The more I look at it, the more that Titan Devastator's head reminds me of the new head that came with the anime-accurate redeco of Encore Devastator:

We'd be expecting Hasbro/Tomy to be standardizing the look on their "updated" releases of iconinc characters. We also saw that with Metroplex when they included F. Dery's visored look and Takara's "Scramble City" separated optics and angled face lines. So no surprise for this Titan class bruiser using the "anime" head look. Most probably even the Tomy version will sport a slightly banana yellow green of the show.

I believe I've only seen praise based on the looks and the fact that we are finally getting a fully licensed G1-esque Generations Devy. I don't recall anyone praising the plastic quality to this point. I would make the same argument if anyone had. What we've seen so far appears to be painted prototypes. Unless there is info I am missing, I don't think we've seen anything that can allow us to make a conclusion on the quality of the plastic quality, good or bad.

I too am confused with some of the reasoning. I understand if people are bothered by aesthetics, and to each his or her own in this department. But some of the criticisms seem a bit strange based on what we've seen so far...

I'm not saying you're wrong, and I'm not saying I agree with you, I just don't understand how you can form this opinion just from pictures and absolutely NO reviews.

This is the only reason I havnt completely written it off. A big part of my reluctance comes from the projected price tag. If I could buy the individual bots over time, I'd be a lot warmer to devy.

I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

Gonna assume he means the all pervasive "let it go" from Frozen.

Frozened as in ..........." Let it go......let it go.........." ;)

Space? There are no roads where I stay  Seriously though, when not in play, I put him, Metroplex in the box. My Fortmax is in the display case. Need to get another case that's for sure.

Bingo! I am not ashamed to say that I let go of a lot of TF figs, most of the MP Autobot cars and Seekers (only have the Starscream anime color ver.2). Funding issues. But if a once in a lifetime release like Devastar, I'm saving in advance.

This is all in good fun, Fenrir. I know what you meant but I was curious if that was a real name meaning something else, just for fun. And turns out a quick google image search reveals it's a band name.

Coincidentally, that is G1 Devastator's (and Armada Scavenger's) Japanese name (or, at least, it's one possible Romanization of the Japanese name, whose official Romanization is "Devastor").

Maybe its not a coincidence, maybe I didnt give Fenrir enough credit and he was referring to him by his Japanese name. I do call Optimus Convoy sometimes as a blanket name for the character's many interpretations.

Eh, I like it better in its original colrs as Landfill/Build King, but either way it's a very creative reimagining of the Scramble concept.

And oh man, I wish they'd sort out the rights issues so they could release RiDv1 on DVD and stuff.
