Rodimus Prime wrote:So who exactly is Minimus Ambus? Is he the sentient being inside the body, and Magnus is just his transtector?
Thank you. So this version of Magnus is the one in the MTMTE books, or did it just come around in the CW comics (he being a CW Leader)? I'm about to finally crack open Volume 1 of MTMTE, so I don't know these things. Yet.SW's SilverHammer wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:So who exactly is Minimus Ambus? In the IDW continuity, the original Ultra Magnus died at some point at the beginning of the war. After which, Tyrest the chief justice of Cybertron decided that the legacy of the lawman needed to continue, so he commissioned the creation of Magnus Armor. This magnus armor would be handed down to a loadbearer secretly chosen by Tyrest to take on the role of Ultra Magnus and serve as the Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord. Seeing as it's a legacy, these loadbearers die eventually, and a new one is chosen, Minmus Ambus/Freddie Mercury was the latest, and might as well be ultra magnus for all intents and purposes. After one of the MTMTE arcs the magnus project is technically decommissioned and replaced with Star Saber, effectively making Minimus the last person to take the title of Ultra Magnus.

He can transform now, which he couldn't out of the box, but he's got quite an ugly spot or two of mangled plastic. When I got mine, it was one of the first ones that Amazon got in, and there wasn't an option to exchange it anywhere :/Hellscream9999 wrote:I don't care about minimus, but what was wrong with your magnus? I don't mind paying a bit more for TT figures if part of that money is for much, much higher qc.
Yeah, that sucks, well mine can't form it's legs![]()
I do feel, that this 'new' or 'cheap' plastic, while seeming to remain sturdy while being nearly translucently thin, is much more prone to stressing and having qc issues, can't believe I paid $45 for him, he feels like he should be $40 at most
I believe all these leaders should be 40 at the most. I mean, think about it, they are currently priced at the same price of this bad boy below, something doesnt add up.
I paid 30$ for Jetfire and 41$ (30$ US) for Ultra magnus and I find that perfectly fair. I think I paid the same for Leader Grimlock too from AOE (who started this whole new trend in leader class figures).
Oh man, this makes me think of the fun Ultra and Leader figures we had in the past. Like Cybertron Jetfire, now that was a fun toy worth his retail price.
It adds up to corporate greed (or something similar) They use as few a paint apps and colors as possible, they make the figures as hollow as possible, they cashed in on cw repaints instead of making several new figures, they inflate the prices all while making them as cheaply and as hollow as possible, now they're turning up with a slew of qc issues for it. And they've long since ceased to use electronics and 'firing' missles, while I don't miss them, it does make you wonder what else is going to go before they can't raise their prices any higher and still sell them

This ultra magnus figure is essentially just a generations leader class like jetfire, it has no relation to the combiner wars outside of being released with those toys. Think of it kinda like how the early generations toys like trubo tracks and they got lumped in with movie toys. This is the Ultra magnus in MTMTE, and he dosen't appear in combiner wars.

The firing missiles is super bizarre because they were included in the commander figures of just last year. A big shift happened between last year and this year where the legends class figures no longer came with that targetmaster partner and legion class figures no longer came with weapons.
I do understand all the frustrating QC issues but I dont find Hasbro as greedy as you make them out to be. If they were truly greedy we wouldnt have any of the stuff we have now and there would just be action figures of Optimus and Bumblebee that dont transform. Way cheaper to produce. But instead they still comission the best toy engineers in the world to come up with smart transformations. The QC and cheaper material and lack of paint you see is what Hasbro has to do to keep the shareholders happy by lowering cost. Toys dont sell as much as they used to due to video games and other kinds of entertainment that wasnt as readily available/affordable 20-30 years ago. So no matter how much hasbro pushes their marketing, the way to increase profits is not to increase sales but to reduce cost. Tomy is also publicly traded (and their stock price sank since 2009 and only recently got back up) so I dont know how they can afford their higher standard of quality as compared to Hasbro.

CW Megatron is a great example:
1) He's really sturdy and has some heft to him
2) He is beautifully painted and sculpted
3) Rubber moving treads, good firing missile system
4) sticker options
5) Pretty good posability
Overall, I think Megs is a true winner. Just throwing out a mold I think is a ringer

For me it was the legs. Those big gray pieces just turned me off. Otherwise I would have bought him in an instant.Hellscream9999 wrote:D-Maximus_Prime wrote:I would like to say though that we do get ringers and winners.

It is pretty nice, but a few more weeks on the design table couldn't have hurt; those shoulders are atrocious, will never like this mold because of that

Well I am Australian. It's kinda what we're known for.

No comics, huh?
Edit: Also, looks like Brawl and Swindle come with the same hand/feet. That's a first. Matching toes!

Well, this is the international packaging, so I would think comics are a definite possibility for the US.
These are almost too b-e-a-utiful to take out of the packaging. Almost...
