Yah! Hollow parts have been implemented in the past. God Ginrai/PM Optimus Prime ring a bell? Though wishing it be done in a not so obvious manner.

Yeah always been hollow figs once in a while.
>:oP

Also don't see the big deal in some newer Transformers toys having hollow parts.

Bad example, Ginrai has hollow parts that are part of his trailer. Trailers should be hollow and Ginrai's is functional as well.

Nobody puts Ginrai in a corner!

His arms and his thighs (the cab part) are hollow. just like Legends Jetfire's. And no, I wasn't laying it hard on Ginrai as that "Oni" is one of my best faves. :P

Hollowed parts unfortunately have been implemented for the last 30 years, only not as glaring as Jetfire.

Holy Finicky Piece of Cybertronian Slag Batman!!!

Thanks so much for the video. I'm very disappointed in the cheap plastic, hollow pieces, lack of paint apps, big hole under head in robot mode, and the unneeded complexity in transformation. This is an easy pass. I'll spend this money on Star Wars Legos since Hasbro continues to shovel in the overpriced slag by the truckload   . Wait...what am I saying? I cannot find much of Hasbro Transformer slag on the pegs here anymore. Coincidence?

The aesthetic of the figure looks great but the quality of it looks really cheap, like KO cheap. I'll need to see another review.

Although I both kind of agree and fear this statement, the same was said about Jet Fire, and I personally have learned to love him despite this. I hope for the same with UM.

I love Jetfire as well, but only because a paid just twenty bucks for him. I feel the same about this Magnus figure, h looks very awesome, for a voyager but not for leader class. Unfortunately for my wallet, my love for the character outweighs my better sense. If I see him in stores, and that's a big if given CW/ generations distribution in my area, I'll buy him right up. If not, I'll wait for the Takara version as I like that paint job much, much better.

Normally I'm pro-Takara because of cost and not everything makes it my way (and if it days it takes FOREVER and I end up spending a fair bit in fuel to find them) but in this particular case, I want Minimus Ambus over Alpha Trion.

My Takara UM is already on pre-order. I wonder... Should I customise my Alpha Trion into a Minimus? :-?

Wouldnt it make more sense to buy the Hasbro version and paint the rims and very minor paint apps ? That is, unless you like the red thighs or the slightly different shade of blue that much...

I do..... But after reading your "rant" - and it making some sense :-? :-? - that's probably what I'll do >:oP .

I already have the takara version on pre-order. It will be a true test of my constitution to resist the Hasbro version if I see it in the wild. But even harder will be waiting til September for the Tak release. :-s

This transformation review didn't kill the figure for me, though it does leave me with questions still unanswered. I'm pretty close to certain I'll be getting Magnus via some sale this summer or fall. All will be answered by Emgo.

I do wish I could afford the Takara version because I like the blue better and I actually think the red thighs look nice, but the downside other than price is no Minimus Ambus. I'm curious how well the little guy fills the gap under the head, not that I mind it so much. As I said earlier, I tolerate it with Springer and Sandstorm.

I wish the hands had that half open 5mm cup like Reveal the Shield Tracks. That would have solved the loose gun handle issue. Worst case I'll use a little tape to add some friction, if I even need to. It does look like Magnus holds the hammer just fine, though I wish they would have included a proper hammer along with his rifle instead of this whole assembly thing. I'm not a fan of assembly weapons that don't look exactly like what they are supposed to. It's like Hot Spot's rifles. The G1 figure had two rifles. Defensor had two rifles. So why add a peg to make a ridiculously long riffle that looks like two rifles stuck together? I'll chalk that up to playability for kids and leave it at that. Nothing wrong with doing things for the kids, we need them to purchase these toys too. >:oP

As for the hollow thighs, doesn't bother me at all, and maybe Reprolables will produce a sticker set that covers them up like Jetfire's forearms. I just hope they don't go overboard and take the upgrade out of my price range. #-o

Speaking of Reprolables and Jetfire, now I wish I took advantage of the end of the year sale to get the big hollow guy. That Skull Leader sticker set is awesome and I totally want a Leader Jetfire now so I can apply that set. Classics Voyager Jetfire will always be my Skyfire. That mold has some minor posing issues but otherwise is close to perfect, except for being Voyager instead of Leader. I wish Hasbro would have upscaled that and fixed all the little things to make it perfect, but I get why they went with the new mold.

Long story short, I'm a happy camper. :PEACE:

Ive been really eyeing him with that sale...but just cant do it yet.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

Yeah always been hollow figs once in a while.

And for the young'uns....remember G1 Onslaught's double barrel canon? In the 1985 version, both had hollow barrels. The recent Encore had it fixed. So it depends on the cost but TT can fix the hollow parts if they want to.

True true.

And why not Energon, RID and Universe Spychangers, Cybertron (even though it's just a recolor of RID), Animated, PRID voyager and cyberverse, G2, Beast Hunters voyager and cyberverse, Platinum, FoC and Mebsuta, Cloud, the other Titaniums figure, Alternity, the other Masterpiece figure, Battle in a Box/Armada, Revoltech, and Ultra Mammoth while we're at it? I know I'm still missing some too.

Get them all to Shartimusprime so he can throw an Ultra Magnus Party. Nobody would be there though because Ultra Magnus can't deal with that now.
