Most got their repaints except that white tank guy. So your argument is invalid.

I'm waiting for the Jiaxus repaint. Maybe they'll just do a "dark" version and call it a day.

Don't Torca and Sky Shadow have repaints that were show characters in Japan? That's how Tasmania Kid/Snarl got into next year's mainline roster.

I should have prefaced that the Snarl was I referring to was the Dinobot. Namesakes in the franchise can be such a headache at times...
Doesn't really change my point that the BW designs that were toy-only in the US but show characters in Japan are clearly on the table, which does include those exact Fuzors.

AllNewSuperRobot wrote:Yet we are all well aware of the fate of the Weaponisers and Modulators.
Modulators did badly, yes, since they all turned into literal bricks and were mostly dependent upon and made to interact with the already poorly-performing Micromasters, but I don't know why you brought up the Weaponizers? Those did well, to the point that Fasttrack and Slammer managed to sneak into the later parts of the trilogy even when they had mostly moved on to Modulators/Fossilizers.

They are not the same. Just as Cybershark isn't Sky-Byte. Spittor isn't Diver. Iguanus isn't Crazybolt etc, etc The Takara Series repurposed versions of toy-only characters are just that. Except with worse names. It is the equivalent of saying Delta Magnus represents Ultra Magnus.

For the same reason. We are a couple lines beyond WFC now. Neither show any signs of being adapted into the wider line, long term. They have both become the Mini-Cons of the WFC line.

I'd argue that the weaponizers were evolved into the junkions. Also Delta Magnus represents Shattered Glass Magnus clearly ;)

First of all, some of them are exactly the same, you just cherry-picked a bunch of examples that aren't. For example, Apache is the exact same as B'Boom, Scuba is the exact same as Claw Jaw, Tasmanina Kid is the exact same as Snarl, Scissor Boy is the exact same as Powerpinch, and Latolata...is allegedly different from Injector, but it's such a minimal difference that I doubt HasTak would make 2 separate figures.

Second, I know that Delta Magnus and Ultra Magnus are not the same guy, I never said they weren't. However, it cannot be argued that because Ultra Magnus is a prevalent TF show/media character, he gets new molds dedicated to himself, and every time that happens it opens the door for a potential new Delta Magnus to go along with him, which is how we just got a new Delta Magnus via Shattered Glass. This is known fact of how HasTak operates, this is nothing new. Therefore, by that same logic, any BW mold that was toy-only in the US but had at least one of it's decos be used as a show character in Japan can get a new mold dedicated to it by first releasing as that specific show character, and then all the other versions of it are on the table as exclusives/repaints, toy-only or not.

So yes Cybershark isn't Sky-Byte, but new Sky-Byte is both likely and brings with it the avenue for new Cybershark, thereby making Cybershark possible despite his lack of media. Same with Crazybolt and Iguanus, same with Diver and Spittor, and same with (as I originally mentioned) Elphaorpha and Torca, and Drancron and Sky Shadow.

Not only is ZeroWolf absolutely right in that the gimmick has 100% persisted despite the figures not specifically being called Weaponizers, but also they're still making Weaponizer repaints? We just got Red Cog last year.

Also I love that you tried to extend this nonsensical argument to the Minicons as well and Hasbro themselves immediately shot that down with their SDCC reveals faster than I ever could.

The Ultimate Transformer!

One of the recurring themes of Transformers I've always enjoyed is that of escalation. We start at scouts and infiltrators. This soon gives way to Gestalts, Multi-Formers, City Bots and eventually transforming Planets. Meanwhile the escalation also evolved smaller too. Guns, Heads, ...Power sources, Armour etc They all took on life of their own too.

So firmly in this camp of TF's HasTak will never make, a bot that encompasses all of those small scale innovations. A Powerlinx/Duocon body, with a Headmaster. Armed with a Targetmaster (or two) alongside Weaponiser Armour and equipped with a Powermaster to connect them all to the core body. In essence, a mini-combiner. But scaled in-line with the deluxe sized bots.

So basically, a transformer Matryoshka dolls team. I once suggested it too. From the smallest to the biggest:

-- The standard titan/prime Master into->
-- The Prime Master "pretender shell" that is also a targetmaster into -->
-- A deluxe.

Now, do this again.

Thake the two deluxes and you can combine them as a duocon/powerlinx.

Now, take my previous takes and multiply by SIX.

Take those 6 teams and make a big-ass combiner.

