Deisgner Notes and Images for Legacy United Deluxe Slipstream and Quake

Postby william-james88 » Wed Jun 12, 2024 9:34 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Mark Maher has posted his notes on 2 new reveals for the Legacy line: Quake and Slipstream. Both are based on previous molds but Quake has a substantial amount of retooling over the previous Skullgrin mold. You can check out the images and comments below. Preorders go up TOMORROW (thursday).

For todays reveal, I wanted to make sure you got to see the final product photos with our awesome Legacy United background. But nowwwww, I couldn’t wait to get some shots of her myself, even if the colors are not final. I wanted to make sure to show off all the positions for the null ray blasters, a decepticon seeker must!
.
So please, do yourself a favor and scan through all the photos. I saw most of you were looking for a voyager scale to be equal with Starscream and I have noted that to the team. But, BUT, this cyberverse styled Slipstream hits hard in hand. If nothing else the colors, the colors, ohhhh the glorious tones of color, what a symphony to the eyes here! I actually dig the petite scale difference with ol SS.
.
If there is something I learned here on @instagram is its the fandom for Transformers is not only a lovable passionate group, but everyone is extremely opinionated! Its near impossible to satisfy everyones wants and needs, you can only go with your gut instinct in the end and hope everyone sees what you were at least trying to accomplish!
.
Big shouts out to Koki san over in Takara Tomy who worked on this glorious tool! The articulation and transformation is solid, and please take a good look at her backside cause its looking just as good as the front! That super sonic cybertronian influenced jet design tho, it just screams hypersonic speeds beating all sorts of astrocycle tests!
.
You can see the main differences in final product will be the teal color is metallic in the final product but its NOT metallic here. Also, the canopy is tinted teal in final product but NOT here, it is clear, so for final product, AGAIN, metallic teal and teal tinted cockpit!
.
Quake next!

Oh my my my these bad boys are coming atchya and the autobots are gonna be in a world of pain. Welcome a powerful double targetmaster whose thunderous blast shakes the earth, Legacy United Quake has come to drop some tiptop heat !
.
My homey Tomo san from Takara has just been knocking it out the park with these earth shattering partials! He led the way on this dude and I played a little catch up when it came to my lil target master darlings!
.
Its wild how these colors come off so bright in photos but in hand the deep saturated tones melt your heart. His face sculpt really sings up close and the details on the new molded Target Masters make this guy a must have. He has multiple blast compatible weapons and movable gun barrel turret.
.
Being based off of skullgrin makes this dude the perfect size to complete his target master gang! More reveals tomorrow, I'm already exhausted after one day!

Don't know who these two are but Quake's Bot mod looks okay/good and might get for that as I need more Decpeticons. Not digging the alt mode though.

Quake is one of the Decepticon Double Targetmasters from 1988. To this day, he has only appeared in comics fiction, as the G1 cartoon was dead when his original toy came out, and no Japanese cartoon ever used him because he toy was not released in Japan.

Image

Slipstream is a female Seeker (the first one of several to follow) whose color scheme is purple and teal. She first appeared in Transformers Animated as a clone of that series's Starscream (as did all the other Seekers in that show), but later series decided to make her a normal Seeker like the others, dropping the clone aspect and letting her be her own character.

This particular version of Slipstream represented by this new toy is specifically supposed to be the version of Slipstream as seen in the Transformers: Cyberverse series, but aside from the colors, it looks nothing like her Cyberverse design, as Hasbro chose to reuse the Legacy Windblade mold for her when Windblade is not a Seeker at all and looks nothing like one. Not to mention the fact that this toy's headsculpt looks nothing Slipstream's head either, as it is basically just Starscream's head with some new ears added to it, when Slipstream's head design is supposed to be more angular and feminine.

Missing Link for the every-man and those who felt importing was too much hassle.

It's a fairly nice figure, even if it is super tiny. Not core class tiny, but pretty small regardless.

The figures showing holding 2 rifles. not sure if he comes with 2, or its just for the photos.

EDIT: He does come with 2 rifles.

I would assume if there are 2 rifles, it would be to reference G1's 2 styles of rifle: bloated and thin.

Also, smoke stacks can be held as small pistols. Matrix and Axe are there too.

I'd love a White repaint of this.

We have several reveals today. The one for the Legacy line is deluxe Optimus Prime based on the G1 toy. So it's very similar to missing link but this will just cost you less than $30. Mark Maher, the designer, has provided a whole blurb about it, which you can read below. We also have, from BBTS of all places, the official reveal for the upcoming multipack of modernized EHobby redecos, which include Gobots Pathfinder, Small foot and Treds.

The video revealing these can be found here: https://twitter.com/BigBadToyStore/stat ... 2802864180

Quake makes me wish I had bought Spinister instead of Crosshairs during Siege  O well, I guess a re-release with new Targetmaster redecos isn't in the books?

That one was at least retooled enough to convincingly pretend to be a Seeker. This one's just a "Nemesis Windblade".

I never owned any OG G1/reissues OP, nor the new Missing Link version. I'll be getting this Deluxe OP. But I can imagine some 4P/KO company stealing the mold and come up with diecast & chromed/metallic paint version, and maybe even a trailer down the road. If so I'll likely buy THAT as well if Hasbro double dip.

If TT announces Missing Link Megatron, then I'll instantly go and order no-trailer Missing Link.

I've feel Optimus tends to have really good deluxe toys so this is a pick up & this actaully looks like it may be a better toy then the Missing Link. So gotta get it in hand just to see if that's the case.

G1 Prime has only had 1 other deluxe figure and it was terrible.
Bay Movie Prime had one, and it was o.k.
Armada Prime had one and was great.
Energon had 1 and it was terrible.
Animated had 2. one was o.k, the other was impossible to get and had the black goo all over him. But the mold was pretty good.

I think that's all of them outside of Cyberverse and 2015 R.I.D.

Someone will no doubt correct me if I missed one.

New Mark IG post has the color-tweaked Metalhawk PR now, looks like darker gold, darker grey, lighter blue: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8IeCdNu ... BqbGU5NW5z

G1 Optimus looks surprisingly good, but it was never something that I would get and I wish the budget went to a different character.
Quake also looks surprisingly good and is someone I'll be picking up, was not expecting him to get as much retooling as he did.
Any Slipstream that doesn't actually use a Seeker mold is a waste.
Kinda don't like everything about Pathfinder (no visor, don't like the mold, color scheme is still really close to normal Cosmos), but I'm invested enough in getting Treds and Smallfoot that I guess I'm just gonna have to deal.
Already got Metalhawk last year.

Well you did miss the First Edition one and the video game ones. I would also consider a lot of those better then just ok.

This is true,

WFC less than stellar. FOC, was just o.k.

Ahh Never owned the SDCC deluxe prime prime. Was it good?

It's an okay figure. A little odd in its proportions, but overall not bad.

RID15 Warrior class Optimus is trash. Or at least, the normal one is. I never got the retooled winged one.

Cyberverse Deluxe Optimus is okay. Never got any of the Warrior class versions.

EarthSpark Deluxe Optimus is also okay. Never got the Warrior class version either.
