You know Jak, it's funny. During the whole past convo about what is/might be coming next I wanted to chime in and say, I'm just waiting for the Diarepaint of Streaker, and also hoping for the toy inspired Megatron, but I didn't bother because I knew the convo was more about new molds.
To me they WILL be new molds because I don't have either. Because I waited, and it paid off.

So to answer your question, I'm happy as pie! :lol:

I'm at peace with the super toon accy direction if the keep rehashes like Cordon and the Megatron coming too.

I think some will still remain disappointed that so far in 2018, there has not been any new moulds for G1 characters, aside from that one lion cassette.

Though, BW Megs makes me very happy, and the 3rd party market looks to pick it up on the second half of the year.

So Densh, were you upset just about the lack of new molds for 2018, or were you worried about the future of line? Because for the latter, I think we can now safely say (original molds or not) there's plenty coming out in 2018 now and line is clearly alive and well.

I'm content that the Masterpiece releases have slowed down a little bit. It gives a little more breathing room for our wallets. Some other recent changes, like the "unification of the brand" between Hasbro and Takara, while initially very troubling, have also been a boon financially. I don't have to pay higher prices for Takara versions if they're no different from the Hasbro versions now. Similarly, I'm hoping a lot of what's going to be available for the upcoming "War for Cybertron" trilogy of toys will be very different from the "Classics" style we've been getting for the past 12 years or so. I'd kind of like there to be a reason to only pick and choose some choice toys from those lines to fill in my "neo G1" collections, like the fan pick "Impactor." That would be useful to me where something like a Cybertronian Mirage is kinda "meh." With funds freed up from a slower Masterpiece release schedule and a "hiatus" for Classics/Universe 2.0/Generations figures as we know them, I can devote more funds towards the Studio Series and building back up my movie collection.

Could be, we have Tokyo Toy Show coming in a month from now which is probably our best hope for something new before the end of the year (probably Optimus Prime 3.0) though we might see something new for early 2019 at Wonder Festival 2018 Summer in late July/early August (they haven't given a date yet).

BTW, do we know if the Megatron repaint actually come with the stock and silencer? I only ask because the picture seemed to focus more on the base gun rather than the complete gun and he has had a few Japanese releases without those parts.

As this is the general MP thread, I was thinking the other day about Army Builders. Although the Seekers both do (technically) and don't at the same time, count as Army builders. How do you foresee them being handled? Gnaw, Sweeps, Insecticons etc they are still within the realm of possibility as far as MP upgrades go. Depending on how they approach it, Scourge and the Sweeps for example, could end up being really expensive just for a default four (if sold solo).

I doubt any of them will be sold in "bundles". And since their direction is hardcore cartoon accuracy, I doubt we'll see an MP "Sweep" and they were identical to Scourge himself.

The only thing I could see (if anything) is:
-MP Insecticons made and sold separately.
-Then possibly released in one box of 3 in Diaclone colors, as demand will be lower.

Agreed. I'm thinking Scourge might possibly get a few extra faces and that's it. Gnaw/Sharticons will be really pushing it price-wise being sold separately. Considering they are smaller than Bumblebee, much like Wheelie. I mean so far we've kind of had two(ish) price points, the Car Bots and Leader Class, with others falling in-between. Wheelie and most of the Army Builders mentioned, are tiny in comparison to the others in the series so would we be looking at a third, lower price tier for those?

MP Insecticons would be potentially bittersweet too. Given I doubt the Deluxe Insecticons would ever be making the leap to MP alongside Bombshell and co, as they only really exist via the toys.

So I was watching a "retro" review of a couple Pretenders on YouTube and it got me thinking. I've never liked the Pretender toys, a bad 80's brick action figure with a half-baked Transformer inside. However then I got thinking about the MP line and what such an upgrade would mean for a Pretender?

A Marvel Legends level action figure (in terms of articulation etc) with a Masterpiece TF skillfully built in. That, I would be interested in seeing.

Does it seem possible that Hasbro will ever put out a Masterpiece Skywarp (with the seeker 2.0 mold)? I need him to go with Starscream and Thundercracker and I know the moment I bite the bullet on the Takara one, Hasbro will release him at a cheaper price.

I was just thinking about this the other day. I felt it was always a possibility, until TRU imploded.

In fact, I wonder what the future holds for Hasbro released MPs with TRU out of the picture.

We already have an answer, it will be web exclusives. Both MPM Ironhide and MP Prowl are still due this year and we can already preorder Hasbro MP Prowl at BBTS while MPM Ironhide will be at Hasbro toy shop.
