Saw AoE of Thursday, despite my reservations. Yes, it was exactly as I expected, the usual dumb humour, lack of coherent story and outrageous, over-the top action with superhuman individuals that can survive more punishment than most Transformers. I was pretty much exhausted by movies' end, the action was unrelenting. But my nephew wanted to see it, so I grudgingly went along.
This clip reminded me of one of the more noteworthy points mentioned in the film which left me simply dumbfounded: in AoE, they say it's been 3 years since the battle in Chicago that left 1300 people dead. Thirteen-hundred. Are they insane? The level of destruction in Dark of the Moon visited upon an unsuspecting city full of people with no time to escape, it's citizens actively pursued by hundreds of hostile Decepticons with presumably un-evactuated skyscrapers getting blown up, some even collapsing, while random people are being vapourised on the streets and ONLY 1300 dead? Honestly, I'd like to spend a day with Michael Bay, just to try and figure out first hand what on Earth goes on (or doesn't go on, as the case may be) in that vacant head of his.
