Always thought HasTak 1.0 Astrotrain had too many boxy looking robot body parts.

While Generations Blitzwing might be acceptable for a HasTak toy. I just don't like the toy in any of the modes. Hoping a 3rd party makes a better Masterpiece styled Blitzwing toy.

I just hate that train mode on the classics figure. I get that it's an update but it's not very imaginative since it's front ends up looking a lot like the fron of the shuttle. And the back of that train
It's also much smaller than I'd like Astrotrain to be. This guy here though is pretty much perfect, especially since I actually love that colour scheme and can put him next to my G1 Astrotrain to show the evolution of the engineering with both of them having the same colour scheme.

Oh, I don't disagree with you at all. I like that Classics is an updated bullet train. I like how the shuttle looks and that they kept the overall G1ish look in bot mode. But, I can definitely see the love for this Toyworld guy, especially if someone has a personal connection to the G1 toy.

Thanks, and I can totally get behind the classics toys' Robot mode. It is impressive that Hasbro was able to pull it off when the figure also included two updated alt modes .

You also have to keep in mind that Classics Astrotrain was one of the first Classics figures, and still managed to be a fun, deluxe triple changer. The mold definitely has its shortcomings, especially compared to the Generations figures we have today, but that Astrotrain has his merits.

Very good point.

I have a particular fondness for that figure as it was one of the ones that got me back into collecting Transformers, and it was one of the first Takara releases I sought out and bought.

But as a character, he needs an update.
Like the seeker mold, that figure really shows its age.

Chimungmung.com has TW Devilstar as listed in stock and ship now status.

:-? Wonder how long it will take some American based import sites to receive TW Devilstar. :???: Hopefully it's only One or Two weeks.

It took most American Import sites Five Weeks to Receive TW Infinitor, After Chimung had it in stock for over Five weeks. Wondering if Chimung gets a few weeks exclusive selling rights from TW. Perhaps overseas shipping or The Christmas season shipping slowed down the release.

It was odd seeing Some American sites get MP Bumblebee in stock the same week that most overseas sites got it in stock. Thinking All of these sites received the item weeks before release date but were not allowed to sell the toy until the official street release date.

I bought him but told them to wait before Apollyon gets in so they can ship them together. Gonna be a really fun package.

For something thats supposed to be so vintage toy accurate, why the hell is the train black ? And where are the comparison shots with blitzwing ? It seems like they are purposely avoiding that money shot. Fears that its too big to scale with blitzwing, but too small to scale with MP figures and they know it. I want to see the cartoon version. Maybe darker colors and no tampo decals can help me unsee that ugly chest wing. Yo Toyword...news flash: the G1 cartoon animators took out the chest wing because it looked that stupid. Really...

Think ToyWorld is going for more comic book accuracy than anything. I guess IDW portrayed Astrotrain with his chest wings more often than not so . . . yeah.

I do agree though . . . it does look kinda dumb.

Devilstar is colored in Vintage Takara 1985 Astrotrain toy colors.

Rated X wrote:And where are the comparison shots with blitzwing ? It seems like they are purposely avoiding that money shot. Fears that its too big to scale with blitzwing,

Doing a comparison like that shot makes no sense. As 30th Blitzwing is not a MP styled toy.

Would rather 3rd parties created MP styled Blitzwing toys that were Leader class. Instead of placing TW Devilstar or DX9 Chigurh on the same shelf with CHUG Blitzwing.

Rated X wrote:but too small to scale with MP figures and they know it.

According to TW and Chimung, Devilstar will have a 8.9 inch tall robot mode. Devilstar will scale perfectly with the Eight inch MP Seekers, 9.4 inch MP-10 and 9.5 inch Appoloyn.

G1 Cartoon Astrotrain was a pinch shorter than Megatron and Optimus in the cartoon episodes.

Rated X wrote:I want to see the cartoon version. Maybe darker colors and no tampo decals

Guessing Anime colors are coming. As TW probably needs to recoup the production cost of this toy.

Rated X wrote: can help me unsee that ugly chest wing. Yo Toyword...news flash: the G1 cartoon animators took out the chest wing because it looked that stupid. Really...

If that's the only negative this toy has, Then it's doing well. Can probably easily remove the chest wing and set it aside if it bothers you.

Yup, but only the train mode, the rest is based on the Hasbro version of the toy:

Devilstar's space ship wings are white not purple like the Hasbro toy version. Devilstar's rocketboosters are also black not purple like the Hasbro toy version.
Image

Devilstar's space ship mode appear to be colored in both Hasbro and Takara Astrotrain G1 toy colors.

Think Devilstar's robot mode is colored more like the Takara G1 toy.
Image

Colored less like the Hasbro G1 robot toy.
Image

Noticed most of the colored purple parts on Devilstars robot mode. Were not on the Takara or Hasbro G1 Astrotrain toy. Most notable the Vintage toy does not have any feet.

Image

:-? Did notice TW, Colored Devilstar's weapons in the Hasbro G1 Astrotrain toy colors.

Mostly what I want are the show colors. But I'd also be down for a version in the "real world" colors a la the original Takara version.

I'll be skipping this odd mix of colors, but will be awaiting the inevitable repaints.

But in that case, then the purple panels in the space ship mode are not needed elsewhere right? Because those seem to me to be the biggest recall to the original hasbro toy. They could have made those (and theg un) black and it would have been a complete homage to the takara release instead right?

Aside from death and taxes, nothing is 100% inevitable. ;)
But I strongly suspect these repaints to happen.
