Transformers Legacy Line Discussion
Re: Transformers Legacy Line Discussion
Galvatron looks great. The price is perfectly acceptable as this figure aimed at the (many?) collectors who didn't buy the Kingdom version due to the cr@pple-damage paint.
Now all Hasbro has to do, if they've ACTUALLY "listened to the fans", is re-release all of the other figures they ruined the same way without the awful paint. Siege Springer would be a good place to (re) start.

Thanks, that's interesting. The only problem bring us that,if true, Hasbro didn't listen too the criticism about releasing multi-packs to Jack-up the price of the only figure most people wanted in those packs.

As someone who actually owns several of those figures - as opposed to acting like the battle damage eclipsed the plastic colors and avoiding them - and has had them in hand, even having Springer on display, I can confidently say the battle-damage paint, while dorky, is easily-tuned-out light speckling.

Kingdom Galvatron's is even less than that, being just a few scuff marks, and actually has a bit of thought to it instead of being mere airbrush spatter. I only passed on him because I already had the TR version and I dislike the compromises on that one less (especially since it's still a triple-changer).
They release multipacks because multipacks are outside the normal slots and thus can get figures out without tying up a normal slot, and in the case of what we've seen in Buzzworthy it gives them an opportunity for things that might not have gotten a shot otherwise. They're also popular with parents since they're almost always less than the figures would cost individually and are good for giving a kid a lot of figures in one shot. Yes, it's a bit annoying when you only want one thing in a value pack, but that's been a fact of toy collecting FOR DECADES.primalxconvoy wrote:Thanks, that's interesting. Seriously! Why do I have to get some boring helicopter guy to complete my fossilizer collection?
JK, I don't actually mind multipacks. I get why they're frustrating for some, for example, it really bothers me that Skelivore is only available in that Megatron spoiler thing. But they're aren't going anywhere anytime soon, as they're very convenient for both Hasbro and parents looking for a great birthday gift. They're occasionally even convenient for adult fans, like the many seeker multipacks and the Prowl and Ironhide thing. OR well, they would be if they weren't exclusives.

Siege Megatron with Fossilizer wouldn't bother me except for it being the second time that same mold was used in a multipack. On the plus side, it's my favorite version of that design and the only one I plan to hold onto, since Earthrise Megatron is my default for the character.

Galvatron's cr@pple-damage isn't as bad as Springer's, but Springer DOES have a lot of it, looking at the many photos posted of it online. I thus cannot accept any statements to the contrary. Whether that is unacceptable for some is a matter of opinion. For me, it is, and this seems to be a valid opinion that's been noted by Hasbro, at least, regarding Galvatron's rerelease.
As for multi-packs, I cannot accept your opinions regarding this. As far as I can recall, inflating the price by bulking-up one figure with lesser figures has been more of a staple of Hasbro rather than Takara/in Japan (where I am). I don't accept it's a "normal part of TF collecting".

Dunno about the pricing mentality in your neck of the wood, but at least in Canada and USA, the multipacks sell or CHEAPER or EQUAL to buying figures individually. It's also a strategy for repaints and reissues. The only true beef to have is if those packs become ludicrously rare and get scalped to no end like for the Earthrise ones.

I went ahead and triple-dipped on "Kingdom" Galvatron, and I must say, third time's the charm. He looks great in a nice, clean deco, the cannon looks better without the opaque orange paint fade on the transparent plastic, and all of the joints feel nice and tight. It's objectively the best release yet. Now I've got another sub-par Galvatron to sell off in the future, but I believe it's worth it to invest in what I certainly hope will be the ultimate Generations release of Galvatron for quite some time with this Legacy refresh.
By the way, is anyone else having trouble getting the roof of Legacy Skids to tab together properly in vehicle mode? I'm afraid to use too much force and crack all of that transparent plastic.

