franchises.

That is a enough I would say to maintain a feeling of reasonable concern for the future but is in no way implied to be hatred of the movie or a desire to "hang on" to the EU.

Which incidentally >IF< I wanted to do that I'd hardly be on my own fan wise.

Also I don't see why I've done anything wrong by providing a link to a site with a collection of Starfighters and Space craft or a video about atypical Star Wars Spacecraft and suggesting something along similar lines would be nice to see in future mediums.

How is either of those things in anyway supposed to be taken as an attack on The Force Awakens or some mortal sing of failing to let go - I frankly can not even contemplate explaining.

If you can please do.

Oh, don't worry, I have a pretty good memory for this sort of thing. You did that in this quote:

RAR wrote:Force Awakens as it stands is terrific if you are a 14 Year old Girl - it's ideal material for them - great for the YA crowd, but boy it is disenfranchising for anyone "Old school" who was expecting something other than a stealth remake.

Something of interest as you don't get much of a look at them in the Actual Movie.

No explicit judgement is to be implied on the content on my part.

I will however post this as there is some good editing and visual gags in it that may amuse some - regardless of if one agree's with the premise or not.

So just for fun...

at one point in the episode Sabine says she's from Clan Ren! any chance this could be related to Kylo? even though the show is set decades before Kylo was even conceived

Coincidence, probably. Especially considering I doubt a group of Dark Jedi like the Knights of Ren would have that level of attachment to Mandalorians.

So take it for what it is, a rumor. An awesome one if it does happen but we'll have ot wait and see. If this does happen, if he doesn't die during Rebels or Rouge One, he could appear in the new trilogy unless it is confirmed he dies before The Force Awakens.

hmmm sounds interesting! one thing that's not mentioned is that there's to be a Rogue One tie in episode! seeing how they both happen around the same time period.

as for speculation....maybe Han will put in an appearance? since we've now got Liea showing up

as for Snoke turning up in it? hmmmm....it's early days....too soon to say for sure!

Given his history with clones, he could be connected to Snoke who is a clone of someone (Vader, Palpatine) himself ... :-?

A slightly odd question here.

Has anyone got any books with X-Wing Cutaways or diagrams in them ?

I noticed something a bit odd today... I always thought the layout of an X-wing was something like this.

The nose is mainly sensors and the subspace antennae the underside is weapons. The hyperdrive and S-foil Motivators are behind the cockpit as is some of the secondary navigation stuff.

So looking at the diagrams and the like I had 2 odd thoughts.

1) The torpedoes are they stored forwards of the launchers and pushed backwards and down to be fired (I see some slight discrepancies here in some diagrams they are in the rear belly between the wings) - which is where Luke seems to be getting his equipment from in Episode V.

No more odd I guess than having landing gear in the middle of the engine nacelles is when it's some sort of turbine engine.

2) The other thought is - if you loose your artoo Unit are you screwed or does the ship retain an emergency "find it's way home function" ?

As boy would it be inconvenient if Artoo had been eaten by a lake Monster Luke would have been stuck with Yoda until someone came looking for him - which might have been a very very long time - as the people who knew where he was going had their own problems at the time.

The other final odd little X-wing related thought I had was - would they burn up if they lost shield function when entering an atmosphere or do they get around it by flying slow enough to not super-heat.

As Luke to a few seconds to decent to Degobah and yet was effected by storms as if he didn't have his shields up - should Starfighter shield provide 100% protection against bad weather - aside from maybe really strong windsheer.

Speaking of Books There is a good book called "Star wars Blueprints" - I've seen that one sale in reduced book stores lately - looks like a good purchase if you like your Star Wars text books.

The other interesting quirkly little observation I would offer is that when I was reserching Astromech droids loads of them and I mean LOADS of them are Orange - which is kind of amusing as BB-8 sort of look fresh if not quite unique by not being the more immediately Obvious colours like Black/white/blue sometimes the red sort of tones.. but some deeper research shows orange ones might actually be the most common colour of all Astromech across the franchise (that is if it's not black and white which is also a very common colour scheme).

