Still, good figure. I'm still leaning towards Intimidator but this is a cool Transformer regardless.

Aw, you don't wanna play around with the combiner and give it a quadrupedal mode?Delta Magnus wrote:He looks pretty good, although I still think that hand module is way too big. Collecting TFs has been rather...depressing of late. I mean, MPs at roughly 2 a year are nice, but I don't want everything I want to buy being expensive collector grade stuff. Combiner wars is finally bringing back good little toys that sit happily on a toy shelf and you can throw £15 at every so often or when you feel you can afford to, or even spot that one you've been after....
Oh, wait, generations don't come to my area!
Best TRU ever did was the first and second wave of FOC. No thrilling 30 gen stuff is anywhere. Which is a shame. 'collecting' is a lot less fun ordering online, especially when P+P charges make you feel like buying in bulk. Gone are the days of hunting down that final limb. Man that was fun back in the day. Wish the UK would sort itself. I have a Tesco, Sainsburys, entertainer and a Smyths toys all within walking distance and they don't even have AOE generations. Just one step and shampoo bottles.Combiner wars toys look like they'd be fun and perfectly easy for kids. Shame that it won't be on shelves here, or that marketing feels it has to have such a divide in products and demographic. Why can't PRID15 be these guys?

Dragstrip looks great, I love Stunticons. Very excited about the line.

If they do make Seacons I actually kinda want them to make Tentakil a fembot. I dunno, it just...works.

I also note they only gave him 4 wheels. I understand why that was for the Mirage redeco, but g1 version having 6 wheels was just so weird that it somehow added to the character in some weird way. Not a complaint, mind you, just an observation.

I expect some kind of in-story justification to go along with Offroad also. RID#33 gave us the reason for Alpha Bravo taking Slingshot's place, so something along those lines.

Don't all modern f-1 cars have four wheels? As has been said it's something kids will recognise.

But I would argue that the Universe "Special Edition" redeco of Classics Mirage was a better Drag Strip toy than G1 Drag Strip on account of the Classics Mirage mold being an awesome figure in and of itself.
I consider the repaint of Classics Mirage to Drag Strip a clever toy, but not the greatest since it's a repaint.

They are also more than likely designed to only have the knee bend in one direction. That would mean that turning them around to be more G1 accurate would also reverse the knee itself.Shuttershock wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Did anybody notice on the Superion schematic the legs are reversed? The cockpits are supposed to be in the back for G1 accuracy.
You can probably still reverse them for an accurate figure. I kind of like having the cockpits in front, forming a knee spike and not getting in the way of the leg bend.
Gotta agree with that, the crying blood look is awesome!megatronus wrote:Dragstrip's head sculpt is delightfully sinister.

I so agree that the hands and feet could have been done better, but this where the Hasbro cost cutting comes in to make these toys so affordable. I would love the additional detail but Hasbro just can't do it and survive...

G1 Drag Strip is based on a 6-wheel F1 racing car, the Tyrrell P34, which ran in the 70's. Experimental, for sure.

As much fun as that sounds (and now I HAVE to try it when I get them) you have to think of it from a kid's perspective. It would have been fine to make just two hands and two feet if they came with the torso figure like in G1, but they have to do something different when the hands/feet come with the limbs. What happens if the only four limb figures they get come with three hands and one foot? Kinda hard to combine them without all the parts. Personally I like the idea of making them the same part.
I don't think the hands look all that bad. Sure they're big, but the bulk of it is a big armor plate (effectively the top of the foot). If you can mentally strip that part off the hands aren't that big.
And yes, these are the international packages. They've said at SDCC and NYCC that the North American released Deluxe class figures will come with both the full size comic and the card while the other size classes come with a card as well. I'm very skeptical about North American releases coming any time soon since we haven't seen any sign of them in package be it official or leaked. Seems like if we were going to get them in December we'd have seen them by now.

Hell if I know. To me F1 is just the key between F2 and ESC,
I just remembered the original toy is all, and thought it would have been neato to keep that bit of uniqueness in the remake.

Yeah, I think the art for the cards (at least the known characters) come from the Transformers Legends game app, so they're not necessarily identical to the final toy. Still, if it comes packed in anyway then money for old rope I guess.
