I said this exact thing a couple of pages back. Glad we're on the same page.

AGREED, Damn it! But only if the above mentioned idea were a thing. It would make sense as a leader class.

Clearly his robot-mode chest can be remolded into just about anything.
I'd prefer a trailer that turns into armor, of course, but it just occurred to me that they might be doing it the other way around - Magnus's smaller form looks like Ultra Magnus, and then his combined form has the white Optimus Prime head.
Having a look at Motormaster, with the right combination of red & blue, his chest could work. So all you'd need is a new head.

I wouldn't loose all hope. Since the Fan Built Combiner is coming out in 2016 it isn't unreasonable to assume we'll continue to get combiners past Hasbro's use of the Combiner Wars label. Now that Hasbro has established a new combining system and they've proven their popularity I wouldn't be surprised if we got at least one new set every year for a while.
Emerje
How do we know that this new combiner system is popular? Are there any sales figures in yet and does Hasbro share that info? I would say we'd have to wait for the first quarter 2015 stock report for any dom had their pre-orders pushed back to February and BBTS has theirs listed for March.
The fact that the "in stocks" sold out over night on Amazon is a good indication.
That's tough to say since we don't know how much stock Amazon had in the first place? If they had only 10 figures each (gross exaggeration I know) those would definitely sell out.
A single, and relatively small toy line like Generations is probably not going to make much of an impact on a stock report. The local Walmarts finished their resets and the AOE section is still bigger than the Generations section (with no RID in sight).
I'm simply calling it popular based on the fan reaction. It's been incredibly positive for a line that has a way of dividing fans and the "gotta catch 'em all!" mentality of CW is a sure way to sell figures. From what I've heard people are experiencing some really fast sellouts when finding these in stores. Plus it sounds like Hasbro is giving this line an unprecedented international release, even ahead of North America so they're certainly aware of the line's potential to be big.
I just wish I could find them in stores already. Walmart probably wont get wave one and won't get anything new until April like last year. Target doesn't stock enough to keep the anything on the shelf this time of year. Kmart is Kmart.
Emerje
It is a good indicator as the internet sales (whether presale or outright) lets a manufacturer/distributor know how much shelf space to buy for the upcoming year. Just because skylanders take up a whole aisle doesn't mean that store decided to dedicate that space, the aisle allocated was paid for. I'm noticing expanded TF resets in my area, which is good. Unfortunately, retailers often hold "new" stock in the back so old stock sells through by way of kids Xmas money, which is why we always have a tough time finding those end/beginning year releases on pegs.

No you do not! You are The MightyMagnus, don't buy into these white Prime repaints. You are like me, you want a Magnus that combines with his trailer, anything else is blasphemy!
I found the Beast Hunters Magnus to be a pretty impressive interpretation of the character using a mold based on Prime.

'White Optimus' Ultra Magnus/Rodimus/Mirage/Sunstreaker/Prowl/Ironhide would be a really weird combination. Not really Masquerade, not quite Lost Light, just sorta "what we can make out of existing molds".

They've hit Texas. Silverbolt is fantastic. He's superior to CW Prime.

Must be a different part of TX, all my stores have peg warmed Tankor, the rodent, and TF4 one step changers
Your Silverbolt (this toy) looks so happy its like he flying home after meeting the girl of his dreams.

I think the voyager Prime mold is going to be reused a ton of times because it'll be easier to repaint/remold than a jet. Those production molds are going to be worn thin.

Leader Ultra Magnus can't be a white Ultra Prime with four combiner limbs since Ultra Prime with four combiner limbs is too darn big to be a Leader class toy.
Compare Ultra Prime's remold of Menasor with Leader Megatron. He's just way too big:

i haven't seen anyone comment on it yet, so i thought i should bring it up. on the back of cw primes legs, right behind the knees are specifically shaped holes with teeth on both sides. however the right hole is different from the left hole. this tells me that something is supposed to plug into those keyhole-like ports. from what i can tell from pics, motormaster doesn't make use of them either. clearly none of the cw figures attach there either. but maybe a leg armor for an ultra magnus? pic attached

I thought it was dumb seeing them use a mold so clearly designed for motormaster as a prime, but as the idea of it being used again as magnus is just idiotic.

The mold was much more likely developed to be BOTH Prime and Motormaster from the get-go. In fact, much more of the figure looks like Prime than it does anything like G1 Motormaster. The legs are a dead giveaway.

That White head with Black Faceplate and Blue eyes Ultra Prime redeco resembles Nova Prime, not Ultra Magnus' inner Not-Prime Design (Which has a White head with Blue Faceplate and Yellow eyes)
Wouldn't surprise me with all the alternate History happening in IDW if this is somehow Nova Prime or another old Prime.

The lines aren't dead on, but they do seem generally reminiscent of Magnus's IDW look. Is there any way to fiddle his kibble to give him the iconic shoulder stacks?

The problem with it being Nova is that the Club is already doing a Nova toy, which they wouldn't have been allowed to do if Hasbro had upcoming plans for one of their own.
