Wouldn't make that much sense to retool those just panels. Besides, the leaks were of such quality that distortions when enlarged could easily occur, then there's Hasbro's penchant for mistransforming.
I'm late to the fun because there were a lot of posts over the weekend. Just wanted to point out that going through all of these posts nobody pointed out that of course Inferno is a retool, he has to be one to incorporate a Prime Master, or in this case the blue Enigma at the end of the ladder.

Also note that anything outside of the first two waves may have placeholder images, that goes especially for the Prime Master and Legends Classes. Photoshops, images of the G1 versions, you name it.

Emerje wrote:That may be a clearer picture, but that doesn't mean it's a newer version of the figure in it. Valcanicus, Emperor Starscream, Elita-1, and Abominus all have spots in their chest to stick an Enigma that comes with the Voyager torso, there's little chance that Inferno won't be retooled to do the same in torso mode.

Especially the fiddly generations figures who, though adequate updates, were perhaps too intricate for their own good especially at the size they were. Makes me hope for more updates of certain figures that didn't turn out as well as I had hoped.
Inferno and grapple were 2 of these. And am disappointed by this new inferno as it's just as a repaint of a mould I already have 2 versions of, and would've liked the current crop of designers to come up with a new take... I mean there seems to have been a shift in the approach to generations figures - whereas before they tried to update the designs including the vehicle and homaging the character some way, now they're looking more at the original toys and seeing how to update them..
I personally love this approach and I would've liked them to use it with inferno. Kinda like how CW Ultra Magnus seemed to borrow a fair bit from the MP edition to produce a great version of the character and the original toy..

That was confirmed by hasbro in an interview. All mainline deluxes and voyagers are combining.
Even Darkwing and Dreadwind in spite of doing the combining with each others? Does that make them triple-combiners? Not sure what to call a toy designed to combine in two different ways.
Yes, even Dreadwind and Darkwing, I believe. They do both come with the crappy new combiner hand. I mean armor.
Actually, that gives me a few slightly different thoughts. I'm guessing the Darkwing/Dreadwind Combo uses the combiner peg from one of them, meaning the other has both a peg and a port. I'm wondering if you can fanmode both of them into a funky misshapen arm or leg.
Also, for the one with both a peg and a port, can they combine with any of the other figures, say maybe the arielbot jets?
TF-fan kev777 wrote:Hey everyone, I just noticed a few things on Hun-Gurr that are actual differences in the mold from Silverbolt.
Disclaimer: I am not interested in arguing the semantics of retool/shared engineering/who's you design daddy, so if I say retool, it is simply due to laziness (only 6 letters).
It seems like there are a few distinct differences that are all somewhat related, so in no particular order.
1. Look at Hun-Gurr's robot legs. It looks like he has ankle tilts, which is an improvement over Silverbolt.
2. Again at the legs, look at the sides, no combiner torso panels like on Silverbolt, instead it looks like the combiner torso has a different panel or set of panels that covers the area where the combiner head comes out. In fact, it looks like a single panel to me without a split down the middle like on Silverbolt, and the itty-bitty beast front legs on the sides of the combiner chest.
3. Hun-Gurr's torso orientation. It looks like his torso is oriented 180 degrees from Silverbolt. On Silverbolt, both the robot chest and combiner chest end up on what is the undercarriage of the jet mode. For Hun-Gurr, the combiner torso looks like it is on the undercarriage of the beast mode, but Hun-Gurr's chest is the back (top) of the beast mode.
So, even though Hun-Gurr is a retool (or insert your favorite term here), there is a bit more going on that your standard retool for aesthetic purposes. This was an insta-buy for me no matter what, but I'm digging it more the more I look at it. I forget, is he wave 2 or 3? Man it is going to be a long wait no matter what.

I'd... not even considered that, actually. I totally figured they would use the 5mm hole used for the hands/feet and stick a peg on the rear jet, with the wings locking them together a bit.
Using the combiner pegs would actually be really smart, and allow for some fun fan-transformation nonsense. You could probably figure some kind of standing gun turret from an arm-on-a-leg, perhaps?

Also we had a really nice thing going with the IDW designs, that Ulta Magnus looks like it junped out of the page. But now it's all G1 with elbows. That's ok with figures with good altmodes like Triggerhappy, but figures like the Fastclash autobot clone are trash because of it.
I don't mean to argue, but I can't agree with you 100%.

That has me thinking: what if he came with a separate piece that has his Enigma, which connects to his chest in Combined mode?

Man, I wouldn't be surprised to see re-issues of T30 Gears and Swerve either...
But those wouldnt work with their ecosystem.
For TR, the Legends Class was never labelled as part of the ecosystem. It went, TM, deluxe, voyager and Leader. So they could add TM integration or not. Plus they had some that worked with the tapedecks and others that didnt.
But for POTP, its 100% part of it, so a rerelease of older toys who cant interact with the gimick has less chances of happening.

Maybe they could do that for "season 2" of Power of the Primes? It would be a huge missed opportunity NOT to do one of the more memorable "evolutions" in the Decepticons: Megatron into Galvatron. We do need at least a few bad guys in the Leader Class too, more than just "corrupted Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime." They invented a "Matrix of Chaos" to explain Hot Rod's corruption into Rodimus Unicronus, so why not do the same for Megatron? Maybe Megatron could be Unicron's second choice of herald once Rodimus is (almost certainly) ultimately restored to normal?

Honestly, I'm banking on a new Chromia. I HONESTLY think that Power of The Primes will leak into 2019, and I think that Chromia will be a deluxe-combiner in one of the later waves.Wolfman Jake wrote:bodrock wrote:And hey, I know he ain't a Prime, but it would've been cool to see a Megatron to Galvatron PotP Leader-class figure!

Exactly, man. I don't feel as confident about getting this as I do about getting the Chromia. The ONLY thing that gives me ANY confidence that this MIGHT happen at the tail-end of PotP is that it's absolutely NO secret that Titans Return Galvatron was not received well.
william-james88 wrote:megatronus wrote:On a side note -
Did anyone else notice that Starscream's torso mode somewhat resembles his Bayhem movie body? Not sure if that's an intention nod.
We wont know till we ask, but we know its happened in the past. Like how Prime starscream intentionally has Movie starscream's face across his chest.

Because since we now know for sure they're willing to redeco and even re-issue previous line toys in POTP, I feel it's certainly possible we'd get Eject.
... and the, uh, blue Soundwave cassette. I forgot his name, can someone tell me?