Got lucky and picked up Legacy Arcee today. Gotta say, she's... Certainly something. Everytime I start enjoying the figure, something happens and sets my enjoyment back a tiny bit. Like the front end came off a bit easily, but then when I reattached it, it fit snuggly. At which point the waist swivel was too tight and ended up popping the little hinge off. Got that reattached easily, and started posing and found out she doesn't have a forward toe bend.
The figure itself is vey nice and satisfying to me to mess with, however there are handful of small issues that I managed to fix, but overall I think she's a neat enough figure. Maybe a touch too clever for her own good, but still a nice figure

At first, but I found it a lot easier if the first step I did was lift the front of the car and then connect the windshield. Looking at the instructions it doesn't show at any point the windshield being clicked in place like they show the back of the roof and doors. At step 6 it isn't connected, but at step 11 it is. You definitely don't want to do the windshield at the same time as the rear roof, it isn't going to happen.

After watching some reviews, I decided to go over to Target on my lunch break and picked up Bulkhead and Silverstreak. I was at first a bit iffy about this line, but a lot of the figures are looking cool. Having these two in hand, especially Bulkhead since he's a new mold, he is pretty awesome. I'll play around with then more tonight. I think I'll pick up most of the new figures when they're available.
I agree Galvatron looks great and I'll certainly look to pick him up since his Kingdom figure never showed up in my area. I did get the Selects version, but I'd like to have him in his normal colors too.
As far as battle damage goes, yeah it had no business being on the first Galvatron figure. I do however like the battle damage on the Siege figures. It was something different and fit the theme of the line. My only gripe would be that they should have been more consistant with it. Some figures have a lot of it, while some have very little (or not at all in the case of Refraktor). Then in some cases, the Netflix figures made them look better (Megatron, Scrapface, Army Drone). Just my opinion, of course.

I think battle damage would have been better on the bayverse SS figures, rather than the flat planed designs of Siege.
Anyway, Galvatron II is rather spiffing. I added some minor detaining to make it look more than the Marvel Comics' "Target 2006" version.
I also added some paint to remove the cr@pple-damage from Ironhide.

Obviously take with a grain of salt; neither of these may be legit.
Menasor teaser??

Alternative head for Legacy Blaster??

Just checked my own copy that I picked up yesterday (which is still sealed), and it has the same head/face as the Kingdom version.
I will say, looking right above his right eye (left in the photo), it looks photoshopped... The bottom of the "helmet" just above the eye looks "pushed" upward.
So I'm calling b.s. on this one.
The Menasor "teaser" looks like it could be legit, but I'm also very skeptical of that image too.
Where you can see wheels closer to the knees, and where you see a wheel on each forearm doesn't seem quite right to me.

The alternate Blaster head might be for SG Blaster, as it looks too devious for normal Blaster or Twincast, and SG Blaster was depicted as a cruel bully-type in the IDW SG comic.
Here are the full-sized photos of the two heads:

Arcee is a really fun figure! As a diehard Prime fan, I must admit I was a tad disappointed at the G1-ification of her design, but it still works. Although she is an obvious Road Rocket pretool, Arcee is still a fun figure to mess with and pose. I prefer her with the split-wheel backpack, though both setups are entertaining. The transformation is a work of genius, and the dirt bike mode looks great! (Shame I can't get it to peg together.) Overall, a surprisingly good purchase!

A total Prime fanatic with a Beast Wars username. I know, it doesn’t make sense to me either.

New Comparison Shots to Give You a Sense of Legacy Blitzwing's Scale
- Motto: "'till All Are One"
Chefatron also got their hands on the leader class Legacy Blitzwing toy. In their review, we have a whole ton of comparisons. You see Blitzwing compared to every major version of that character since Animated. This definitely helps those who wonder if the Titans return version truly is good enough for their collection. We have comparisons to all modes and shots of the tank show further confirm that there is no mistransformation, that phalic purple shape emerging from the front of the tank is there by design (and to be more G1 accurate).
We also have shots of this Blitzwing with his fellow Decepticon triple changers, giving you an idea of how he scales with them. There is also a clever shot of him next to two other recent leader class releases, with everything they come with, for you to determine the value for yourself. And of course, we have a shot with Megatron so that you can see how that scaling works.
Let us know if any of these images change your mind.

And the winner is... Titans Return!!!
Though, I'd still like to see comparisons with the Legends deco, too.
Also, every Voyager in those pics is bigger in robot mode than both the Leaders Blitzwing and Astrotrain (while Galvatron is the only big Leader). Was not expecting that.
