Bruticus alone was a scale nightmare, with a space shuttle, a jeep, a tank, and a helicopter all being the same size, AND smaller than a truck (Swindle's the only one this point was okay for, theough).

I saw somewhere that someone tried to explain things like that. Something about the transformation taking or shedding mass from some pocket dimension or something...

It was a whole lot of hoop jumping just to say 'Ehhhh don't think too much about it....'

Frankly, Bruticus is an interesting concept... but the real winner is Megatron! Giant robot on scale with Optimus... or a gun that Starscream holds... Or a gun that a human can hold...

Same with Soundwave...

Persoanlly, I don't worry TOO much about the alt modes scale... Given a choice I just want the robots to look good on a shelf.

And here I'm thinking they're doing good with scale! I mean, construction vehicles are far larger than cars, and they made Motormaster just a cab so he'd be correctly sized, so there's a logic to it.

:-? Wanting matching Scale with G1 and CW combiners is a losing game. As real world jets are way bigger than racing cars. Some of the military vehicles don't scale well next to each other in real life. Think it's best to just throw scale out of the window and just enjoy the toys. ;)

I love trying to scale my Transformers as much as the next man but isn't our old friend Devy going to look a little... tall alongside his Generations Combiner Wars buddies? :-$

Just to clarify, when I talk scale, it has nothing to do with tape measures or how big an alt mode should make a robot or any of that stuff. It's just how big a toy is compared to another and if it fits with what we usually see on the show when both robots interact with oneanother.

so much this.

the way i like my combiners:
predaking - biggest
devastator - maybe head shorter than PK
all other scramble city combiners - a head shorter than dev, and all relatively the same to one another.

and thanks to picking and choosing between official and 3P, ive been able to achieve this so far ;)

I'll be having Devy smushing Legend class figures into piles of smush. He is massive so he must tower over everything. I'm not usually that bothered by scale but I don't want to have him standing next to our other Titan that is Metroplex Because that will feel weird to me.

The smart money says that Devastator will only be about 3/4 as tall as Metroplex.

So true ! This is exactly how I feel. I just never could think of the right words to say it like you did. :D

With that being said, all the combiners were pretty much the same height based on the G1 episoides "The Key to Vector Sigma" and Starscream's Brigade". We never really got to see if Predaking was truly much bigger. I remember in the episode "Call of the Primitaves" Predaking was the same size as Abominus, which was the same size as Computron, who was pretty much the same size as the older combiners. Thats why I would like them all the same height or somewhere close if possible. And with the help of third parties, this isnt as hard as it sounds.

While I'm really excited about Combiner Wars Devastator, I have to admit that I would have much rather had a Devastator made from 6 deluxe figures that can work with the other Combiners. Had they worked out how to do the 6 deluxes to make a similar height sized Combiner that scales with the 4 deluxes + 1 voyager combination, we would have had Raiden, Monstructor, Dinoking, Liokaiser, and Landcross figured out as well (not to mention we could have had repaints of the various Takara Micromaster Combiners as well).

Of course, maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised by Devastator being the only Titan Class combiner and they do have 6 deluxes figured out, or maybe they'll come out with a deluxe class version of Devastator at a later date (it wouldn't be the first time that we've had a character in multiple versions).

Heck, who wouldn't be behind Cyberverse / Legends Class scaled Combiners? If they did Superion, Devastator, and Raiden in that scale, we'd have the Micromaster Combiners all set to be in scale with the Deluxes and Voyagers. That'd be awesome.

So. Much. Potential!!!

I think some people would be apprehensive about legends combiners after BH abominus (not me though, I love him!) I would love to see hasbro tackle liokaiser and the like, especially Monstructor given how important he is to the fiction in the comics

I'd be up for Legends combiners. If they did the limbs as normal Legends/Cyberverse COmmander class and made the torso a Scout/Deluxe class then they'd avoid the "tiny torso" that poor BH Abominus suffered from. I'd totally be up for a Legends Piranacon, especially if they worked in the targetmaster gimmick.

I'm an MP collector for the most part but every now and then a Generations figure really stands out and makes its way to my shelf. Jetfire, Springer, Metroplex, etc. I was hoping Devastator would be on par for that level of quality. It's not. Not even close. Unless there's a pretty major overhaul on this guy before release this is a pass. Hopefully the Warbotron guys take a shot at this.
