They did say in an interview though that seperating the limbs in the first two waves was a mistake and that from now on in combiner wars they would only sell the entire combiner as part of the same wave. The fact that they have superion be a seconday torso as part of the first wave and showing him combining with other random deluxes is indication that he is more akin to Galvatronus or Ultra Prime.

Madeus Prime wrote:The G2 repaints are a fun idea, but, to be honest, I could care less about them. I'm sorry, but these just don't fit the bill of a mainstream release (albeit on the internet), and I think, personally, that these sets would've been better served as exclusives to SDCC instead of the Combiner Hunters set.

But it seems odd to me to re-releasing all of these figures again, just with different paint apps...
I get, there's not much cost in that.
However, if they don't sell well.........
My worry is that both collectors and kids will be passing on stuff at some point...
And if kids already have started buying from these first three waves,
at some point, parents are going to stop because the kids "have enough and these are the same toys in different colors".
If this works out to help bring us new molds and combiners like Predaking, awesome.
I can't help but think these G2's could end up being self-warmers.
Maybe Hasbro will be making these in much smaller production numbers???
By the way, I do think that Scattershot looks really cool.
IF I pass on Skylinx, he may make it onto my "purchase" list.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

It's one of those things where they know collectors want them, and rather than release it as a con exclusive, they did it as a box set and is thus more easily attainable at a lower price. If they didn't release them many fans would see it as a missed opportunity, so...

I agree it makes sense for collectors...
However, there was always the option to release sets like this the exact same way (together in a completed set), further down the line.
Hell, even a year from now... Which probably would've increased the chances of more people buying them, including kids.
Also as I said, there's a chance these are limited in the number produced.

RodimusRex wrote:First of all, I'd be totally onboard with the redeco Powerglide being:
- Powerglide. (Surprise: The Universe figure is retroactively G2!)
- Shattered Glass Bad Boy. If only for the oddity of the first retail SG figure being released this way. And a Shattered Glass Gobot no less.
- "Good Boy". Maybe with a bio about Megatron's clone machine, just to prove Takara isn't the only one who remembers it.
- A random cyberjet.
- G2 Wheelie or G2 Autobot Daniel, for the sheer WTF factor. That would be a Takara-esque story kind of move that would drive collectors nuts and prompt many funny wiki comments.
As for Alpha Bravo/people who really want a second helicopter, I have a screwball proposal:
Release a version of Blades as Action Master Elite Windmill with G2 logo and suggest he's an Aerialbot Reservist. They'll never see that reuse coming plus Windmill has a better basic sculpt for the mold. Next year's Botcon should probably be Beast Wars heavy so there's gotta be room for a screwball character mixed in with all these iconic types and it would be a delight after the couple of 80s nostalgia waves for the final CW waves to mix in a few screwballs.
