Finally got a CW Computron, which I've always kind of looked at as an accessory/option kit for the UW version.

In short:

Scrounge: Awesome. Finally.

Scattorshot: UW version is better in every way.

Afterburner: CW version is the one we all actually wanted, shame he didn't have the UW weapons. CW version wins for sure.

Nosecone: UW version is vastly superior to the oddly colored and awkwardly sized CW version.

Lightspeed: As much as the Wheeljack tooling is kind of bad-ish, the UW version is the better, more accurate Lightspeed. I'm contemplating repurposing the CW version as MtMtE Red Alert.

Strafe: Now, this is interesting because I think both versions are completely valid. The UW version is cartoon accurate. The CW version is toy accurate. Both are great toolings and it's nice to have options. I like the CW version better overall as a figure, but I feel the UW version looks better on Computron.

CW Hands a feet: Nice, but the muted color is a killjoy. Should have been a nicer brown-ish red.

Why spend for an already existing best selling mold? It's not like Hb/Takara can repurpose the Constructicon into another character unlike the CW/UW molds.

Most Hb can do is issue an orange Devs or a yellow one. Downsizing him won't be feasible economically. Heck, it was Takara that was willing to add elbows, visor/optics and extra weapons.

Yeah I know. If at least a 3p company would come out with one with the same type of combiner connections as CW toys, and with the individual guys the sizes of deluxes, that would be awesome.

Problem is, 3rd P cost more than the official ones.

I can see a smaller unofficial Devastator happening - it would make a lot of sense to shrink him he's look is very KO as it is so he'd really suit one of the middle ranking factories simply shrinking him. What with Wei Jiang doing a slightly larger Defensor :

http://www.actionfigurechecklist.com/Im ... st/Plastic

(note in above gallery : The over size Perfect effect hands and feet now too !)

A shrunk Devastator might be the same size as an overscale Defensor then... but I guess what some people would like is a VERY shrunk Devastator so he's the same size as he Combiner Wars gestalts - which is understandable I guess.

But if he's popular perhaps in a few more Years Hasbro might make another one anyway - either a G2 recolour of the existing mould or a brand new design that is much smaller.

---

I am slightly curious though what Made Takara go with the Car Robots Combiner (maybe) as There is an official G1 repaint in the form of Battle Gaia :

http://www.tfu.info/1992/Destron/GreatC ... cannon.htm
(Blue instead of Blue-grey & green)

http://www.tfu.info/1992/Destron/Sandst ... dstorm.htm
(light sand instead of Tan or Blue)

http://www.tfu.info/1992/Destron/Target ... ethawk.htm
Is a nice green colour. where as Rotor has a also quite nice dark blue colour.

http://www.tfu.info/1992/Destron/Leland/leland.htm
Is a rather fetching Fuschia - all be one similar to G2 Swindle's red.
Where as rollbar is a nice medium olive green (perhaps a little to similar to Hound though)

http://www.tfu.info/1992/Destron/Shuttl ... gunner.htm
is very similar to Movor anyway so no real distinction to worry about there other than chest plate colours.

It would be a bit irksome though that there is a desire for a green version and we get a repaint but it would be black & white.

Other options sand with tiger like markings or urban camo but I guess that option isn't ideal for Japan - even if a unified look would look really awesome.

I wonder why they didn't do their own G2 pack though.

I'll tell you what did cross my mind though - couldn't Hasbro Asia have it's own unique giftsets too ?

I keep forgetting CW Devastator is so much shorter than the other Titans.
So a straight Devastator copy would be the proper size then I guess. but unless such a copy was G2 coloured - I guess the reaction to that would be a bit apathetic, Since it's common to reduce or increase things by around 20-30% (sometimes much more) then I guess some people might see some merit in a 30cm Devastator.

Did anyone ever figure out how tall he'd be if the limb-bots were Deluxes ?
I never bothered buying one as he never showed up in the UK and so wasn't worth the cost of importing unless I could have found a Takara one.
If I did buy one it would be for the individual robots anyway as I think his combined mode is pretty terrible looking.

