As someone speculated that Wideload may now be an FP Cruiser, Im betting theyle go with that metallic effect plastic Rollbar came in, but in a dark/burnt orange of course?

I don't think "neo" is the issue here. I suspect they're shooting for some sort of reasonable scale. A Corvette doesn't scale at all with a Jeep and a VW Beetle. It's way too long. I'm personally glad they're going this route. I hate the idea of super-deformed looking cars just to make the G1 minibots' modern versions look "G1". Make em' full sized or change the alt modes, please. That's why iGear got 0 of my dollars for their minibots. They look like crap in alt mode.

But the real issue is the gestalt feature kind of screwed up everything and forced them to go neo. Searchlight became a mini SUV on the sole basis that he has to turn into a "boot" to match Rollbar. They fooled us by releasing Rollbar first and probally had everyone thinking they were all going to be G1 accurate. You cant tell me Grind Rod's jeep mode isnt fairly the same as Rollbar's G1 jeep mode. Then they came out with Aurora and I was like F**K....NEO !!!

I get everything you are saying except for the part that they fooled us into buying all of these by releasing Rollbar first. It's not like they are twisting our arm to buy these or that another 3rd party is releasing the Throttlebots in the near future and you have to choose between a toy maker like the Predacons.

Um...I'm pretty sure the Jeep Liberty wasn't around in the late 1980s.
(While both are Jeeps, there are distinctive differences between the Jeep CJ and the Liberty. Depending on where your tastes are for what qualifies as "Neo," the argument could be made for Rollbar to Grind Rod too, though not as drastic as the other two so far.)

I guess with these, for me, it's less about them being updated Throttlebots and more about just really cool, playable Transforming modern cars, most of which are small SUVs, which there are not a lot of on the market (to my knowledge).
Considering how much Classics has already varied from the originals, I personally actually prefer Neo designs (and pick up originals on eBay for less money when I want to old designs).

I see where you’re coming from. But I guess I’m more in it for cartoon accurate look. Sure the mini bots G1 toys were weird chubby cars. But that’s the way they were in cartoon so I’m ok with it. For me “updating” a G1 figure means giving it advanced articulation and a slightly more advanced transformation. In other words, turning a brick into a real action figure. I stand by my beliefs that neo alt modes are simply a marketing ploy to sell G1 characters to today’s kids who can’t relate to 80’s vehicles. So when 3rd parties that are supposed to be catering to adults follow Hasbro’s lead and make kid friendly “cool” alt modes, I find it a bit annoying. It’s not a deal breaker, but it’s not super appealing to me either. Especially when it’s taken to the extreme where the colors are the only thing that makes it a homage (Hence FP Downforce and Last Chance)

I was born in the very early seveties, so being aware of cars from the eighties is a given, as many will agree.

I was born in the very early seveties, so being aware of cars from the eighties is a given, as many will agree.

I get you for sure. I was born in the mid 70's myself. It's very hard for me to adjust to aerodynamic styling. But I like the way the cons alt modes dont change too much. Fighter planes and tanks havent evolved as much as cars have. Thats a good thing.

yep! I can stand him up next to Monstrous and Puzzler .Of course I won't though, because I will not be combining my Throttlebots (OK, sure, I'll try it *once* just to see what it looks like).
Trace is still expected this month, right? I sure hope he makes it into my POL soon. Of course I'm still waiting on Waspinator and Rhinox to show up too before I can ship the thing.

Wow, looks like there might be some QC issues here. (I haven't watched the video yet, maybe they are addressed?) But this one doesn't appear to be a QC issue. It looks like it is by design...

Really looking forward to this guy, though I am a little concerned with the size difference shown in the pics (I don't care about robot mode differences, but like them to be in scale in vehicle mode) and the fact that we haven't seen any protos for the next one yet.
