It's funny how people think Hasbro is following IDW character wise, for some it's true (Swerve, Tailgate and Brainstorm) but for almost every release since wave 1 2013, if they're not already in the comics, they've been shoehorned into the story at Hasbro's request, sometimes usefully, ie Rattrap, Scoop and Windblade, but mostly as just throwaway (could be anyone) appearances like Tankor, Rhinox and Crosscut. Even Starscream and Bumblebee's new bodies are because of the Generations releases.

In fact, we didn't know Slingshotnwas already dead in fiction until long after the Hasbro Superion reveal, and so far Alpha Bravo has had a single frame cameo explaining his presence in fiction. Not exactly much time to generate a fanbase...

Ah well, so far the CW releases have been great, and I'm looking forward to future waves.

Nothing. I just do not agree with the ideology that just because Taraka is releasing it means that we will see it here. And that is based on the fact that it has never happened. Of course it could, and that is why I wouldn't say 100%, but it is highly unlikely. If it does, then great. As another member said, it just adds to the combinations one can make. But, I like the IDW ideology that Slingshot is dead and replaced with AB, and Wildrider does not exist in favor of Off-road. Makes it distinctively different than geewun, as it should be. Because G1 ended in the early 90's. This is easy for me to accept. Not sure why some others are clinging on to something that ended 25 years ago?

I'm more willing to say TakaraTomy is releasing them first, before Hasbro, which has happened in the past. In no way have we ever said they'd be TakaraTomy exclusives (we never got a chance to, anyway). I've taken a little look in that TFW2005 thread, and they claim images are available, but not publicly. Give it some time, before claiming everything is not true just because it doesn't follow past trends.

Finally, I'd advise on leaving the people who have chosen to make Generations as an extension of Generation 1 alone. You may not agree with that, we may not agree with the Generation 3 standard you hold. But that sort of bantering deters from the points you try to make.

All we would need for that would be a fire engine limb, a drill tank limb, and a bullet train limb. But now that I think about that it sounds incredibly unlikely we'll get those, unless they make Technobots.

I can guarantee you that I am not the only one referring to this line as G3. There are millions of TF fans in this world. Do you think I am the only one who thinks this way? Furthermore, if it was done just at the request of Hasbro, then that kinda defeats the argument that Slingshot will appear at US retail, because why would they have AB as a stand in at ALL? Why not just skip the retcon on Slingshot and release superion with its five original components?

I see now, where we differ in ideology. You use the fiction as a bases of "how it should be". That's cool. Lot's of folks do. I personally don't, and haven't since 1984. My fiction is all in my imagination, not unlike your G3 theory. Also cool.
The main difference though is I don't try to shove it down peoples throats. It's a make believe world that is each individuals to enjoy on their own terms, and that's what makes it cool.

Hasbro you cheeky so and sos, youve managed to get a massive chunk of fandom to buy Alpha Bravo, having us think there would be no Slingshot, then BOOM you drop the S-bomb so most fans will buy again! Clever.

I will import a Slingshot for my new Superion and keep Alpha Bravo for Ultra Prime because I could see them doing the same thing for the other three Combiner Wars gestalts too!

I dont have the confirmed names of all the new Combiner Wars gestalt members to hand but like i said, the missing/replaced/stand-in figures could well be a clever sales tactic for fans to buy the set then fill in the original guys when they are released later leaving a set of limbs for CW Optimus to hang out with!

I do like the idea of a train transformer. Hopefully that will come to be one day as a new character or something. Someone else here mentioned the SWAT water tank vehicle as a possible stand in for one of Defensors components, and I liked that idea too.

My head is full of fun fiction. I consider Takara's Galaxy Force as G2 for example.

The way I see it, it's cool that Takara's releasing Sling in the Unite Warriors lines, even if it's just a reuse of the Firefly mold. And if Hasbro releases their own Generations Slingshot, that's cool too. Gives us seven Aerialbots. All that remains to be seen is if Hasbro's will likewise reuse the Firefly mold or be a new mold.

As for whether Hasbro's ever released something as an exclusive that was a general release from Takara, I cannot recall any examples off the top of my head, BUT I have this nagging feeling in the back of my head that something like this might have happened before, but again, I can't think of anything right now.

As for the whole "G1" (not "Geewun") thing, "Primax" is such an easier thing to work with.

Aside from those, yes, since that line's never been a main line in Hasbro markets.

Closest to being a main line was the original "20th Anniversary Optimus Prime" figure, but which wasn't sold under a "Masterpiece" label and was instead sold in G1-style packaging. Only recently has Hasbro finally created an actual "Transformers: Masterpiece" line for the West, but which are store exclusives only.

