I find myself doing this way too often the last two years. Will it be a Hasbro exclusive or significantly different? I've guessed right on topspin and krok so far. PMOP was significantly different so I don't feel bad about that. But the early part of TR and CW, it didn't matter a whole lot which one you chose.

That was my plan all along, no worries though, if these hit store shelves by end of year, (probably wont hit my area until a month or so later...) should reveal something by then hopefully, so for a completist like myself, I will know which limbs are unique to Hasbro by then so those will be the only ones I need to purchase at that time

True, but Cyclonus was never hard to find, at least in my area, he was a shelf warmer. Come to think of it, IIRC in my area ROSS had many of the CW Voyagers at clearance prices around holiday 2015. In retrospect, I think the only Voyagers that are considered *valuable* on the secondary market are Optimus Prime, Hotspot, and of course Sky Lynx. In fact I think we had this discussion before, the deluxe limbs seem to demand much higher prices than the Voyagers on the secondary market simply because Hasbro way overproduced. Hoepfully with PotP they will have learned. I know there is a delicate balance between anticipating who wants the Voyagers as stand alone characters, and who wants them to complete their combiners, but I think It's safe to say Hasbro can produce less this time around.

I'll admit I almost purchased a CW Cyclonus, except the lack of Dedicated extra deluxes at the time made me hold off. But for anyone who did get CW Cyclonus they should not feel bad. Sure its an extra Torso, but its a great figure in its own right. I love my UW, Grand Galvatron, but for just a Cyclonus figure, The Hasbro version serves quite well.

Mirage is part of the same team as BattleCore Optimus, Sunstreaker, Prowl and Ironhide .

Yes it's not a G1-themed-named team, but it's an official team, which forms Optimus Maximus, Hasbro communicated on it and such.

Contrary to Dreadwing and starscream, who - FOR THE MOMENT - do not seems to belong to a dedicated team, to hte point that Starscream box art shows him with an abominus limb.

And now for my actual thoughts on the reveals:

Decoy suits: Could not be happier at all. I will buy every single one. No questions.
Legends: Slash is great and will go good with Beachcomber. So far, I am pleased. And as Cobotron said: DINORIDERS!!!
Deluxe: the dinobots look great. I am stoked for those 4. All the deluxes in fact look pretty sweet. No complaints at all with them.
Voyager: Starscream still gets on me a bit since he sacrificed some potential transformation stuff to become a torso and at this point nothing indicates the other 2 84 jets finally getting the voyager treatment either. Hun-Gurr sort of disappoints me some. He looks incredibly basic, and while it's not like he had to transform much to begin with, he feels a bit dull in bot to beast mode. I will get him for Abominus, but I feel a bit bored by him.
Leaders: I think Optimus is my favorite so far. His Prime robot mode is absolutely great, Orion looks awesome, and the alt mode is good too. He will be my PotP version of Optimus and most likely my definitive G1 Prime.
Rodimus still looks great, but I think Optimus beats him. Still a buy.
Primal... I am so torn with this figure at the moment. More judgement shall not be passed until we see him in hand and painted, but he was not what I was expecting at all. Optimal mode looks pretty good, and I love that they are including the hoverboard thing. But the deluxe... why wouldn't they have made a beast mode? His beast mode is basically a head flip, waist rotation, and some flaps to expose robot mode parts. They could have done the gorilla mode somehow and made him turn into a box. That is a disappointment. But I voted for him, and he still looks cool in the mode I would primarily display him in, so I am still in. Just not impressed with how they went about with him at this point

Myself I still want to see more "proper" Pretender updates, like ROTF Bludgeon- that is, "regular" TFs with the shells incorporated into their robot modes. These little Prime Masters are interesting, but I really don't want this to be their "definitive" updates.

Yeah, I meant "Dedicated team" to mean actual G1 combiner teams, but I didn't make that very clear. For my collection, I was only interested in actual G1 teams, so figures like Mirage and Prowl, not being actual G1 combiner team members, end up being extra guys not part of an actual team. I know Optimus Maximus is a real team per Hasbro and the 2016/2017 fiction, but it wasn't to me and my collection.
Not that I'm saying that the rules of my collection are the official rules of all. I know that people disagree. But that doesn't actually matter. I should have been clearer in my initial post. If you were into CW for the G1 teams, obviously ones that were established like the Stunticons, then figures like Mirage are basically extra limbs, and so if that pattern carries over into PotP, we would already have seen how it would work, because it has happened in CW already. Plus, using your Dreadwing/Starscream example, we already have extra torsos, because both Cyclonus and retail Scattershots' bios basically say they combine with whoever is sitting around, meaning they don't have dedicated limb members.

Someone remind me again of the timeline. Is POTP wave 1 scheduled for q1 2018, with some retailers possibly getting stock later this year? I think something similar happened for TR if memory serves me correctly.

They're using the same peg and slot system as CW, so I'd imagine they're cross-compatible.

That is correct, *most* US retailers started getting TR mid-summer of 2016, some earlier. I know Hasbro is branding these as one year lines, but they are really more like 18 month lines (CW Jan 15-Jun 16, TR Jul 16-Dec17, PotP Dec17-???)

Hopefully we are right about Jazz etc. being spare limbs because that would make this line a lot less predictable. Much as I loved CW and much as I love it getting a second go, I'm not gonna pretend like there isn't a huge flaw -- the Deluxes will end up very, very samey and simple even if not sharing the same mold; and due to being in teams will make them very predictable. I'm not saying this is a horrific thing that means this shouldn't have happened; of course not, because if we want these characters, it's hard to see how else it could be done -- it's a necessary evil. But it is a flaw nonetheless and it does serve to make things a little dull.

So throwing in things that aren't meant to be a part of any Combiner like Darkwing would be a very nice surprise to break up the monotony a bit

Well, I said I'm sticking to Masterpiece only...but some of those primes look awesome! Especially the Orion Pax ver!!

If they are for Hasbro that's fine, but hopefully will make use of them. There is an inferno Voyager coming, and with plenty more Deluxes to be revealed later, I would think 3 more Autobots would not be too much to ask to complete that team.Same for Starscream and 2 more Decepticons...but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

So with the way his riffle fits in the trailer, it looks like hitting the wrong pothole and Prime has just shot himself.

Which wouldn't be a bad thing to me... in the Hasbro side of things, Galvatronus needs 3 limbs anyway. Though I still may customize one of my Offroads into a Prime Breakdown (ala Grand Galvatron). Because I liked both Computron and Computicon so much I have both, so I have headcanoned both in (CW is Betatron, and UW is Computron, though I prefer the UW Technobots uncombined anyway). Could not pass up the different Lightspeed, Strafe, and Nosecone.

Come to think of it, I am not sure what one of my Primes limb bots is now... maybe a spare Smokescreen (headcanoned into Bluestreak for now, as I don't feel like repainting it myself just yet).

So, I am still 5 limbs short (sorry, I can't bring myself to cross factions). We just need 1 more spare Autobot (hopefully the Wreck-Gar rumor is true) and 1 spare Decepticon (maybe Hasbro will offer Shuttle Blast Off as an exclusive) and then we have the correct number of limb bots. I kinda like the idea of Starscream and Cyclonus interchanging limbs as Spare torsos.

Well, bring on the next set of reveals. NYTF is the next one right?

I'd guess NYCC would only have Predaking (as they have to have some reason for not showing him at Hascon -- I guess they figured they'd save him for the centerpiece of another show), and a few Deluxes/Prime Masters/Legends and maybe a Voyager if that. Maybe the remainder of Wave 1?
