Funny thing, Astrotrain became a leg in another recent IDW comic - one of, ah, significantly less quality; Deviations. He was part of the unnamed Megascream combiner along with Starscream (as the torso), Soundwave and two of the coneheads.

By "call off" I meant "let her off the hook". :-P

Trump wouldn't call your house. He's too busy campaigning and chatting with Jimmy Fallon.

A new deluxe Acid Storm and Sunstorm would be awesome.

Please leave the political stuff off this forum please.

Now, as for those pictures:

In the story, the Earth is essentially a very large Enigma of Combination thanks to Blackrock, whom Galvatron is using. When Superion and Victorion arrive, Galvatron activates said enigma. He combines Dreadwing, Astrotrain, Mindwipe, Blitzwing, and Acid Storm into Galvatronus, whom he names after himself. The combined mode head is a reference to G2 Smokescreen, Dreadwing's partner in said series. They are forcefully combined against their will.

Same happens with Sky Lynx, Cosmos, Slugslinger, Thundercracker, and Sunstreaker, whom are all fighting on the same side against Galvatron, and whom are now controlled by Galvatron thanks to that large enigma.

Funny enough, this is the second combiner Sunstreaker has been a part of in IDW, and he has also been a headmaster, so the poor guy has been through a lot. And as k mentioned, Astrotrain was in a combiner in Deviations as well.

Furthermore, the reason that there aren't toys of those comic versions of Sky Reign and Galvatronus is because those comic versions of those two were made LONG after the toys versions were. So much so that the comic versions came about practically around the time with the CW toyline was all done.

If you feel you must blame someone for there not being toys for those comic versions of Sky Reign and Galvatronus, don't blame Hasbro for not making toys of those versions. But rather, blame IDW for completely ignoring how Galvatronus and Sky Reign were even done in the CW toyline.

But at the same time, think about the actual components of those 2 combiners. Cyclonus was the only true Galvatronus figure and he is a star in MTMTE/LL. And then Sky Reigns limbs are 3/4 Lost Lighters, and one of them has been dead for a couple years, so they never really stood a chance.

I'm just glad they included them in some sort of manner at all

Oh, I totally get why IDW didn't go the route of the toyline with these two. It's just that if people are going to complain about the toy versions and the comic versions of these two not being the same, credit where credit is due. ;)

Although, I wouldn't be surprised if the two's appearing in the comics at all the way they did was done to appease a Hasbro mandate for IDW to somehow put the two of them in the comics to promote the toys (even if the end result drastically contradicted how the toy versions were done).

Wouldn't surprise me either. But at the very least, they did look cool in the comics and it has had some interesting side effects (Thundercracker and Sunstreaker in particular)

Or we could still lie the blame with Hasbro - if they wanted IDW to advertise them, maybe don't make their toy versions nigh-impossible to have in modern IDW ;)

In any case I'm happy how it turned out. Still definitely lusting after toy versions of them, but it's no big loss.

Not gonna lie, I'd buy a CW Cosmos, if only to see how they managed to make something transform from a robot into a disc, an arm and a leg.

I just bought G2 Menasor from a TJ Maxx.

So I've got enough CW figures "spare" to make a whole combiner. I have Firefly, Alpha Bravo, Rook, Dragstrip and Silverbolt. Now I plan to get UW Superion (at some point), my Defensor is accounted for by the Maketoys set, and I'm not sure I'm going to bother with getting CW Menasor due to the fact he kinda sucks, so what I'm planning on doing is doing a bit of custom work and making them into an Autobot combiner made of obscure characters with little to no characterization. As such, Alpha Bravo and Rook will go unmodified. I'm thinking that with a bit of paint and some Shapeways magic, Dragstrip could make a good Rotor Force Leadfoot, but I'm not sure about Firefly or Silverbolt. Does anyone have any ideas for obscure Autobots (not just from G1 either) that they could be made into? And what should the combiner be called?

So I ordered Victorion from Amazon last week and received her Sunday. I didn't notice this until I was putting her into combiner mode, but I received two left hands (one with left hand fingers and one with right hand fingers). This is the first time I have received a Transformer with that sort of issue. So I have a replacement on order. The fact *I* have to box up the first one and bring it to the UPS store really irritates me.

I guess here is hoping that I receive the correct hands (or two right hands if they can't get that right). At least this way I can choose the figures with the best paint jobs and send the spares back.

Damn, that's awful :( Hope it doesn't ruin the figure in general for you.

Actually, it is kind of funny. The right hand was literally the last thing I was putting into place. So she still is just fine beyond a part that is getting replaced. If nothing else, my six year old daughter thinks she looks really cool. I do as well, but Victorion has the first grader seal of approval.

In the deep recesses of my mind, I kinda want to keep the sword from this set for my troubles. But that is not cool, so the sword goes back to Amazon.

I am torn between how I want to display her. I really like the helicopters as legs since I don't use them as legs for many of my combiners (Rook and Blades swapped places since Rook is a great arm, but since Hound is an arm on Sky Reign, I might move Blades back to an arm). The thinner legs look a little more feminine, I guess. The problem is that Jumpstream is kind of a crappy arm, but a great leg. Dustup is fine in either place. But overall I really like the figure, even though she has one thumb on the wrong side of the hand (currently.

I kept Victorion with the helicopters as legs. For some reason, the feet plus the cars as legs made for a very wobbly combiner that could not stand for too long. the helicopters are much more stable on mind.

Your issue does suck, but if you're going to have it, Amazon is the best to deal with. As you mentioned, you can pick the best of both sets before returning. I actually did that with a previous Amazon order (Predaking). I currently have an issue with something from Target, and they won't send me the replacement until they receive the new one, so that sucks more. And what sucks most is I couldn't even return it to the store. They forced me to mail it back.

In any case, I think Victorion is doing the price drop dance again. It's been very slowly sliding in price the last couple of days, and is currently at $60.16: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019849M98/re ... 3MX6NGQ1KU
