The original can barely point his arms forward.
This one, may be able to get his hands close enough, but both modes have solid fingers, so no way to interlock them to recreate that attack
.
I was under the impression that Super Mode had Jetfire-style hands. Not perfect but good enough for a little GGG homage.
Sort of. The ports do not seem to retract into the palm like Jetfire’s do. But the fingers are molded together. You may be able to bring the hands together to sort of fake it with one fist inside the other hand, but will depend on shoulder articulation.

The combined mode idea always was alright and of course the trailer has a much more interesting base mode then G1 Prime (Not to say that the G1 base mode was bad or anything)
*I know this is kind of unrelated but I'm holding a funeral for the late RID deluxe Windblade on my collection page, check it out if you are really that bored. Thank you.

However, there's no denying that the feedback and responses to this figure have been really positive.
So I'm happy for everyone who has wanted this updated figure, and in the grand scheme, for me this is another situation where I have to acknowledge that Hastak is doing a bang-up job with the vast majority of these new releases.
Sure, I'm passing on almost literally 80% of this line, but that doesn't mean all of those figures are bad.
They're just not for me (and don't fit into my collection).

I think people forget just how big and successful Armada was. For many fans, this was THEIR G1.

There's lot of Armada fans, and it's the differences with G1 that make this version of Optimus interesting for many. There's no need to gratuitously diss segments of the fandom just because they don't align with your taste.

I'm a a die-hard geewunner, but I collected Armada back in the day, then I gave it to my kids. Those bots that survived got sold to a reseller. They were nice toys and were certainly more articulated than the brickbots I picked up back in the 80's, but they didn't have the same emotional attachment.
Anyway, I'm ready for something new. I've gotten kinda tired of the 873rd version of Prime and the 4,702nd version of Bumblebee.

Remind me where I said armada was stupid or that figure's spot should have gone to someone else. Did I say that?

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

I have no desire for towline but he's an interesting one. Looks like mad max mystery machine or something. Was he a prominent character in RiD?

Beat ya to it by six hours over in this thread, since the leaked listings said it's a Buzzworthy Bumblebee release.Ig89ninja wrote:So this popped into my recommendations.

Gotta give Don Julio a try bro. Not a "shot" tequila, more one for sipping like a good whiskey.

Sowndwave76 wrote:I wouldn't call myself "die-hard" for G1, and yet almost nothing else gets my attention.
I've said it before-- all of my interest in TF really stems from nostalgia; mainly from the show... And yeah, the old toys to some extent, but more so the cartoon and the '86 movie.
Which is why screen accuracy and bot modes are so important to me.
And why I don't care about parts-forming if it aids those aspects.
And why I don't care much about complexity/simplicity of transformation.
And why I don't give a shizz about weapon storage.
Sowndwave76 wrote:But even with G1 characters, I don't like nor want them all.
If a figure (or really, character) doesn't look as good as I want it to, I'll pass on it.
Which is why I skipped everything from Siege except Springer and the 35th Anniversary versions of OP and Megs.
Another factor in me sticking to G1 characters is the cost...
I'm not going to spend money on figures I don't really want. And the financial side isn't really the issue.
I'm so far beyond getting figures "just to have them". That's where collecting gets really stupid imo.
I've narrowed what I have left to collect based on character.
Until there's some surprise releases that are currently unknown, I'm down to a 9 figure "Want" list.
And one of those is Core Thundercracker. Core Swoop, Core Snarl, and the Nemesis are all maybe's at this point. I know there's leaked rumor of a deluxe G1 Gears for next year, but even he's a maybe. It's going to be interesting to see which figure is my last, but as of right now it looks to be SS86 Swoop.
I think I would be up for something new... But there are a few really solid reasons for me to bow-out by the end of 2024 (or as soon as I have my two copies of Swoop).
The good news for all of the non-G1 fans/collectors is that it looks like Hastak may be starting to get some good footing for continuing to branch-out and away from the OG's.
But that same group better hope all these Armada fans rise up and show up with their $$$$, because more and more 45+ yr olds like myself are probably buying less and less (if not retiring from the game all-together); if these multitudes of fans of other series don't step up financially, I wouldn't bank on TF toy lines continuing to thrive as they has been.

I can't believe I'm saying this... bland. I'm gonna wait on an in-person look because photos do add mass in the wrong places. The hands definitely cement the Monstructor association... But guys, they're dinos, not the Monsters we know:
Would take a lot of retooling to get the proper Monster Modes (some more than others)... But I'd be very pleasantly surprised if they did. For now, I'm betting on Dinoking or maybe a G2 redeco.
