Seriously though, where's the missile.
I thought the SDCC was supposed to represent the G1 toy? Therefore it SHOULD exist, but we aren't getting individual bot guns on the SDCC either so..JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Not in the G1 cartoon, therefore not on this toy. I dont understand. Why wouldnt the takara version be even more expensive than this? And have you thought of the import costs when getting it from japan? the shipping will be ridiculous. You can always buy BBTS, but you live in canada right? So let's assume the Takara best case scenario is 200$ US.
Shipping to canada from the states will be 30$ at least. You will be charged 10$ duty and an extra 15% guaranteed tax fee for such a huge purchase/box.
So you would end up paying about 331$ cdn for Takara's instead of about 180$ cdn for the hasbro version at TRU (I am basically cancelling out the taxes with the employee discount). How is this not more worthwhile?
Your logic may well be right. I haven't imported much recently.
The thing that I keep underestimating is how piss poor our dollar is. It will gravely affect my decision, and probably yours too.
It's so piss poor that it's worse than TRU predicted. Devastator is on preorder for 159.99$ US everwhere which is 196$ cdn, so slightly more expensive than what TRU is asking for.
And if it was the U.S. release G1 it would have purple forearms AND fists, so there's that. You win this round JZGR....itscramtastic wrote:I thought the SDCC was supposed to represent the G1 toy? I was comparing the articulation mainly. What do you personally find awful about them?

And it's all because Stephen bloody Harper decided we, as a country, only needed the oil economy and crippled us by shacking our dollar directly to the boom and bust of big oil.

right because you never intend to combine them if you do own them and because kibble has been total taboo from Transformers for 30 years. what are you even expecting?

While a little harshly worded, I totally agree.

*Sigh* I think the individual figures look, honestly, really crappy. The Combined form is great, no arguing that, but honestly, I don't get a sense of awe when looking at it, the arms look a bit to small and the head is, while perfectly G1, very simple. I'm not trying to aggravate the Devastator fanboys out here, but I'd take any of the 3'd Party figures over this guy. At least they all have elbows, even the legends scale one.

and i plan on continuing to support Hasbro/Takara to show my gratitude that after 30 years, we still get G1 characters modernized. spend your $600 on $120 worth of plastic. ill continue to support the people that made my childhood great while you spit in their face saying you'd rather buy 3rd party figures.

The alt mode parts are part of their visual appeal to me and if they had found some clever way to completely hide what vehicle had turned into what robot... I wouldn't be interested in transformers in general. I LIKE that when you look at prime he looks like a Semi-truck that stood up. Prowl without his wing doors?!? I just can't accept a prowl without Wing Doors. (In fact sold off the alternator ones because the doors weren't in the right place... GOTTA be able to read 'police' when he's looking at you.)

He's got a fair point of the individual figures being somewhat lacking. I'm sure lots of collectors display combiners individually; I do, Sometimes I just dismember a combiner and pose my fleet of figures.
So wanting a nice set of individual figures is equally important to some, as a cohesive combined mode is to others. I will not buy this set so long as it is tremendously underpainted, and/or lacks individual elbows. I won't go 3P, I'll just miss out; but I have my rules and Devestator breaks them.

It looks to me like 4 out of the 6 do have elbows. Regrettably two appear to not. And now I'm getting questionable on him.
