I still can't help but think that this middle component's retooling has to be a reference to something. It's too specific to be just something that someone came up with simply because they thought it was cool.Rodimus Prime wrote:To stay with Masterforce continuity, 1 component of Black Zarak would have to be named Devil Z, right?Emerje wrote:Since they haven't given him a name I'm thinking about making this guy Olin Zarak since he's a pirate and this figure has an eyepatch. I'm wondering if it's maybe something from the Masterforce manga. I have all three volumes of Viz's G1 manga books, but I haven't yet read Volume 2 or 3 yet. I need to find time to at least read Volume 2 and see what's what with Scorponok/Black Zarak in the manga.

What about the gold plastic used on SS 86 Grimlock's chest. I think Hasbro finally cracked the code for gold there.

Is it gold plastic? I thought it was painted?

That's what I thought, too, but I don't feel like taking mine apart to see for sure (not until my upgrade parts show up from China anyway). I do have a little bit of rubbing on the sides of his body from his arms that sort of looks like paint wear, but it isn't deep enough to tell if it's actually paint or plastic.

I know o.supreme suggested it could be a reference to Zone, where be reappeared as one of the generals. I second the call for capes.
So, now with the release of Black Zarak, could one get all the 9 generals? And how much would it cost since so many were Titan Class...

There eyepatch is definitely Zone, just not sure about the battle Damage. As for the Nine Destron Generals, I currently have Eight, and BZ will be the 9th. Getting them at retail price is one thing, getting them now would be quite a destroyer of many people's income... I'll just put the "normal" Price in US Dollars. Personally I prefer UW when possible, but I know the CW versions will be less expensive:
CW Devastator $150
CW Menasor $100
CW Bruticus $100
TR Trypticon $150
TR Overlord $50
PotP Predaking $150
PotP Abominus $110
GS King Poseidon (From Pulse) $250
GS Black Zarak (From Pulse) $170
Total: $1,230
Unfortunately however, if you have none of these, it's going to cost way more since many of them are only available on the secondary market.
Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

Doesn't the TFWiki have at least a summary? Or do you prefer unfolding a new story 1 detail at a time for maximum effect?Sabrblade wrote:I still can't help but think that this middle component's retooling has to be a reference to something. I definitely wouldn't be opposed to a CC Overlord at some point in the future, but Since we just got TR Overlord 4 years ago, There are many other characters that still have not had any updates that I would want to see come first.

The chest may be a subtle reference to how (in typical Dragon Ball fashion) God Ginrai stormed through his chest in his final battle. As for the eye patch, it be a reference to Zone, arrrrrrr.
Also, it's worth noting that according to the Masterforce Special Files, Scorponok (the smaller unit) was directly hardwired inside the Black Zarak body, similar to Cylas in Prime.

"JUST 4 years ago?"
Go back to the nursing home, old pal!
But seriously, many figures that appeared in that trilogy were already remade in SS'86 and the current WFC trilogy. Notably Rodimus Prime. Overlord definitely need his Commander update. And I'm pretty sure it's for sooner rather than later.

o.supreme wrote:I'll ignore the condescending tone of your comment if you heed the gravity of mine.. Anyway.... No, 4 years is not long at all, especially when I can think of a few dozen characters from 1984-1990 that have not had a proper update in the last decade, and at least 4 or 5 would be CC that haven't been done yet.
Joking aside, you can expect that the "main characters" will be redone first without any silly weird gimmick like head-mastering or combining. Weird and obscure characters are slowly coming along in the current trilogy like Spinister and even recent "OCs" like Barricade. Just give it time.
Still waiting for a proper update to the Pretenders, especially Bludgeon and Thunderwing...
