Wolfman Jake wrote:Optimal Optimus looks great, honestly. I don't get why so many people are upset that the cockpit/matrix chamber is blue transparent plastic instead of orange. The orange is toy accurate, but the blue is screen accurate, so it isn't completely out of left field or out of place. Plus, the orange cockpit would look a little odd on the Optimus Primal figure. Blue matches his overall motif of black, white, red, and blue.
Autobot N wrote:It looks like that hinge (red circle on the image) is the only connecting point between Primal and his backpack. In theory, all you would have to do is knock out the pin (assuming that's what they've used), and you would be able to have them separate.Sabrblade wrote:...Poooooooooooosibly?Autobot N wrote:I just noticed something with this figure. If Primal's connection to Optimal works the way I think it does, wouldn't it be possible to remove Primal's backpack and connect it to Optimal, therefore having a backpack-less Primal (albeit without the ability to transform) and a complete Optimal at the same time?

If you listen to geewunners everything from 1986-onward is worse than things from 1984 and 85.
Skritz wrote:Oh, also: technically speaking this Optimal Optimus isn't 100% 'worse than the original' as it has the fold-away chest guns, something the original didn't have. It also has better proportions. So it's not like it is completely and utterly inferior.

Yeah, the guns attach to the chest after you slide the cockpit down a bit. When not attached to the chest, they rest on the sides of gorilla's legs like where the wheels on the original figure used to be.Hellscream9999 wrote:Skritz wrote:Oh, also: technically speaking this Optimal Optimus isn't 100% 'worse than the original' as it has the fold-away chest guns, something the original didn't have. The guns don't fold away, you have to plug them into various ports

Skritz wrote:Oh, well, maybe they don't fold away but they still look better than the original who had this gigantic protruding bloc off his back.

You do realize that all the modes of this new figure have the entire primal deluxe guy hanging off the back

Yes, but at least it's flush against the back! A small improvement but an improvement nonetheless!![]()

Skritz wrote:So what, am I being a bad 'Beastwunner' (I don't know how you call a Beast Wars purist!) because I'm okay with the new figure and think it has some positives just as much as it has negatives? I'm well aware that, whatever the character, the show or even continuity that no figure ever come close to meeting fan demands/expectations short of being a Masterpiece line figure.

What's different about the two in the first pair?D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Those are the same mode.D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Primal space log, Primal surfboard. As are these. One's just standing on something while the other isn't.D-Maximus_Prime wrote:Ape, ...surfing Ape
I still count it, but if we need to get picky, we can call them half modes, so Primal has 2.5 modes, and Optimal has 3+0.5+0.5 = 4, so 6.5 modes overall.
Still counts.