But if the rumours are true it was originally supposed to be smaller and was upscaled so if it was down-scaled again it would be the size it should have been in the first place. Multiple sizes of the same thing isn't something Hasbro or Takara makes a habit of doing officially though ; Energon Megatron often comes to mind when the subject is raised.

If I was Wei Jiang or KBB though I'd be thinking about Knocking off one of the 3rd party ones not the inferior Hasbro one as it would fit in with their existing lines better - but one of the cheaper KO makers might be interested I suppose the same sort of places that did over size ROTF Movie and Prime Optimus KO.

Perhaps Hasbro shot themselves in the foot by making Devastator to low a quality to sell the robots individually and to big to be practically to repaint. Those Clip on wheels still make me flinch - not just because they are clip on - but because they are the exact same kind of wheels used on low end Chinese toys. I did Laugh a bit in the other direction though when Beast Hunters Prime Bumblebee's were being KO'd and the 1st thing they did was pin the wheels.

I was gonna do ajerk move and post a pic of UW Computron or UW Grand Galvatron, but you know what I think yours is just as awesome. That sword works really well with Skylynx and i am so happy you were able to find him for a good price. To be frank I disnt really like Skylynx as a toy... until I used him as a combiner. That torso mode is oddly enough the best part of that toy and I am glad you are putting it to good use.

Torso is easily the best part yeah and pretty much the entire reason I wanted him. When I opened him up I did... feel a little disappointed by his modes. I mean they look nice enough and I'm sure they'd be good on display, but... mleh.
And then I got to the main event. The REAL reason you buy this toy. :D

Also, great thing about Sky Reign using this sword?

Backpack storage.

I'm actually really loving this. I mostly put it together as a joke but I'm really pleased with the result; their shared red colouring really brings it together. Currently got them posed with Pyra Magna commanding them; with Road Rage, Alpha Bravo, Offroad and Rust Dust forming the rest of the team. This is my favourite squad I swear

Purrdacus
Magnyaboss

Thunder Meowhem
Wreckcat

Non-G1 combiners:

Tripurrdacus (obvious, admittedly)

Tail Racer
Nyandfill
Mewination
Omega Purrime

Constructicat Maximus

EDIT:
RAR wrote:I am slightly curious though what Made Takara go with the Car Robots Combiner (maybe) as There is an official G1 repaint in the form of Battle Gaia

Because "Operation Combination" was relegated to a handful of story pages in TV Magazine and is basically when G1 died in Japan. By contrast, Baldigus(/Ruination) was in the Car Robots(/RiD2001) anime and, along with Black Convoy(/Scourge), served to raise the odds and present the Cybertrons(/Autobots) with enemies who provided an actual threat rather than mere comic relief, so that's more likely to mean something to someone somewhere.

(And if they really do see UW Baldigus through, it'd make a nice companion piece for last year's Grand Scourge.)

I had the Combaticons on my Sky Lynx as I couldn't be bothered to move a lot of stuff to see where I'd put Ironhide and Prowl to try some Autobots on him.

Actually looks better than I expected... they also look quite nice on Grand Scourge too.

But Perhaps another idea is to to randomly pick one or two of the Vicky-chicks and put them on other combinations so the colour overload is minimised.

For example as an arm on red Optimus with Ironhide as the other arm and perhaps with Mirage and Smokescreen as legs to give him more of the red/blue balance.

I hope a UK based option for Vicky shows up under £70.00 that is about the most i'd pay for her.

I am limited on my torsos - Sky Lynx, Onslaught, Hot Spot and Pyra Magna and that's it. And I don't really intend to get anymore in the near future, especially with how bad the Motormaster mold looks in torso mode

In fact the only other things I plan to pick up from CW in the near future are Mirage and Wheeljack - and that's only if I get lucky and come into money/a voucher. Come to think of it, at this point the only CW deluxe molds I haven't experienced are Air Raid/Skydive and Drag Strip...

Air Raid is my favorite plane alternate mode, and Dragstrip my favorite car mode (trucks/jeep/ambulance/Rook don't count). You need to try to get ahold of one of each mold. They are both quite good
