@Jelze as Kanra said, I think it was a case of the as-animation-accurate-as-possible style being transplanted to the other franchises instead of them being G1-ified. As discussed before, it's some thing that you're milage may vary on.

They didn't geewunified the Beast Wars characters. The Unicron Trilogy characters won't be geewunified but the Prime characters get bastardized as merely pretools. They shouldn't have bothered with Prime and go straight to who these basically brilliant molds should be from the very start.

...um, so apparently Hasbro Pulse is doing a Pulse Premium-only livestream in 4 days with more reveals, maybe the missing Wave 1 Legacy guys and/or Kingdom Wave 5 will be there?

Dollars to donuts something Legacy (or maybe Kingdom) will be there.

Also, a technicality to be sure, but they already did G1 version of Cybertron Defence Hot Shot in Siege. So, there's a precedent for g1 versions of UT stuff. Evidence against this I'd currently only the images of Cybertron Metroplex which where just drawings.

I'd say Robots in Disguise 2001 has it worse: only Side Burn, Scourge and Ruination got updated, the latter by TakaraTomy, not Hasbro.

No such animal. Both of the figures you're complaining about have other characters slated to repainted/retooled.

Its about who comes first. I thin the backlash wouldn't be as big if the charscters primarily intended for these molds came out first. Because right now it seems these are the intended ones rather than your typical opportunistic redecos with new heads.

But seriously, what's the point in preordering regulars things that will only come out in freaking NINE MONTHS?

I keep looking at Laser Prime. It doesn't look like his shoulders move. None of the pics have more than his arms out to the side up. Makes me think they are on a transformation hinge.

If that's true, instant pass.

Arcee. What kills it for me is the wheels on the legs. Clunky.

That's not entirely true. For whatever reason they decided one beast wars character needed a more geewunnified head, that being rhinox. Why every one else got amazing toon accurate heads and poor rhinox just got an updated thrilling 30 headsculpt is anyone's guess.

The problem with the prime legacy figures is that the molds just do not fit the characters. I don't think they are bad molds at all. I just think whoever they were designed to be repainted into will wear the molds better. Well, unless arcee's mold mate is animated prowl. That would be terri-bad.

You never know how the distribution will be.If there any toy you are sure you don't have hunt it down later,it's better to preorder.

I have been wondering this since Thrilling 30 Rhinox as well.

I was never able to find any proof (I did try looking for the actual posts from almost 10 years ago, but couldn't find them) but I remember on some boards, somewhere, when t30 rhinox came out, there being some derogatory, borderline racist comments being made about his cartoon face's design, maybe hasbro just wants to avoid all of that

I don't think there is anything worng with his head(both the cartoon and the toys)
Rhinox stands out because the other toys have less artistic license taken with their design.

It's true that Rhinox is the odd one out, but it's because they based his Kingdom toy on his Earth Wars design, which itself was a stylization the design of his Thrilling 30 toy.

I know I'm a bit late to the party but I here I go. Laser Prime, Dragstrip, and Kickback look great. Arcee looks okay definitely better than one I first saw her. Skids and Bulkhead still look god to me. But man are Skids' legs really hollow. I'm definitely going in on Legacy.

If I were to also guess, Prime was an entering point for a some fans (it brought me back into a franchise I hadn't had a real passion for since 2007, when I first became a fan). Prime
is beloved by many fans, and seeing some fan favorite characters done dirty like this rubs some the wrong way.
And I'm saying this as someone who likes the molds! I can't wait to find either of these and get them, but I can't say that I'm 100 percent happy with how these turned out.

I think Hasbro is just hedging their bets. Considering the supply chaos caused mainly by the inept current US federal government, they're just playing it safe in case it actually takes that long to get all their product from factory to store shelves/warehouses.
