The combiner head isn't included in the prototype.
Normally you'd see the antennae poking out of just under Silverbolt's/Scattorshot's chest, but there's just empty holes there.
If the head was just a straight-up repaint of Superion, I don't see why it would be excluded from the Prototype. Just some food for thought.

From the figures shown at Botcon, the combiner head IS just a straight up recolor of Superion's head. And by recolor I mean...not changed at all.

Here's hoping then that they HAVE changed the combiner head and just haven't updated the cover tab to close in the antennae holes.

One can only hope. It would bring his parts changed to six in an era of complete reshells.

Well, no. The head shown at Botcon wasn't even a recolor. It was just Superion's head. I said it then and I'll say it now: the head shown at Botcon was a placeholder because they hadn't designed an actual Computron/Betatron head yet.

Cyclonus differs from Silverbolt by at least 19 mold pieces, and I'm sure they're figuring he's more popular and worth more tooling costs, but they really should at least make 2 more parts to give Betatron/Computron a different chestpiece.

This right here. I think many people just jump to conclusions way too quickly when it comes to things like this

He almost resembles WFC Megatron's alt mode...

Not sure about that. It seemed to be a slight recolour with black being under his eyes instead of silver paint, the antennas are more orange as well:

this is the official product image released by Hasbro, you can clearly see that the colors are quite different than the mock up we saw at comic con.

Hasbro said a few things at SDCC that continues to give me hope that we're getting a new head on Computron and that we'll be getting the rest of the Technobots.

Exactly, CW has only re-used 3 heads, combiner and regular, and that was a/b and vortex, o/p and battle core, and as of now q/s and blast off; even the lazy o/p had a new bot mode head. So out of a year and a halfs worth of figures there've been three re-hashed heads, so logic dictates that in all likelyhood we will get a new head for computron.
Plus the figure in display definitely looked like a prototype, so there's that.

I can't recall word-for-word what Hasbro said to me, but they alluded to his name as Betatron implied that there was more to come and that this was just a "beta" version of this toy. They said a lot of tongue-in-cheek comments and wouldn't give straight answers that made me believe that we'll be getting something better later down the road. Plus I know they read a lot of the comments on our forums so I've got my fingers crossed that they'll do us right by Computron. I'm assuming we'll know more next month at NYCC.

Wouldnt that be revealing a bit too much for next year? For the generations line, we didnt know more beyond the first half of the year before the nuremberg toy fair. However, this time last year, we had a much better idea of what was in store for RID. We currently have no indication of anything coming out for that line in 2016 aside from some lingering unused designs in the app and some computer listings.

Well they are the last vehicle group (that isn't original), so, despite the heavy remolding that they would need to have done right by us, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to skip them for a third set of '84
or something like that.

Also, doesnt it being called Betatron mean that this release is still happening but there will be another Scattershot torso issued later?

I am pleased Hasbro have developed a modern wave of Combiners for all us fans, Computron being one of the G1 gestalts I used to own, so this new, modern Generations version pending will make a nice addition to my growing Combiner collection!
All this talk of Combiner heads has made me dig out photos of the original G1 heads of both Computron and Superion for a quick comparison.
G1 Computron headshot.

G1 Superion headshot.

They are both very similar apart from the antenna, so using the same Combiner Wars gestalt head for both moulds would be more of a nod towards the G1-era of Transformers and help offer further remoulding changes elsewhere?
Im keen to see the various limb-bots in all their futuristic glory!
PM ME PLEASE!-
