Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Discussion Thread
Re: Transformers Generations Combiner Wars Discussion Thread
So, all the talk of repaints into Thunderclash etc. got me all nostalgic about my childhood, so here's a bizarre wishlist:
Silverbolt => G2 Dreadwing
Skydive => G2 Windrazor
Firefly => G2 Afterburner
Air-Raid => G2 Eagle-Eye
Alpha Bravo => G2 Terradive
Powerglide => G2 Smokescreen
or if you're a Cyberjet fan...
Silverbolt => G2 Dreadwing
Skydive => G2 Skyjack
Firefly => G2 Space Case
Air-Raid => G2 Hooligan
Alpha Bravo => G2 Powerdive
Powerglide => G2 Ransack
Thundercracker => G2 Smokescreen (who just follows them around and shouts 'Go team!' I guess)
G2's probably had more than enough attention lately, but I have some sentimental attachment to these guys, especially the Cyberjets. The went everywhere with me when I was a kid, and for a while Dreadwing/Smokescreen was the coolest thing I had ever owned.

it seems the way the html code of the boards works it "clipped" off the ')' from the URL.

The auto setting has a bug. The [url] tags work a bit better:

The story goes that Drag Strip was part of the first wave of Combiner Wars limb toys and was needed by Hasbro to fully illustrate the Ultra Prime toy's ability to combine with any of the Combiner Wars limb toys, since the second wave toys wouldn't be out yet.OptimusPrimeval wrote:I wonder if there's a story reason for Ultra Prime having Drag Strip for an arm...

Everyone is looking at the "Ultra Magnus" shot, but nobody is noticing something beyond it: One yellow arm and one blue arm, Mirage and Sunstreaker? Looks like he'll be released the same time as the four Autobot cars.
While it's true that the combined forms are bigger than Leader class, that image really misrepresents the difference. Menasor is standing about four inches closer to the camera than the others. The person who compiled those photos together lined up the kid when they should have lined up the figures and corrected the scale. If that were accurate then the limbs would be Voyager size since they appear to be about the same size as Motormaster and Hasbro hasn't exactly mastered mass shifting technology yet.
This should be a little more accurate:

Compare Menasor to Megatron:

Ok, I've been reading Ben Yee's review of Legends Bombshell, and it turns out he does have a "Weapon Mode"... which just looks like the Beast Mode with the arms sticking out in front. Nothing special...

The weapon mode is, however, not advertised on the packaging.

No, the instructions do not have a weapon mode shown. If no weapon mode was intended, then why those pegs on the butt of insect mode? Why the gun barrel looking fists? (Not trying to pick a fight. Just trying to infer the designer's intent.) I think this was clearly the intent in the design, even if not marketed that way. Or, perhaps this is an Easter Egg? Doesn't Hasbro have a pattern of providing us Easter Eggs (like the alternate heads on instructions)?

That's no Easter Egg (as it doesn't point to anything significant). Hasbro's tendency to drop or change intended features is a more likely explanation.