Which I was rather surprised by to be honest by both things the number of partly Orange ones and the large number of ones that are mainly black and white or close to it.

As it turns out it's Artoo who is actually one of the more unusual colour ways by virtue of being blue - along with magenta or green also being less common colours.

In the EU books Han and Leia had twins, Jacen and Jaina and then Anakin.

Jacen didn't so much go to the dark side, he allied himself with the remnants of the Empire and did what he felt was necessary to fight the Yuuzhan Vong. His intentions were in the right place, fuelled by the grief of Anakin being killed by the Yuuzhan Vong.

Jaina meanwhile remained on the light side and became the polar opposite of her twin.

*puts on nerd and robe*

Actually, Throughout the Vong war, Jacen stayed pretty much a pillar of light. It wasn't until the second Galactic Civil War was getting ready to start that he turned to the dark side. He saw that is the only way to prevent the Galaxy descending into in this war, and keep his daughter safe.

The EU was starting to peeve me off when it did a couple of things.
Firstly have Luke lie to and manipulate Jaina into killing her brother - while also showing her like some kind of crazy person trying to kill him without even talking to him.

Poor Jacen His Aunt tries to kill him and he sort of "accidentally" killed her while trying to not die as she was trying to kill him.

All Jacen's issues could have been resolved with a bit of trust and love instead Luke and his Chronies went full on crazy at him.

Then when Jacen tries to speak to Luke from beyond the grave - Luke just brushes him off. It makes Luke like a complete jerk... it seemed like they were pussy footing around making Luke go dark - then chickened out.

The only time Jacen did himself no great favours was in the way he was trying to manipulate his kin and Cousin in to helping him out and wasn't exactly tactful about it.
Ordering Anakin Jnr's Old kinda GF into murdering someone didn't exactly help matters either.

But ultimately I can't blame Jacen to much for his family being a bunch of bigoted idiots. Then Luke acted just as dumb with the Neo-Sith as well.

I feel there is a fillfull blindness to understand The Sith, they just have to demonise them for "feeling things" while pretending to themselves the Jedi feel nothing (yeah like normal people are Zen 24-7) Obi-Wan Kenobi certainly wasn't he just thought that Killing Children was going a bit to far - otherwise he's just as emotional as Anakin - just in a less whiny way.

But then yu have to wonder what kind of trouble a ends justify the means kind of guy like Qui Gon would cause if he was the typical Jedi model... (well he's less of a jerk than EU Luke - Luke often kills people for no reason Qui Gon just tries to cheat people out of credits).

There is a element of "Point of view" to all this the remains of the Empire wouldn't be wrong to colour Luke as the Murder of Thousands of admin staff on the Death Star for example. they'd not be lying if they said he was a terrorist and mass murderer - even if they themselves had just blown up Alderaan I guess does make the attestation of that a wee bit of a stretch.

The Empire's PR department must surely have face palmed when they found out they actually used the Death Star on one of the most well know systems in the Galaxy.

Seems like a pretty silly way to run a galaxy to me - when Palpatine was doing so well with the long cons to start getting all Jack booty about things 19 years later seems odd

Sorry I was implying Tahiri Vaila with Kin I just couldn't remember how to spell it so I side stepped it - it was her I was talking about though. ( I'd say she's to close to the Skywalker-Solo Family to be considered Kith even though she's not related to them by blood or Marriage the Solo's sort of adopted her and treat her as is she was their daughter in law - even if she wasn't).

She is a very good example though of how someone can come through OK in the end if supported - rather than trying to attack and blame them - Tahiri was forgiven her crimes, Jacen wasn't.

No real reason why other than who was in charge at the time I guess. Not that I'm saying Jacen was blameless - Killing Boba Fett's estranged 'Wife' was pretty stupid and ultimately bit him on the backside.
