It also dawned on me they could do a Darkwing (repainted Silverbolt) plus four (or more) new-head F-14 seeker combiners (from Air Raid) as a set and/or convention exclusive.

Any interest or thoughts on those notions? ... seeker combiner? Drill limb for Protectobots?

I could see a Brawl mold being retooled into Nosecone rather than a drill limb for the protectobots. First Aid is too popular a character in IDW to be left out.

Darkwing is a really interesting idea though, because I was looking at Voyager Brainstorm last night and thinking how awesome/Simple it would be to retool/repaint him into Dreadwind. There's a lot of potential in that mould.

I don't think Silverbolt's CW altmode would look that great on Darkwing though. He's always been a beefier fighter jet to me.

It's a little disappointing that Silverbolt has incomplete wings in robot mode. And I wonder if the tail between the legs is mistransformed. Will wait to see if Takara does a more show-accurate deco. Mainly it's the shoulders, chest and knees. He's already pretty close, might as well go all the way. :)

Powerglide is the best of the bunch, looking forward to getting him.

I wouldn't wait for takara personally. It won't be too much hassle for reprolabels to cover the few parts that are off colour model. I prefer the gold/orange colour to the ghastly lemon yellow on the show model.

I don't like stickers though. It's not about the shade of yellow so much as the black shoulder guards and other details. Takara's generally the cheaper option for me, so it works out.

Hadn't thought of the Brawl retool idea, MemphisR56. I bet that's right on the money. As for the Darkwing idea, I think the fandom has already softened up to the idea with the earlier classics repaint/retool. I think a seeker box set like that would have to be a store exclusive or something, since it's a bit odd idea.

The way they're putting these out split over waves really pisses me off. That bullshit is why I was never able to complete 2 of the 3 Energon combiners. So I spend a bunch of money up front to start a combiner hoping that the next wave is actually easy to find, or I don't and when the parts to finish come out, oh hey, can't find the older ones anymore.

I miss the 80's, when these things could still be found on the shelves for like a year or two instead of just one or two short waves then vanish, other than overshipped pegwarmers.

To be fair, you can always buy online, if there's something you REALLY want, it's usually worth paying the extra $5-10.

That said I waited and waited to find Gen Cosmos and Swerve, only to come to the conclusion I wouldn't find them. So I just recently bought them online(BBTS). Awesome, piece of mind , right? Well this past Saturday I decided to hit up the local TRU, cause they were having hella sale. Lo and behold a cache of those guys, and with a buy one get one 40% off. DOH!

But you never know what you'll find and where. Gas might be way higher than it was 15 years ago, sure. But I'm not ready to give up driving twenty minutes to the local TRU just cause I can get whatever I want online. It just takes some of the fun out of the hobby, for me.

Slag that! I don't miss it. Weird people, late buses. And in Cedar Rapids the buses stop running at around 6, so you gotta really be on your game. If you miss a bus it's gonna be like an hour to an hour and a half for the next one.
Bigger cities are different, buses run more frequently, but out here public transit is dreadful.

And Cracky.. yeah..watch out for him! Chicago is the best for him, he wants money for opening your cab door, and if he doesn't get it..

Bringing home one was bad enough. I hated asking for rides, but I got lucky when my neighbor agreed to take me out so I could grab Metroplex, I would have really hated lugging that thing on the bus

I went to the Times Square TRU today to check out those Platinum Editions. I'll probably end up getting the Leader 2-pack from BBTS or HTS, but I'll pass on that FE Prime w/ Trailer + Sideswipe. It just looks... not good. At any rate, TRU in general (and Times Square specifically) is tough with exclusives, because it's much harder to get a price match on those products.

I totally brought Metroplex home on a NYC bus! He took up two whole bus seats.
