Apologies, I'm way too lazy to quote properly.

3x more expensive than the originals were at retail
twenty-three years ago, sure. But certainly not 3x more expensive than they are complete on eBay years later, or than they'd be as reissues.
Exactly, 3x more than I paid for the Japanese imports and 5x more than I paid for the local releases, so I aint paying that now or ever when I still have mine.

There, you have more of a point. Although who knows? Maybe firing missiles (the feature it particularly hurts to lose) can be added as a stretch goal. And frankly, losing Ultra Magnus' electronics will be a net gain.
Its a sad day when losing electronics is considered a gain like Trypticon, Omega and more
I cant have batteries or a rip cord on my Gi Joes, turtles or other non bot lines so I want electronics in some of my robots.
Even if it's best to leave batteries out I know i'm 100000% happy that my Ressiue Japanese G1 galvatron can make awful noises or encore Omega can go around his tracks.

1. What are you even pronouncing "removal of quality" based on? Aside from giving up on the rubber tires, which even you are admitting didn't last well.
Lets face it the wheels have been bad on most of the car bots for the last soooo long. Inner pegs, outer pegs, metal pins, mismatched. To have these wheels be one piece plastic and not two piece is a lack of quality -and that is not even counting if they are chromed inners or not.
blackeyedprime wrote:Could these have been done at retail? With the £90 Commnder classes, yeagh thye probably could have.Plus then we might have got the yellow Optimus repaint.
1. Doing them at retail would probably have required
two Commander slots in the same line in the same year or else shoehorning one of them into Studio Series, and they likely would have more sacrifices made instead of being able to do anything to
improve on the originals.
Probably not, they get a lot of scope doing toys they can make a profit on selling for £45 selling for £90+ so they could have been commanders.
blackeyedprime wrote:Not really convinced on this over the originals but it's nice enough for those that want it and it's not superfluous like starsaber was so bonus points for that.
How was Star Saber "superfluous"? Don't forget that MP Star Saber has multiple joint issues by most accounts w/o aftermarket upgrades, and still has no accompanying Victory Leo without resorting to 3P toys. And last time I was looking at it on eBay, that 3P Victory Leo was like $300.

From the past so looong it looks like Hasbro promotes after market upgrades, they could have just relased v2 of the MP if they had the ability to improve on existing molds like Weijang
Plus the MP toy scale works with recent toys as is. They just needed Takara to get off their butts and copy the third party Leo (it's not as though they didnt do that with MP ultra magnus).
