I just don't see it from this mold. But anything is possible, right? :ic$:

I don't see how Hot Spot looks any more like Fire Convoy than he does Smolder, and I'd rather have Smolder than another Optimus Prime. He's got an awesome name, PCC bots formed some pretty Scramble-esque torsos, and since Hasbro tends to make more Autobots than Decepticons another con would be welcome to me.

Now that I see! :michaelbay:

And I totally agree that the Decepticons are getting shafted in CW. If I was going in on Cyclonus and decided to use the Hasbro replacement limbs for him I'd cover their Autobot symbols with Reprolables' Decepticon symbols. That's how I turned Movie Stealth Bumblebee into Wasp. :CON:

I feel that nerd and geek are pretty much interchangeable. Nerd is just an older version of the same concept. I think with any fandom it all boils down to this:

To geek, is to love.

I will happily claim that label with open arms.

That would be a pretty dope Soundwave. I wonder if they could intergrate his shoulder weapon into the transformation or just drill a port up there?

And who wouldn't love some CW cassette bot love? They could be stored in his back where the other legends plug in.

This is what I hope happens eventually. A Soundwave retool of the Optimus mould and some cassette bots (who don't necessarily have to be actual cassettes) to go with him are the only things I'd still like from Combiner Wars at this point, and there were some leaked store listings a while ago saying we're getting Legends-size Buzzsaw, Rewind and Stripes, which could all be easily repainted into the Decepticon cassettes.

As for the Ark-Autobot retools, I don't mind them too much, more than anything I'm just happy we're getting a new Ironhide so I can forget about the terrible Universe Deluxe. I'll definitely buy Mirage and Ratchet (assuming Ratchet actually happens) as well, but I think I'll skip on Prowl and Sunstreaker because I'm not overly fond of either character.

Deluxe Groove was revealed and if he is indeed supposed to be used for Afterburner, there will be A LOT of retooling to do. The fact that this toy is so distinct makes it almost a guarantee for me that he will be issued by Hasbro like Quickslinger and Brakeneck were.

Already a lot of talk of Groove being re-purposed as Afterburner in the Unite thread. Legends Groove's alt mode makes a better Technobot in my eyes.
Gotta say though, those guns look awfully Technoboty.

Cheers, everyone. Fun conversation we have here today.

And another thing. A bit of imagination working here, but iirc, in Japan, their "Scramble City" schtick, when you mix and match the limbs, you are supposed to get different outputs for the teams. Like, putting Dragstrip and the like who have top speed abilities on the feet makes menasor move faster or vice versa on the arms gives him a multi hit fast punching ability.

Maybe that can meld in with the current fiction?

I like that!

Wonder who'd do what. I'd think Offroad would provide sue footing on treacherous terrain as a leg, and a powerful grip (useful both for climbing and for crushing Autobot armor) as ana rm.

Perhaps the chest plates could have a effect too, beyond just being extra armor, like Blackjack 's cool head and strategic mind ease the mental integration of the Stunticons and give Menasor some small measure of mental clarity.

Ironhide wasn't a part of that combiner, though.

Nor was Sunstreaker.

Or Prowl.

Only Optimus and Mirage were.

Close enough. ;)
In fact, Optimus Prime isn't even a part of this combiner either. Optimus Maximus is.

So really, only Mirage is involved in both.

I've seen the name Optimus Maximus attached to this wave, but I don't recall it ever being announced whether it was for the Voyager or the combined form.

Optimus Maximus was the name on the box for the combined form of Voyager Optimus Prime and the Wave 1 limbs.

So yes, as the toy and the comic make clear, Optimus Prime is part of this combiner, which appears to be called Optimus Maximus.

Yeah, I love the idea of different configurations having drawbacks and/or benefits. Same for simply deciding WHOM to take on a mission. With so many great scramble city options, you could choose based on storage, ladder, aerial capability, speed, firepower, or even just personality, confidence and leadership ability.

As for the Groove reveal, I hope we see it repainted as both Afterburner (that's the cycle right?) and a load of different Junkions. They should do a troop builder in different colors and heads. Maybe put out a box at Target or somewhere with one in cycle mode and a couple on each side with different heads.

Probably using the legends Groove mold. And if thats the case then not sure if they would release a Deluxe as well. But that didnt stop Hasbro from releasing Legends and Leader Thundercracker the very same year (along with Leader Starscream and MP Starscream).

Yeah that was a strange choice with thundercracker. I'd like to see a new deluxe wreck-gar though. The RTS version just falls a little shy of perfect for me.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.
