Oh man, just remebered. When I saw those photos of the AOE TRU Platinums from NYC store, the first thing I thought was, thats gonna suck on the subway! :lol:

I went to the Times Square TRU today to check out those Platinum Editions. I'll probably end up getting the Leader 2-pack from BBTS or HTS, but I'll pass on that FE Prime w/ Trailer + Sideswipe. It just looks... not good. At any rate, TRU in general (and Times Square specifically) is tough with exclusives, because it's much harder to get a price match on those products.

And you might get mugged on your way out.

mega-t? Is that 2-pack translucent? or just metalic-ish?

Times Square is a much, much friendlier place than it once was. Thankfully, the only major risk I have walking out of the TRU is someone in a Micky, Hello Kitty, or Woody costume stopping me to ask if I want to take a picture with them for $5.

Couldn't tell if it was translucent - since the sets are >$100, the boxes have those wire theft devices strapped to them, so I couldn't open the flap to look at the figures within.

We just might make a wolf out of you yet, Cobotron. ;)

When I was in grad school, I had to rely on the buses and trains to do most of my shopping, including Transformers hauls. I remember one night finding most of the "Classics" 2006 line at the Mall of America, coming home with two huge bags of figures on the light rail and bus, and then opening each up with the 1986 Transformers Movie playing on my TV. That was a great night.

I also remember buying an Xbox 360 at Block E, waiting for the bus holding my prize along with three games and an extra controller...and being approached by a pair of prostitutes who probably thought I was rolling in cash. Yeah...I like having a car now.

In the interest of staying on topic, I ask many of the people who prefer the 2008 Universe Ultra Class Silverbolt to the Combiners Wars Voyager class version, why not have both? For my displays, I like having the gestalt mode of each combiner team represented along with each individual member in robot mode. That way, each character gets representation on my shelves. For instance, I have the Universe 2008/RotF Superion and Bruticus standing behind Universe Silverbolt and Onslaught. Generations Ruination stands behind my Wreckers team of Generations Voyager Roadbuster and Whirl with duplicates of Generations Deluxe Impactor, Topspin, and Twin Twist. Mix and match!

I totally plan on having both. No one's taking away my Takara Ultra Class Silverbolt, or his mold mates.

I did not comment on that conversation earlier, but I don't prefer '08 Ultra to the CW S-bolt because he's not a combiner. I avoided that mold until I saw Darkwind and I had to have those colors.
I don't see the problem. As far as that lazy turtle shell transformation, they are the same toy. The lazy tf is what i like about them. That goes for their G1 Grandpa too.

I agree though, why not have both?

Hah the base modes, I could never do that with my silver bolt, my brother had lost the ramp when he owned him. Also shame that I found out about him connecting to metroplex after my parents gave him away :(

I never did catch the 08 silver bolt, or his redecos though I did catch storm cloud.

All this talk about hunting for toys makes me realise how lucky you guys have it over there ;) different kind of hunt here in this green and pleasant Isles (and I hear it gets worse the further East you go)

Yeah, the base modes USED to have launchers in them before they were ported over to the USA. That was the original awesome use for that mode. That is actually a huge bonus to the toy to me. Being able to add to Metroplex and launch vehicles is awesome.

Has anyone figured a good way to mod the USA version to add a spring and get it working?

Just to point out, in package images have Multi-Lingual text on them. :-B
That means there's a good chance that at least the first wave will be picked up by TRU UK. Though knowing them, it won't be until at least April :-(

I'm trying to figure out How the molds will redecco/retool into one another. Assuming Wave 3 and 4 are Defensor and Bruticus (and Later down the line we get our hands on *at least* Computron), Then we only need 3 new built from the ground up molds. Hasbro could achieve every character as Repaints or Retools. Which would mean the only main G1 Scramble City combiners we couldn't get would be Pirahnacon, Predaking and Abominus, who all have beastie modes.

SILVERBOLT -> SCATTERSHOT
ONSLAUGHT? -> HOTSPOT?
MOTORMASTER -> PRIME
AIR-RAID -> FIREFLY -> STRAFE?
SKYDIVE -> BLASTOFF/STRAFE?
ALPHA BRAVO -> VORTEX/BLADES?
DEAD-END -> STREETWISE/LIGHTSPEED?
DRAG STRIP -> LIGHTSPEED?
BREAKDOWN -> STREETWISE/LIGHTSPEED? -> WILD RIDER
OFFROAD -> SWINDLE?
BRAWL? -> NOSECONE?
GROOVE? -> AFTERBURNER?
FIRST AID

NB: This is all purely speculation of course. They could do a lot of interpretation with Lightspeed and Strafe. I figured a retool of Silverbolt into Scattershot wouldn't be too difficult, and a new Onslaught mold retooling into hotspot would fit well with how similar their G1 toys were in terms of transformation.

If I may make a slight correction: Air Raid and Firefly are not retools. They seem to transform similarly, like most of the G1 Aerialbots, but that's it.

I was thinking here...

Hasbro said somewhere that starting next year, every year is gonna have a theme...

So what if 2016's theme is like... Beastformers!

So we will have all the beast combiners (Predaking, Piranacon, Abominus), supposing that CW sells well; along with the remaining Beast wars characters we still didn't get updates on, like Tarantulas, Blackarachnia, Terrorsaur, etc... It would be cool.

On a separate note, I was looking around in a room here and found a K.O. Superion! Most of the limbs are very... Crappy... But I managed to make them stand just enough to combine them, and I forgot how much Superion was awesome. I'm very excited to see an updated take on this guy. I don't really mind Slingshot now being Alpha Bravo and being a heli.

We already had that theme in 2013 with Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters. And a bit this year with all the Dinobot and Rescue Dinobot stuff. And the Platinum Edition Predaking reissue. And with Rhinox, Rattrap, and Waspinator as icing on top.

I know the toys came out in 1995, but I think it'd make more sense for hasbro to have it as 1996 because that's when the beast wars methos as we know it began, I mean 2006 was the 10th anniversary after all, why not have 2016 as the 20th anniversary.

Then in theory, if the 4 waves of combiner wars take up the whole of 2015, one per quarter, then a continuation of the line in 2016 could feature beastformers like Predaking, Abominus, Piranacon, heck even Magnaboss and Tripredacus as part of a Beastwars 20th anniversary celebration.

Then a titan Class Trypticon? :grin:
