But maybe that’s just me.

Of course we all know that was just Alpha Strike trying to cover his own arse.

Aw no need to call out the older animated fans. I felt the same about people who liked Beast Machines but I eventually got over it. This reminds me of a magazine quote referring to fans who call out other fans for similar reasons:
"Let's say that you consider yourself a fan of something non game related, like ham sandwiches. Imagine that you start a conversation about them at a social function, but the person you are talking to just happens to be the Midwest's leading ham sandwich expert. He haughtily declares that your love of ham sandwiches could never be as deep and abiding as his, and because you canot discuss the finer points of hickory-smoked vs. honey-glazed, you have no business calling yourself a fan. Does some high-falootin' snob have a right to tell you that you lack sufficient knowledge to like a sandwich? Of course not, and the same rules apply to gaming.
Just because your friends can't tell you the year the Philosophers officially became the Patriots or the identity of Ocelot's mother doesn't mean they can't enjoy Metal Gear Solid 3. People play games for different reasons and appreciate them on different levels"
Now replace the game references with Transformer ones. It kinda fits huh? Might put it in my sig.

It did get me some strange looks from my kids the first time I sat and watched the show with them (they don't live with me) and Dad was laughing when no "obvious" jokes were made but when I reminded them about the characters in the G1 movie they got it. Now my youngest son DVR's it so that I can watch it with him and point stuff out. Because of this, he's becoming a fan of everything Transformers, not just A.E.C., TFA or the Movie.
I think the "cameos" serve more than just being an amusing tribute to the G1 fans for those that are willing to take proper advantage of their placement in the show.

How do you get Comic-con in Detroit? Comic-con is held in San Diego.

We have it in Ann Arbor, Mi but I don't know if they still do as I have never gotten a chance to go. Pretty sure we do. I was talking about events in or near Detroit. Though Botcon is only like 5 hrs from us gas prices and the fact that I'm seldom trusted with minors is a big factor.
