Dude, you're planning on getting everything. As soon as a new figure is revealed we look at it and have two thoughts.
1 - That figure is awesome (or alternatively, that figure is gonna suck)
2 - SillySpringer is going to be all over that.


But yes, I will be getting him, hopefully the TT version though.

I've been collecting for only a year now, cut me some slack.
Next year, I should be able to get more figures because of better budget. I can't get too many TFs this year cuz I'm saving up for UW Devy in December.
I only get the Takara version if the overall build is better, or is at least 50% more appealing to me (whatever that means).
The product shots for the normal CW Bruticus looks good enough for me, so I'm not gonna pay an extra $50 for a couple extra paint aps and MAYBE a shuttle Blastoff. I am spending wisely. I'm less stupid with my money than some collectors who get something they don't need, then end up missing out on something better later.

I'm really torn because I like how Swindle, Brawl, and Onslaught look. If Takara is going to do a proper Blast Off I don't want to double dip, but I'd hate to have to wait for those molds.

You never know. People are only finiding CW Ultra Magnus now and he is shipping from japan in just a few days. So sometimes distribution is odd all around. As for me this si what I am doing. If it is revealed that TTmall is NOT exclusively selling him, I will wait. Waiting for TT's Superion was more than meets the eye worth it and so will waiting for TT's Devastator. And technically, you would only be waiting for 2 fully new molds while the Hasbro version would only offer you 1 totally new mold. In a way, if you choose not to get Takara's Bruticus since you want our Bruticus now and dont want to double dip, you will live your whole life without that new mold being part of it. Is the rest of eternity not worth waiting just a little longer?

And in any case, getting the Takara version is worth it for reiewers no? Because they dont ship samples out early, meaning you all get him at the same time and no one has an edge over the other. And not all reviwers go out of their way for takara items, so there is less competition. I may be wrong though.

Honestly, i'm pretty okay with blastoff being a fighter jet, provided his head were swapped with firefly's. Folding the wings inward kinda matches the silhouette of the shuttle.

But wasn't it Energon that had all that Powerlinx stuff? I've noticed the Armada Starscream last year and the Armada Megatron this year, but I wonder if Hasbro will ever make something for Energon and Cybertron. Or maybe the 2001 Robots in Disguise.

Actually, you were. No matter what you want to say, it's the same Ultra Magnus. It dosen't matter which artist created what, both are equally valid interpretation of the exact same character. So yes, white thighs, red thighs, both are valid. That's the actual point last time I checked.

Nowhere in my posts was I ever discussing the Don Fig and Nick Roche designs as being different people. I was always talking about the differences in visual aesthetics from a real world comic book production standpoint.

And D-Maximus_Prime likewise explained the point I've been making about the visual aesthetics:

Its the same design but the colour arrangement is different (I edited my comment as well as added a better pic).

Pretty much every transformers had a different design for the 2009 ongoing and MTMTE. Nick Roche and Alex Milne completely redesigned the cast for issue 1 of MTMTE, Magnus included. this is pretty much a case of artistic license, with the first Magnus being earth based and the new Magnus being cybertronian. Same armor, different look.

And if you look back at all of my recent posts on the matter, never once did I bring up "red thighs vs. white thighs" in regards specifically to IDW Magnus. All I ever pointed out were the smaller details that Takara painted on their figure like the yellow lights on his shoulders and knees and the extra blue on his shins and pelvis. The thighs were never part of discussion regarding the IDW character.

Oh i'm sorry I thought you meant an Actually classics style JG1 continuity. Last time I checked, the legends comics were supposed to be goofy fluff material, not a serious continuity. I mean for it's been 20 years, and the comic makes Trukk not Munky jokes, I don't think it's really meant to be taken seriously No matter how many fan wanky moments there are to The Headmasters, there are just as many:
megatron's in business suits
Tigatron collecting kiss player
rattrap giving dinobot a Gari Robo-kun popsicle
Airazor and T-AI dressing up in Santa Claus outfits
windblade working at a little sister cafe, where starscream also works.
And Many more!

You've really been out of the loop on the Legends manga. For all of its humor and hijinks, there is a large portion of it that is heavily lore-based and further expands upon the Japanese Generation 1 cartoon continuity (not the chibi BW stuff, though, that's all on its own in The Legends Universe).

The particular issue I just posted an image of earlier is one that goes into detail on Ultra Magnus's resurrection after the Japanese Generation 2 fiction, with Alpha Trion bringing him back to life and upgrading him into the body that his new toy is based on, from which he will later upgrade further into his Laser Ultra Magnus body.
