You're both wrong. It's the same Ultra Magnus armor, as currently piloted by minimus ambus. It's two different artistic interpretations of the same armor. In fact, the appearance of the Nick Roche armor in stories that take place before ultra magnus's first appearance in the ongoing means it's the same armor due to retroactive continuity. So unless either ultra Magnus toy can phase shift both red and white depending on the issue of MTMTE neither will be entirely comic accurate.

Also, seriously sabr? You're putting the Hasbro ultra magnus on a neo classic Japanese G1 shelf? After making such a big deal about two different artistic interpretations of the same character in the same continuity. It's clearly IDW ultra magnus and looks nothing like JG1 contemporaries. That's like putting ROTF ransack with classics style generation 2 figures.

Like you kinda said... This Magnus is nothing like the G1 character! coz that one wasn't piloted(in robot mode) by a minifigure(with the exception of the Only Human episode! where he was piloted by a human in robot mode).

In this twisted retcon happy world of IDW (of course Marvel and DC are the king in that regard) you are correct. Hasbro just went for the Nick Roche interpretation because the previous designer is no longer the flavor of theprofit margins quarter. That Mini mee character and all the recent developmentsare about as hokey as Orion Pax and Optronix are differing Optimus'

I'm kind of off the loop with the neo classic categorizing...... :???:

You are on a completely different page from anything I have been saying. I was never talking from an in-universe fictional standpoint. Don Fig created his own design for Ultra Magnus, and Nick Roche created a different design of his own later. It is fallacious for anyone to claim that the two artists used the same Ultra Magnus design as each other when such is not true.

Pretty much every transformers had a different design for the 2009 ongoing and MTMTE. Nick Roche and Alex Milne completely redesigned the cast for issue 1 of MTMTE, Magnus included. this is pretty much a case of artistic license, with the first Magnus being earth based and the new Magnus being cybertronian. Same armor, different look. :BOT:

Actually, you were. No matter what you want to say, it's the same Ultra Magnus. It dosen't matter which artist created what, both are equally valid interpretation of the exact same character. So yes, white thighs, red thighs, both are valid. That's the actual point last time I checked.

Alright sorry Sabr. I just saw a lot of similarities with the armour and thought that they were the same design but by a different artist.

Just watched the video review listed with the TFSource PE Combiner hand/feet set, and while the hands do look a little thin, when positioned as a fist, I think they're pretty okay.
Especially considering I'm not a fan of the originals.
Which speaking of originals, I can't stand the original combiner feet... I know, I know, in the grand scheme, not the end of the world. For me, just way too small and flat for combiners.
Not to mention, the PE feet will add a little height.
So as long as the hands are decent, I think this set will be worth it.

And I can't say it enough... PE's head & chestplate/back add-on set makes a world of difference for this figure. The head sculpt is beautiful, and along with the shoulders, it really creates a quality G1-esque aesthetic.

On a different note, are people still feeling at all confident that Blast-Off will get a new mold with the UW release??

It's a certainty, the designer already released sketches of what it would look like, they are going full G1. You can clock the "join discussion" in the link below and you will be directed to the appropriate thread to receive the latest news on the matter.

Thanks.
I was on hiatus just long enough to miss that bit in that thread.
And good news, too. Even though I thought Hasbro's version was actually okay.

Dude, you're planning on getting everything. As soon as a new figure is revealed we look at it and have two thoughts.
1 - That figure is awesome (or alternatively, that figure is gonna suck)
2 - SillySpringer is going to be all over that.
:-P

But yes, I will be getting him, hopefully the TT version though.

soooo anyone other than me planning to get Bruticus? All if favor of getting Bruticus say "I".

I don't sere a problem with it, Arcee's meant to be more shapely. Mostly because she was meant to be "the chick" in the 86 movie. Also, yes i'm getting bruticus, i'll see if i can headswap Blastoff, or if there's a perfect combiner upgrade,

Ha ha I hate you. (JK)
I've been collecting for only a year now, cut me some slack.
Next year, I should be able to get more figures because of better budget. I can't get too many TFs this year cuz I'm saving up for UW Devy in December.
I only get the Takara version if the overall build is better, or is at least 50% more appealing to me (whatever that means).
The product shots for the normal CW Bruticus looks good enough for me, so I'm not gonna pay an extra $50 for a couple extra paint aps and MAYBE a shuttle Blastoff. >:oP I am spending wisely. I'm less stupid with my money than some collectors who get something they don't need, then end up missing out on something better later. =;
