My only problem with MM is the messed up ratchets in his hips, which was eventually fixed (or so is said) in later shipments. Not so bad on he himself, but it really makes Mensor unstable unless you do some alternate configurations to ameliorate the issue. Given how Ultra Prime winds up with the exact same problem, it's hard to knock just him for the issue.

Jetfire isn't perfect and definitely has some (MINOR) issues, but it's still one of the greatest TF's of all time. Haters can suck my tailpipe.

Have they ever seen them in the cartoon or the g1 figures? If they didn't have jet backpack syndrome they'd be all wrong. It's part of the characters' intrinsic design.

Beast Wars Transmetal Scavenger. That guy is the bestest most underrated toy ever. I frikkin love this figure, but he was a shelfwarmer back in the day.

In fact, I made a whole thread just to talk about it. It's been dead for a few years, but it's worth a look.

Sorry I didn't bring this up sooner, Will. Like I said, it's been dead for a few years and I forgot about it.
Back at it again!

I don't think that's really a fair call to say that Scavenger or any BW Megas were underrated. A lot of BW Megas were really cool and fun. It's just that several of them had the misfortune of ending up as shelfwarmers. Inferno, B'Boom, Transquito, Scavenger, there was just so much stock of them for sale left over. I guess everyone who wanted them got one while the stores simply bought too many of each of them. ;)

Like the overrated topic, I can neither agree nor disagree with you list, William. ;) But again, the facts you lay out are well thought-out and done nicely. So again kudos to you there.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

Didn't help that only a few were actually featured in the show. Scorponok sold well, Inferno picked up eventually, and of course TM Optimus and Megatron sold easily enough. But the others, especially B'Boom and Transquito, sold terribly. I have to wonder if naming Scavenger Inferno would have done anything for his sales?

Seems Scavenger wasn't named "Inferno" because of how the Inferno toy was still shelfwarming. I guess Hasbro didn't want two toys of the same character in the same size class on the shelves at the same time.

Did Inferno really sell that badly? I don't remember seeing too many of them back in the day and they certainly weren't lingering with B'Boom and Transquito. Was he re-released with one of them, they were around forever? I don't think anything sold worse than the BM Megas, nobody wanted a tiny Megatron, a lanky Cheetor, and a green Rattrap. Tankor sold alright while BP Optimus Prime may as well have been a KB exclusive, you couldn't buy him anywhere else.

I concur on BM Megs, he was the only one left long after that line was over. I know because I went to the store with my mom looking for a TF and that was the only one from the beast era left so I took it (and didnt like it). The other ones that lingered at other places were TM2 Scourge and TM Inferno. Dont remember the others.

I completely passed on BM Megatron, how could I ever buy that after getting massive TM2 Megatron? BM Cheetor I bought on sight and actually like his cheetah mode. BM Rattrap I would have passed on, but I found him on clearance at Walmart so I got him (rat mode is OK, but that's all). BM BP Primal I got at KB Toys like everyone else, for years I thought he was an exclusive, but no, that's just where Hasbro decided to dump them at the tail end of the line.

Seems Scavenger wasn't named "Inferno" because of how the Inferno toy was still shelfwarming. I guess Hasbro didn't want two toys of the same character in the same size class on the shelves at the same time.

Or rather the same assortment. Size Classes were still new at the time and designating them went a bit... haphazard going into the second year. Long story short, Transmetal Optimus Primal, Megatron and Scavenger were put in the regular Beast assortment instead a separate one like the Deluxe and Ultra Transmetals (the Fuzors were put with the regular assortments). That would have meant that "Inferno" would have indeed shown up twice, as a regular Beast and as a Transmetal, had the latter's name not been changed.
In fact, looking at the names assigned to assortment codes, only a single name is repeated: Cheetor, as the Deluxe Transmetals and Transmetal 2 shares the same code.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one
