Well... JetOptimus is not so wrong. I think the TF movie series has taken a wrong road with ROTF, by including TF in humans military forces.
The idea of transformers could have more amazing developments because the same ieda of being a transformers means being hidden, moving stealth... Form ROTF tfs are not anymore a secret for mankind, so they become robots or sci-fi characters like many others.
I think this is a limit that can't be taken over by authors. And this is the reason why I would not appreciate a "Transformers begin" movie on Cyberton: it would be just a "comic" movie, not much more.

Personally I thought these films handeled the "robots in disguise" thing rather well in it's own way. I find it hard to believe that the military wouldn't get involved with fighting off an evil alien force and frankly, trying to remain stealthy when your combat is between 30+ foot high war machines is gonna fall apart eventually. It would just be a matter of time before the rest of humanity found out, and RotF portrayed that with the Transformers being the latest "UFO craze" ala the 1950's.
That and the Transformers being overt in their actions was well handeled in Animated I believe. I'm anticipating how it's portrayed in DotM as well now that the Fallen ratted on the Autobots with his worldwide broadcast.

Transformers hasnt descended to bats and robin level, and dotm doesnt look that bad, so the appetite for an ultra serious rebirth is probably not there
Yes even though RotF got alot of critical flak it was still enjoyed by most everyone who saw it. Conversely Batman and Robin is pretty much universally hated, so a reboot at that point was inevitable. I just wish Nolan had stuck with more of the elements he did in Batman Begins rather than dive off the "ultra realistic" deep end with The Dark Knight. Such realism is frankly bad for Transformers, because realism and transforming alien robots can only go hand in hand to such a degree. I believe we saw Bay push those limits with the new designs, and anything further would cause a flame war of apocalyptic proportions.

Good God no! Nolan's the kind of director you do not want taking on your beloved franchise. The moment he got more creative control than he should have over the Batman series he turned it into a anvilicious social commentary rather than what it is, a comic book movie. While a little more depth in the Transformers movies couldn't hurt Nolan would unfortunately add depth to the point of pretention and self serving idealism.
.
I think what Nolan did with Batman was freakin' brilliant compared to what Bryan Singer did with the X-men and Superman. Only Singer could make a Superman movie the most boring thing in the world.

While I liked the first two X-men films I agree the third and Superman Returns were crap. Mind you Singer didn't direct the third one because he was directing Superman at the time. I still think Zach Snyder would be best for a new run of Transformers films. If Hasbro would insist on the "gritty" look so many reboots are getting he can pull it off and keep the over the top fantastic nature the franchise tends to have.

It would be cool to see a prequel to the first movie, to show what happened before they came to Earth.
