So is G2 Superion's. But that's not stopping anybody.

Anybody notice with the helicopters, they did away with the rockets on their arms, and replaced them with wing/fins?

But did you predict that it would share the voyager wave with Bruticus and thus not get his own deluxes. Or that he would be called Betatron?

Here is the pic we have so far:

He was the mystery torso they didnt reveal at Botcon. Though its a huge bummer, it means he wont have his own team.

Wait what....beta release of combiners? What's that even mean? It doesn't even make sense through the fiction!

They did say in an interview though that seperating the limbs in the first two waves was a mistake and that from now on in combiner wars they would only sell the entire combiner as part of the same wave. The fact that they have superion be a seconday torso as part of the first wave and showing him combining with other random deluxes is indication that he is more akin to Galvatronus or Ultra Prime.

I am also super puzzled. I have no clue what that means. Its sounding like a cheap cop out from there I am standing though (sorry for the negativity, I was really hoping for a computron)

I'm hoping a "beta" test of Computron proper. I can see Hasbro making the rest of the technobots later on, so I'm not panicking quite yet. There's always Takara-Tomy too. They'd never let something like this slide. They'll come through is Hasbro can't/won't.

The G2 repaints are a fun idea, but, to be honest, I could care less about them. I'm sorry, but these just don't fit the bill of a mainstream release (albeit on the internet), and I think, personally, that these sets would've been better served as exclusives to SDCC instead of the Combiner Hunters set.

Don't worry, it is a bit disappointing but I'm sure they'll be a reason behind this. Though maybe it's because takara are going to be making their own technobots, I mean they already have a mould they can retool for afterburner ;)

Perhaps, but with non-committal teams both '84 teams seem to be getting used as limbs for whomever, it is still possible that they could see release. Look at o/p he was released with the aerialbot limbs but o/p-max gets the '84 team, but shares them with beta, so it is still possible that they could happen. Remember we still have many fairs left until all needs to be revealed (we just saw official pics of the last team for this year in june, so we have a ways to go until the rest needs to be reveales; this is just like last year where superion and menasor were revealed, and defensor wasn't until the NY toy fair in march or whatever, let's just calm down >:oP )

These are far better than the energon ones that got multiple releases around christmas (the original box sets, the target exclusive devastator, the live action movie ones...)

I'm sure Hasbro knows exactly what they're doing...
But it seems odd to me to re-releasing all of these figures again, just with different paint apps...
I get, there's not much cost in that.
However, if they don't sell well.........

My worry is that both collectors and kids will be passing on stuff at some point...
And if kids already have started buying from these first three waves,
at some point, parents are going to stop because the kids "have enough and these are the same toys in different colors".

If this works out to help bring us new molds and combiners like Predaking, awesome.
I can't help but think these G2's could end up being self-warmers.
Maybe Hasbro will be making these in much smaller production numbers???

By the way, I do think that Scattershot looks really cool.
IF I pass on Skylinx, he may make it onto my "purchase" list.

It's one of those things where they know collectors want them, and rather than release it as a con exclusive, they did it as a box set and is thus more easily attainable at a lower price. If they didn't release them many fans would see it as a missed opportunity, so... >:oP

I agree it makes sense for collectors...
However, there was always the option to release sets like this the exact same way (together in a completed set), further down the line.
Hell, even a year from now... Which probably would've increased the chances of more people buying them, including kids.
Also as I said, there's a chance these are limited in the number produced.

These are 'further down the line' in the short term, I believe, they could be a christmas release, they were really heavy into those once-upon-a-time, or something for next year;

First of all, I'd be totally onboard with the redeco Powerglide being:

- Powerglide. (Surprise: The Universe figure is retroactively G2!)

- Shattered Glass Bad Boy. If only for the oddity of the first retail SG figure being released this way. And a Shattered Glass Gobot no less.

- "Good Boy". Maybe with a bio about Megatron's clone machine, just to prove Takara isn't the only one who remembers it.

- A random cyberjet.

- G2 Wheelie or G2 Autobot Daniel, for the sheer WTF factor. That would be a Takara-esque story kind of move that would drive collectors nuts and prompt many funny wiki comments.

As for Alpha Bravo/people who really want a second helicopter, I have a screwball proposal:

Release a version of Blades as Action Master Elite Windmill with G2 logo and suggest he's an Aerialbot Reservist. They'll never see that reuse coming plus Windmill has a better basic sculpt for the mold. Next year's Botcon should probably be Beast Wars heavy so there's gotta be room for a screwball character mixed in with all these iconic types and it would be a delight after the couple of 80s nostalgia waves for the final CW waves to mix in a few screwballs.

On an unrelated note, got my protectobots from hts today - news that was quickly ruined by the news of 2 cavities :-x ; f$&kin' cavities, preventing me from fully enjoying my cw figures - absolutely love rook, cannot wait to get swindle and hound. Only problem I have is the length of defensors shoulders impedes a lot of the shoulder articulation :-( Still an excellent figure.

That hasn't been confirmed, keep up the hope; there've been many 'official' limb-swaps, so with victorion not being a main-line release (apparently) that leaves 2 waves unfulfilled. You will probably have to wait until the NY toy fair next year for the 3rd wave figures, like it was this year.

So wait, if it isn't used for either arm/leg mode, what is the port on the front of rook for? a pseudo-nosecone mode, an extra port just cuz?