And now, to push things even further, the whole combiner will then be the core bot of a transformers that will be as big as HALSAB Unicron! :michaelbay:

Going one step further than that. Taking a cue from Marvel Legends Build A Figure line. How about a line of bots, that makes someone? Not as a combiner. But, for example: Tidal Wave.

Image

Instead of the "dreaded" Partsformer? We have four bots with distinct altmodes that are also quarters of Tidal Wave. That also form his altmode, when combined into him.

I can see it happening. It would be even more perfect if ALL the combiner components would bee fully integrated into the bots, no partforming at all. That includes the hands and feet.

I've mentioned before that I'm not keen on the newer combiners coming with separate hands and feet. Maybe instead, if integrating those components isn't en vogue. They just don't have conventional hands and feet?

Making feet is easy enough with the vehicle parts. Hands are a bit more touchy. One could be a conventional hand and the other could be a claw or a gun à la Omega Supreme. The only disadvantage of such a design is that each members have their own specific spot in the combiner and any "scrambling citying" would be impossible. That's what it would take to have a PERFECT giant robot.

Also, the joints would be SOLID and the combiner would not ragdoll pathetically on the ground like most CW combiners do when trying to make just some basic poses.

That bug combiner would be awesome if they ever remake it in Legacy.
Especially because the original is so damn expensive.

It's funny to think I paid the same for both BW combiners (£30, each) that I paid for TM 2 Megatron and Tigerhawk, back in the day.

I've said before that any potential Tridpredacus redux also has redeco/retool potential as the Deluxe Insecticons:

Venom - Cicadacon
Barrage - Ram Horn
Chop Shop - Extensive retool of Sea Clamp. Possibly some shared engineering with Ram Horn.
Ransack - New addition ala Transmetal 2 Scourge

Stardrive is a relatively recent character and didn't make any appearances outside of the comics.
The character would have to do more before having a movie about themselves.

Granted, the Energon ones weren't integrated, but that was hardly the issue people had with them which lead people to buying third party upgrade kits with proper hands. The hands weren't exactly the biggest problem with PCC, but they sure didn't improve them.

TulioDude wrote:Do you guys think they will remake every minicon, but with a peg instead of hole?

I doubt they'll do more than there are partners to pair them up with. At best they might do the Perceptor trio, Star Saber and Dark Saber trios, Skyboom Shield trio and Requiem Blaster trio as Deluxes.

Combiners are an ultimate game of give and take: if you want to integrate a certain part a certain way, compromises must be made. The ultimate example IMO? Generations FoC Bruticus:

I want to use FoC Ruination originally because of his switched configuration, but he has no Gallery...

Scramble plus integration? All members the same size? See a potential result.

- TR Galvatron right arm (the gun one)
- CW Brake-Neck/UW Wildrider, CW Offroad
- TR Twinferno & Grotusque
- Greenlight, Lancer and PotP Elita-1 (plus repro Victorion hands and feet?)

The glaring flaw of FOC Bruticus was the fact that Onslaught was a deluxe. If he'd be a big voyager like they did at the time, the whole combiner would have been much, MUCH better.

They worked because the entire figures are unconventional. I think they'd be a little strange with normal hands.

You know... I'm a pretty big Metroid fan. I'd say that that series is my #2 favorite video game franchise ever, right behind the Xeno series (Gears/Saga/Blade).

With that said, I'm still a little salty that this Lego set didn't get approved a few years ago, despite the fan support behind it:

Metroid has experienced a bit of a surge in popularity recently, what with the success of Dread and the remaster of the original Metroid Prime - not to mention the fact that Metroid Prime 4 is still believed to be on its way. While musing about some Metroid-related thoughts earlier today, I stumbled upon this image:

I mean, we've already had Transformers figures that transformed from famous Star Wars vehicles into the characters - why can't we have a Transformer for Samus Aran where she transforms into her Gunship? She's even been referred to in source material before ( https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Samus_Aran ) - it really seems like it writes itself!

But... yeah. Metroid is still far from being as recognizable as Mario, or even The Legend of Zelda. If Lego didn't (and still doesn't) see money in Metroid, then I doubt that Hasbro will either.

So it's not likely to ever happen. But a man can dream :BANG_HEAD: ...

My thinking for these came both in response to the recent Nemesis figure and Super7's (expensive, yet fully backed) Thundercats Cats Lair.

If some collectors lines might be priced out of doing the larger or less conventional playsets. Why not split the difference and cross them over with Transformers? I missed out the obvious USS Flagg=Broadside because I think I've mentioned that mash up before. Ignoring other static bases that wouldn't really include mobile play features.