Shockblast, I don't think anyone is using Takara's release of Slingshot as proof that Hasbro is releasing Slingshot and Wildrider at some future date. They're going off of the reported computer listings from Toys 'R' Us. Granted, the info might be bogus, but it could be real. It's an expectation that's built upon not one, but multiple pieces of circumstantial evidence. Cautious optimism is warranted until we get more information.

As for Generation 1, consider that Takara has been releasing new G1 characters (or characters who never had a toy in the 80's) specifically for the original toyline through outlets like eHobby (Road Rage, Crosscut, Clamp Down, Deep Cover, Sunstorm, Hauler, etc.). Their release of Primus in 2006 was even packaged in a G1 styled box that specifically called out "Generation 1." Even if G1 is "dead and gone," it's been alive into at least this millennium, well past the "80's."

By the way, if someone were to ask a question at the Hasbro panel at the next BotCon along the lines of "Are the Classics, Universe 2008, and Generations lines supposed to be mostly updated forms for classic G1 characters" and Hasbro confirmed as such, would you then concede?

Its hasbro/takaras ongoing line of throwback homages to older characters from different continuities. There is no fiction, its a damn homage line of toys. Hasbro designs them and gives em s**tty paint schemes first. Then takara repaints them better with your favorite GEEWUN accuracy. Then IDW draws the toys into their comics after they exist. And half of the people who buy these homages dont give a crap about the new comic fiction that was created to help sell toys. If you do and want to dub it as "G3" so be it. But in reality its just a bunch of old characters getting new better toys. Think of the new IDW fiction as a billboard to sell toys. But as I stated before, CHUG is just a slang for hasbro/takaras ongoing homage lines. These lines dont just contain GEEWUN inspired figures. They also contain beast wars, beast machines, armada, G2, OG RID, and WFC/FOC homages.

Also read the damn article. These listings come from a TRU computer. Yes there are fans that work for TRU and browse the upcoming product listings to provide us this information that hasbro doesnt want us to know yet.

And honestly I could care less if you buy optimus prime and 4 alpha bravos to build your own wacky combiner to protest GEEWUN homages. But you should be happy for those who are getting what they want. You dont see me complaining that youre getting a godzilla grimlock, a wolf faced robot and a bumblebee with pedophile eyebrows in your beloved RID line. So, wow. Heck of a lot of stuff to sift through, but I did have a comment to counter shockblast2's ascertion, though my example isn't a store exclusive, as far as I know... Here are a couple of the relevant posts, in case no one wants to go back about 6 hours and 40+ posts ago...

They do not do that historically. Did we see Senator Rat Bat? Prime Ironhide? AOE Stinger? DOTM Soundwave? RTS Rumble & Frenzy? Scores of others. Again, doesn't make sense.

However, all of those molds were made by Hasbro, even if some of them weren't released by Hasbro or weren't released in those particular decos.

We got Ratbat's mold when it was first released as Scourge, and we'll be getting the Ratbat head a TFSS Serpent O.R.
We got Prime Ironhide's mold when it was first released as Prime Sergeant Kup.
DOTM Soundwave did get released in Hasbro's Asian markets.
The Rumble/Frenzy mold was going to be released at the end of the Reveal the Shield line a "Demolition Rumble", but it got canceled even though the mold was completed. But, we did get it as TFSS Revwind and Eject (with remolded heads).

Takara might have released them, but only because Hasbro had already made them.

Thus far, Takara hasn't made any new molds or remolds for their counterpart lines of Hasbro's Generations line (meaning United, Japanese Generations, or Legends), so it's likely that Takara's Unite Warriors release of Sling will just be a straight redeco of Hasbro's Generations Firefly. But if it does have a new head, then chances are Hasbro's will as well since Hasbro (not Takara) seems to be the brains behind the Generations molds and remolds.

And who knows? Hasbro's Slingshot might just be the Firefly mold too.

Now, I don't mean to suggest that Hasbro is definitely giving us these molds. But I think these pictures show that there is, indeed, precedence for Hasbro doing so in the past. Both Thrust and Dirge were Botcon Exclusives first (with a remolded Thrust and just a straight up repaint of Ramjet for Dirge), then Henkei releases (with a new remold for Thrust and a new remold for Dirge). I bought the Henkei because at the time the argument was that Hasbro would never release these two figures after okaying them for Botcon. Then, son-of-a-gun, the Henkei saw widespread release by Hasbro.
