Or maybe the design team thinks that one 1988 six-changer who was never in anything ever is more popular than a prominent villain in their multi-universal mythology, a recent cartoon and a live-action movie that made them a heckton of money. Seems rational to me.

I do still think deluxe class is too small for them. They should bump them all up one class, so that would make Grimlock a leader and the rest voyagers. In my opinion that would make more sense and they will look better next to the other figures.
Eh, they can't scale everything up bro.
I was very surprised we even got Combiner Wars with deluxe limbs.

Or it can be a "sh*t ! who let this design for next year in the slide ? let's pretend we abandonned it".

I'm not complaining about the characters we are getting. I have been quite happy with the inclusion of the female autobots in the toys and the current series (RiD and IDW), especially since it helps my daughter maintain interest in transformers. Oddly though, her favorite figure is Gnaw. We have put together a decent sized Gnaw army (the Gnawrmy as we say).
The thing I am a bit shocked by is that there were a ton of repaint/retool possibilities in TR that would have made sense, and hasbro chose not to overload us this time.

No.
Don't give me that hope.

There is that, but I think voyager and up figures are some of the best in the line.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Graviton wrote:Fun PotP will carry the "Collector prices" of the Premier Edition toys
Just for Voyager and up.
Kurona wrote:Only for Voyager. The Leaders are the same price as before; I'm pretty sure in TLK they were something ridiculous like 60.
Yep, as do they share upper arms, lower legs (now that's a significantly large part!) and probably some other parts as well. What I appreciate though is that their transformation scheme is different between the two; it's not just a reshell (preshell?) of a pre-existing transformation skeleton, there are obviously a few twists and turns that are different between the two - notably, their torsos face opposite directions in their dino modes. If CW started the trend of pre-planned mold uses, and TR got the hang of shared parts, it looks like PoTP is heading toward a full-blown mastery of creative retooling, reshelling and everything else in the general vicinity!JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:I see Sludge and Slug share upper legs and hips as well. It's official: under CW rules, they're pretools

We'll have to wait and see which gets released, one or both with the other as a running change. I will say that the blue will stick out in combined mode.

John Warden confirmed that the blue chested Swoop is the correct one. At the Friday panel, they withheld showing Swoop's stock render for reasons that weren't disclosed at the panel, and encouraged people to go see his toy in the display after the panel. That the stock render had a red chest suggests that they didn't want to give people the wrong impression about the toy since the render had the "wrong" chest color, and also suggests that the decision to go with a blue chest for Swoop was one made too late in the game for the stock render to be changed before HasCon.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:the_neptrix wrote:They've alternated blue and red chest Swoop, what, five times now? All that would be cool, but I'm not expecting it.Seibertron wrote:Anyone else hoping to see figures like Thunderwing, Crossblades, etc done in this Leader Class style? I'd also be game for an Armada Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus, but definitely open to some out of the box ideas as well before this concept expires.
