It's mostly just the legs (and parts of the arms) that are left, did you really hate his legs that much?

It does look to be a ridiculously simple figure even for a $55 Triple (quadruple?) changer, though.

On topic, thinking of BW Second and its weird mish-mash of lines, is Megastorm a possibility for ‘Titan Class’ Selects? It wouldn’t take much to retool Generations Trypticon, after all.

I think Takara might be a bit skittish on that after what happened with Grand. Probably best to hedge bets on "No redecos of titan class" until something changes.

To be fair, Trypticon generally retails as the cheapest of the Titan Class now. So if they didn't Overcharge for him ala Masterpiece, I don't think they would have the same push back as with Grand. The pricing of which was a bad idea on their part to begin with.

You're expecting them to take that into consideration  Takara would retail him for £200 and you know it ;)

Indeed. They really don't think practically or logically when it comes to pricing the line as a whole. Not every fan cares about every character, therefore not every figure is worth a set value.
EG. I like the Four default City Bots. I had no interest at all in any of the redecos.

Grand was never going to sell under those conditions. He isn't popular enough No Matter The Cost ala MP-44 or had arbitrary goal posts, that were "moved" when genuine competition presented itself ala HasLab Unicron.

Did I read that the variance in Japanese Transformers prices from Takara coming down to part count / material involved rather than some arbitrary demand consideration?

Anyone?

I've got to say that from the online magna, I love the frame with King Poseidon sitting there with all 4 limbs in gun mode. Defnintely going to be doing that once I have the seacons in hand.

Hmm. Something looks kinda off about him proportionally. But I do like him- also he doesn't seem to be a Headmaster anymore, and considering that was the greatest flaw with TR Galvatron, I'd say that's an improvement.

Now, show us Armada Prime.

You're pointing fingers at the wrong culprits with this one. The toys had the same issue with the names, so Takara is to blame for this one, not Toei for simply having to stick with what was mandated by the toys in order to advertise said toys. Blame the toys, not the show.

I like him, even if obviously a year of mild hype will always make things a bit of a letdown....is what I would say if not the hint that he's a triple changer! For one thing I'm a sucker for triple-changers. Yes his original mold was one but only barely and was expecting this retool to drop the third mode only to find out it apparently can turn into Ultra Megatron and has the tank mode or apparently might, according to the manga.

Also TR Galvatron is a decent Generations figure. People need to stop whining about it. Its a perfectly fine mold marred by pretty bad implementation of the early waves of Titan Master gimmicks.

Super Megatron is looking pretty good. Not perfect, but pretty good overall. I'm curious how they handled his massive cheek guards, as his chinline is obscured and it looks like they just molded part of it on his chest. It will be interesting to see how/if they found a balance between accuracy and, you know, allowing his head to move.

Super Megs looks awesome. I liked the TR Galvy mold and thought it was fun, especially the Arwing mode. The only thing I didn't like was the flip up mask, but that's gone now.

I lost my sub to this thread and only skimmed it after the news post, but do we know if Super Megatron is going be released via HasbroPulse here in the states?

Btw I love how mental this design is once you get past the initial 'core' Megatron elements of the design. Spiky winged shoulders with missile launchers! A spaceship mode that make no attempt to be serious or logical and just look like a flying gun. An equally mental tank mode.

If not for the rather tame colors of the design this thing could be a Unicron Trilogy-era Megatron if his colors were wilder.

Gotta admit, this Megs is sexy as F.

Will this be a Takara exclusive or will it find itself at Toys R Us and such at some point?

The only thing I truly find crap with this figure is they didn't bother fixing the hollow forearms of the Galvatron mold but that was to be expected.

Looks nifty, but I'm still over Super Megatron. Still an excellent choice for Selects, though.

I dunno if the TR Galvy mould is still bad after so many changes. The head is different - without the crown mechanic it seems to functions like a normal head now. His gigantic canon is now exactly the right size for the character and doesn't hinder the articulation in that arm. The treads on the arms are gone, so articulation isn't hindered there either. The elbow joints are still kind of awkward looking, but ... it looks like they saved the mould to me.

On the subject of Convoy's re-death ... I'm a cynical guy when it comes to these things. I think they killed off all the characters who didn't have toys anymore to push new product. In the end it still is a half hour toy commercial, even if I like the half hour toy commercial. Although I have not seen Headmasters, so I don't know how much is actually artistically valid. It may very well be a super fantastic show with excellent writing and well-thought out character arcs. I legit can't say.

Btw anyone else think the torso transform when he become Ultra Megatron? Assuming the manga is accurate to the toy:

The 'Ultra' form has an assymetrical chest but the image we've seen of the robot mode has a symmetrical one.

So far the comics have been accurate to the toys, so he might have another chest hidden in there. That panel also shows his head beign a bit different too. And the toy has something weird going on there too.
