Too bad this is apparently giftset only. I totally get why it would be that way, but I really like how a couple look, however I don't like them all (much as I love Slingshot, gold is not his color, just what he's worth his weight in) certainly not enough to rebuy them all.

Would Masterpiece wheeljack be out of the question? He is the best there is and the only one that isn't a retool of a previous toy.

The previous Wheeljack is a great figure, but I have no idea what it currently goes for on the secondary market. If you can get it at a price you're willing to pay, I'd say go for it.

The TF Prime Wheeljack is also a great figure, btw. If you don't absolutely care that it be a Gen line figure, or that the aesthetic style is slightly different, that could be another option.

Oh man I forgot about Prime Wheeljack. Ok Joeprime, forget what I wrote, get that one instead. It's not too expensive and is an original mold (unlike these generation ones) and an amazing one at that. If you really need a more G1 style Wheeljack, I say go for the MP.

Unfortunately, yes. Out of my price range. They are gorgeous figures though. Out of curiosity what "size class" would they be considered (i.e. voyager, leader)?

I just checked eBay and the prices are quite fair for him; ranging between $15-$30 depending on condition. Now that I think of it, I may have gotten the TF Prime Wheeljack a while back. I'll have to check.

peaces wrote:the new wheeljack looks great, plus it combines. for accuracy the mp is better anyways.

That's really the only reason I would get the new one over the others that were previously released. Because he combines with the rest of the CW.

So uh, we're getting Scattorshot, but no Computron. Instead he's getting to partner up with a bunch of '84 limb-bots to form Betatron.

Speaking of Powerglide, I find it interesting Hasbro felt the need to retcon him in to a G2 throwback giftset. He was never released in G2. They could have skipped him altogether, charged the same price, and no one would have complained or thought anything suspicious of his lack of inclusion. If they're going to be so revisionist, why not go all the way and include a "G2" Alpha Bravo for maximum Scramble City action?

Is any of the retooling shared with CW Cyclonus? It looks like yes, but it's hard to tell without higher quality pictures.

Also, I wouldn't lose heart just yet that we're not getting Computron. Hasbro (or especially Takara) could release the rest of the Technobots later on. "Betatron" may be just a placeholder for the sake of toy advertising until they're ready to release a proper team for Scattorshot.

Seems to be a completely separate retooling from Cyclonus, being a completely different remold. The head is different for Robot and Combined mode (it's hard to tell, but I'm pretty sure that's Computron's head in the promo art) and the top of the plane mold has new wings and fuselage (The tail fins seems mostly the same as Silverbolt).

It's not that often that a Voyager size mold sees multiple significantly different retools. I guess Hasbro is working on being more cost efficient in production?

With many airplane transformers, remolding is pretty easy. When most of the robot is just stored underneath the plane proper, you just have to make a new "jet backpack" and voila! You're done. No need to re-engineer a transformation scheme. Add a new headsulpt or two, and you're golden.

I wonder if Perfect Effect will make a blue set of fists and feet for G2 Superion. If not, the white set might work.

That is such a goopy hand painted prototype. I hope the colors come out better once she is molded in the appropriate plastics.

I dig her combiner head sculpt, and her dainty new hands and pointy shoes.
