Really? You dont want this mold? Its really good, easily one of the best tank transformers. So much so I had to update my list.

http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... oys/32291/

Nope, those shoulders are some of the worst points of articulation that I've ever seen, absolutely loathsome, it was an instant deal breaker - especially when rid megatronus managed the exact same thing and looked epic whilst doing it >:oP

But they are only weird if you pose them in a weird way. I find the design very innovative for having such a complete change of form in few steps. Its quite elegant. And the tank mode is superb. Plus, he is the Hasbro retail toy with the most paint apps of last year, I thought you would appreciate that. Or at least his fabulous headsculpt which is easily the best megatron headsculpt we have ever gotten. Hes also more solid than Mgnus and doesnt feel hollow anywhere.

Granted I got mine for 30$ so I saw it through the rose colour glasses of a 30$ toy. Which was well worth the money.

Meh, paint apps mean nothing to me if the figure looks like crap when posing - as I pose my figures, the limited knee and fugly shoulders were an immediate red flag. And I've seen enough pics and reviews to know this much.

He looks nice, and even has a vehicle mode befitting the best of 'em, of the Cybertron line of yore.

Personally, I'm not even a fan of the head, its a little too G1, but it doesn't convey his manic personality very well, he just looks like he's constipated

I'm with Screamsey on this. I want to love my Armada Meg's, but he looks like one of those old school, "Great White Hunter," WWI British Colonol Mustard, Safari-hat wearing, pipe smoking long-winded guys. Like, sure, Megatron was a hell of a magnificent bastard in his day, but now his six-peg is a keg, his legs aren't as handsomely framed in those tight, tight pants of his, and he mostly just sits around telling stories.

Especially with the (admittedly amazing) face sculpt on the Armada version. I imagine him saying in a slurred English accent "I remember a time, and I'm talking waaay back when Lawrence of Arabia was still Lawrence of Great Britain! God save The Queen. Now, what was I talking about again? Oh, balderdash."

And his arm cannon sucks. Whereas everything else is pretty decent, that thing just kinda sits on a wonky hinge/swivel, restricting all movement of his right arm. To me, it's a figure that's so close...but no cigar.

I can give you the shoulders, but I love the simple and quick transformation that also accomplishes a good bit, not to mention making the arms the turret and still managing to have it rotate :MAXIMAL:

As cool as that is, they did that with Cybertron Defense Scattorshot and subsequent redecoes. And they accomplished it more impressively.

My point being that a toy from a decade earlier had better execution.

We can say that for a lot of toys. I have yet to see any toy beat HTFD Leader Starscream in terms of execution. And same with animated toys. Sure people may not like the designs, but the engineering and innovation done to provide those quality toys which in both cases emulated designs that were done before the toys were designed is masterful (and technically what the masterpiece line is all about now).

Hellscream9999 wrote:Cybertron nothin', they frickin' did that with rid megatronus, only way better :BANG_HEAD:

Not really. I have Megatronus and his alt mode is not as great as Leader Megatron. The fact that its cybertronian let the designers get a lot of clearance and facilitates the robot in having a sleeker look. Also, he has no arm canon or projectile, and he does have a visible head. I dont mind any of this and think he is still a good toy, but I did want to point out that Leader Megatron does one up Megatronus in multiple areas.

However:

Yeah he does have that and it blows. I would rather things be done right, even if it means you dont get anything. Which is why RID Megatronus works well enough and I have no complaints. He doesnt have an arm canon, but I preffer that than him having a crappy one. Commander Prime Megatron had a good arm cannon, but thats to counter for the crappy alt mode.

CW Megs looks cool in stoic poses, but move them arms and its all over with. The arm cannon is a little silly looking in the official mode and could have been done better. He also has very limited leg articulation.

He is fun to transform and has a bad ass tank mode. I'm going skip the working treads argument, because he is basically an H tank without looking like an H. Call me when the treads are one continuous loop from front to back.

All the silver paint is amazing and the head sculpt is delicious.

With all that said, CW Megatron is a cool figure, looks great standing next my masterpiece/leader fig combo display *gasp* and I don't regret paying full price one bit at all.

To each their own I guess PRID FE Arcee, oh and that give away Megs is simply stunning =P~

Call me crazy but I don't mind his cannon. I keep it butt-forward so the paint apps show and he looks more G1. It doesn't realy get in the way, and while the shoulders are set too low, I can deal with it. He's a good toy overall, IMO.

Shouldn't this conversation technically be in the Leader Class figures thread?

I think that Leader Megatron is the only really good G1 Megatron toy that's ever been made (something I waited for several decades for) and probably the best any-Megatron too personally. He's imposing with a great tough looking bot mode (with not too much annoying kibble which is very important for me, I hate large bits of kibble especially wings) and an excellent tank form. A true highlight of the otherwise rather bleh 2015 Transformers figures (thankfully they didn't make him a combiner).
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool! :)

Likes: Bayverse, Marvel UK G1, Geoff Senior art, '86 movie (more for style/soundtrack rather than Star Wars plot)
Dislikes: Bumblebee movie (lousy rehashed dumb crud), TFA, G1 cartoon, IDW G1, BW/BM, MP. The entire concept of Autobot Megatron

So the actual G1 toy and the Takara versions of the Classics Megatron toy are not good toys? Just making sure I understand what you meant in your first line, because thats both high praise but also a huge criticism of anything we've gotten in the past. I even found the RTS Megatron to do a really good job in his size class.

Also, keep this comment in your favourites, Carnivius, because you'll want to get back to it when I drop the Seibertron Staff picked list for the top 5 best Megatrons. He's not in there. But that isn't a huge shocker since Hellscream is part of the staff and had some strong feelings about this toy

RoTF/HFTD Leader Optimus Prime. Hands down. I owned that mold as well as Starscream, and Starscream is much simpler to transform, even though he looked pretty good. But in terms of execution? In my opinion RoTF/HFTD Leader Optimus Prime is the best Transformer toy ever produced. Ever. DoTM Sentinel Prime and RoTF Jetfire come close.

As for CW "Armada" Megatron I think it was totally unnecessary. Considering the alt mode, Hasbro had a perfect opportunity to give us G2 Tank Megatron instead. All they had to do was change a few minor things. It would have even made more sense, as G2 came right after G1. The CW version Armada Megatron is unnecessary and lame.

I agree with this. The mold really didn't make the most sense for him and G2 Megs would have been far more appropriate. They also could have released that version later on than armada was actually released to actually bide some time between releases :MAXIMAL:

I didn't realise that people haven't seen these out in the wild yet. My local Wal-Mart has had these guys for about a month now and they even have the wave 6 deluxe figures. No Voyagers unfortunately :(

Oh, that's more normal, I was getting scared, a TF figure in Italy before the US? Then what?

Because getting figures here is near a miracle, getting them before the US would likely be a sign of the incoming apocalypse.

And I so much love that scene from the movie I try to shoehorn it everywhere.
