However, with a Monday opening, would all this be counted as opening weekend gross? I know they can get away by opening a day or two early, but this is nearly a full weak.
I'd like to see how it turns out, plus I know I have alot of groups of friends that each want to see it again with me as a walk through, and believe me when I tell you before this film they couldn't care less about TFs, but this film has alot of people from all walks excited, and thats a great thing!
Weekend gross only includes what was earned on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The days before will become part of it's cumulative gross for the opening week.

I am stupid and very sorry..a poster pointed out that the numbers i had could not be right.. well i checked it again and looked at the program and found out he is right, i didn't realize you devided the number by location so the number was totaly off, thats my fault for not knowing the program well enough.. i am sorry.. as of right now through 9pm it is at 17,142,608 through the 9pm shows, but some of the ones havn't come in yet from the west coast.. so it will probubly hit 18,000,000...
i am sorry again for the wrong numbers will post the accurate ones from now on.

C'mon TransFormers, knock Spider-Man 3 out of #1, the movie was horrible to even be in the Top 5 Box Office Records.

Most excellent. Nice having someone with a direct link to the figures instead of having to wait for Yahoo to give their rounded numbers.

38 mil? Not bad for a Monday and Tuesday....or is that Tuesday/Wednesday? Can't be. Wednesday isn't over... ?
I'm confused.
Either way, 38 mil for 1 and a half days isn't bad, still, I'd hoped this movie would be tops for the year. It's certainly ambitious enough, and IMO good enough.

maybe so , maybe not, we will see, it will make it's money back and then some by the end of the weekend and that will be enough to defintly show the staying power of transformers, but i don't see harry potter taking that much buisness away, maybe some next weekend but not alot then the next week, transformers will pick up.. harry potter was good but it wasn't that good..

Hot_Rod wrote:My feeling on this is that is a typical fan reaction. Our fan base has a long hystery at getting all excited with knee jerk reaction the instant something new comes out or is announced. This is no different, and with as large of a fan base that Transformers has, I expected the totals to do well the first several days.
But once the exitment and the new "smell" (for lack of a better metaphor) wears off and people settle down, I'm willing to predict one of the biggest drop off's we've ever seen at the theatre. Especially with Harry Potter being so popular and comming out Wednesday.
The bottom line is once the newness wears off, so will the excitment and people will start to reflect more clearly on what it is.
Geezz!!! Arent we just a big ol' party pooper. Give us all a moment to enjoy this before the predictions of crash and burn.
Happy faces today, no sour pusses.

Do I expect it to make more than Spider-Man? No.
Do I expect it to make more than it was originally thought? Oh yes.
This is a classic example of a summer, fun blockbuster.
This is why it works and will make back what it cost and then some.
I watched one Harry Potter movie, deepness and whatnot, and it friggin' bored me 'til I fell asleep. I tried another one and couldn't even make it past the first 30 minutes, I fell asleep.
Deep's great and all, but sometimes it just isn't necessary. Can't people just have fun for once? Damn.

i am a huge lord of the rings fan - and loved id4.. and i really like harry potter and think they are good movies, but they are kinda boring and once u seen them a time or two, unless someone you are dating or friends with has not seen it, they usualy dont' watch them again. i love long movies, king arthur, kingdom of heaven, etc.. but most of those were action and good to watch over and over again.. though it is only 2 hours and 20 minutes and i thought it was good for the fifth movie.
Transformers will have staying power... There is nothign wrong with not having to think deep to watch a movie and just sit back and enjoy the show..
thats what movies are for... i still think it is going to come close to spiderman or pirates if not beating one of them.. maybe i am a optimist.. ohh welll.....
