Same, I was just trying to set expectations for anyone who, for whatever reason, truly believed this was prime Soundwave.

Just a few thoughts:

If Blaster is a new mold, then it's even more unlikely that "PR Soundwave" is as well.

I know there are probably plans for retools already established, and I think to a point Hastak can give almost anyone the SG treatment...
But it seems like there are a decent number of one-off molds currently and with what's coming out.
Or at least enough to where they will have to shell-out some repaints/retools before we get too many more unique, one-off molds.
I had this same thought as I sunk-down after hearing we're only getting 1 Dinobot this next year.
When you think about figures like the Ark, Grimlock, Slag, and now Sludge, and Motormaster who are all unique and most likely one-off's.
Of course I don't know the "formula", but it does make sense that they're not going to give us Snarl or Swoop (or possibly a Prime Soundwave) until they start releasing some repacks as well as getting some more returns from figures such as the Galvatron variants, BZ, Shattered Glass figures, and retools/variants of SS86 figures.

I am very anxious to see Core class Rumble. I don't see that being a repainted Siege mold with extras.

The other thing is that I thought a package refresh should be a straight repack, which wouldn't make sense for Netflix Soundwave, since he included the tapes. I'm not aware of PRs where the package contents differ, so I could be wrong.

This is all speculation on my part, so feel free to dismiss it. I agree keeping expectations low, but I think there's probably more demand for Netflix Soundwave, so maybe that's misleading.

I think you might be overthinking it on the getting returns aspect, but are close to the likely reason they especially are in SS86 instead of generations WFC/Legacy.

Titans and Commanders have always factored into having low re-use/repaint potential, so I would say they have relatively nothing to do with the who get a leader class figure or the other classes.

Traditionally Generations even going back to Prime Wars has always had at least a second use of a Leader mold. Studio Series on the other hand was more the opposite, rarely was a Leader mold re-used. Studio Series also gets fewer leader slots/waves per year overall as compared to generations.

I think we are looking more at the economics of each line. SS is built around not having to re-use a Leader mold. It wouldn't surprise me if the major reason SS86 exists is just to be able to fit the dinobots into the economics of a line as leaders with limited redeco potential.

As for the wait, well they can't completely take over studio series with SS86. Studio Series only gets 3 leader molds per year and coronation Starscream is taking one of those up along with Sludge. The design team did right by at least giving movie fans the Fallen, pushing back any possibility of the last two dinobots for 2023.

Ive been hearing rumors, just rumors, that Swoop might end up as a Voyager in SS86 so me may have him in 2022, though I may prefer to wait for a Leader in 2023.

That & the fact that his appearance in the movie almost seemed like a fluke, so if only one of them gets that SS86 slot, it really should be Swoop. I just seriously hope he gets a leader slot.

I wouldn't put nay faith in that rumor for 2022 even as a Voyager (2023 is definitely possible), since we already have all the EAN coeds for the regular releases and he isn't there. The only possibility for 2022 would be as an exclusive (a few of those are unknown at this point), and I highly doubt they would go that route for Swoop.

The only way that would work is if it was a Starscream/Coronation Starscream situation, which doesn't make sense for Swoop. It will be one or the other and only time will tell.

I wouldn't hate if Swoop was voyager...the wings would give him the size he needs in dino mode to fit scale-wise with the other dinos. And as long as he's not super-short in bot mode, it may be ok if he's more...delicate?

Also, EB...I mean Gamestop has a lot of the Pulsecon figures up for order now, if anyone in Canada is interested. Covert Ravage was listed as Rampage for a few hours, so he was a little tricky to find, but all corrected now.

Finally catching up on the reveals from last weekend.

Skids: still doesn't really look that good to me, pretty flimsy looking, and not overly nicely colored.

Dragstrip: the cartoon look just isn't my thing, so I feel that will influence all of my opinions. He just doesn't do anything for me. And since it seems like he will do the 3P combiner thing for Menasor, I don't really feel an interest in going in on that combiner.

Kickback: I like the wings, I will say that. But my FOC deluxe will still be good. I hope the other 2 are still good, so Kickback can finally have his team.

Arcee: she's...OK? I can see what they were going for, but it just doesn't quite work out. The wheels being on the outside of the legs is a bit annoying, as is the proportions. I like her, but she definitely doesn't seem to be a good update.

Bulkhead: it's grown on me some, but still, it is not right to me. I think I will still be passing on him.

Laser Prime: he looks pretty nice, even with using the WFC lower torso again. I will pass on this one, but I look forward to the Scourge to come. With him, I will only need UW Baldigus to complete my RiD2001 preds/cons.

Interested to see what, if any, additional reveals will be coming tomorrow. I am curious to see Core Iguanus.

Based on a description from one of the usual leakers, it looks like Menasor is going to be like X-Transbots' take, with Motormaster being only the cab (I'm happy with this), and Menasor's skeleton being just the trailer (undecided on this). Hoping that there's a couple ways of handling how the deluxes attach for different looks, but so far I'm okay with how it's been described and I'm also hoping that there's some toy accurate design elements like details for Breakdown and Dead End's undersides, and maybe an optional chest transformation for a toon chest or toy chest, but not gonna complain. Only thing I can see that'll upset people (aside from the trailer skeleton and the cars just clipping on) is that Motormaster likely has faux parts for his feet

Hopefully motormaster will have his base mode and ability to link to other bases plus a spring launch gimmick for the cars in base mode like the G1 toy felt it should have had. Whilst they are charging commander price it might as well include the oversized guns that came with the G1 stunticons for vehicle modes.

The leaker did confirm that when Motormaster's in Robot mode/the cab is separated the trailer can turn into a base mode/turret emplacement

I have a feeling the spring loaded mechanism is out though

That's actually how I'd describe this new Dragstrip.
I don't necessarily like the extra bulk on top of his shoulders, but he looks decently filled-out with only a little bit of hollow/gap-ness. I will also say that I have had high expectations of great head sculpts ever since CW (especially with the Constructicons), and Dragstrip's is a little bit of a letdown.
But overall he looks good. I definitely appreciate how good the alt mode looks.

I could still see a lot of people not loving either Motormaster or Menasor, but I believe they'll both be better than the CW versions (which I get-- to some isn't saying much).
I'd also say there's a little pressure on Hastak right off the bat to make these versions better.
Then throw on top of that the Commander Class pricing... Again, I think they're going to deliver.

I'm going to be more than okay if Menasor doesn't look like he fits perfectly with CW/UW.
My one fear is that he's going to be smaller than I'd like. And I really hope that the hands and feet are decent. I know some 3P will do some sort of add-on's... But it would be nice if the original figure/parts were good enough as is.
