Nope, can't do it. The trailer is not bad, but the Hot Rod component looks way too nice to be covered up under all that kibble. If the evolved mode was nicer, I would have bought 2 of them, to display each version. But the trailer being only average, it didn't justify paying $40 for the whole figure again. I will say the Leader does look better in black.King Kuuga wrote:You take that back!Rodimus Prime wrote:I decided that the evolved mode is the weakest mode for Rodimus in either form

This is verry true the Hot Rod robot and alt modes are the best modes of the figure, but it's still cool the he can become Rodimus Prime

I actually don't care for the Hot Rod robot or alt modes that much, and actually prefer the TR version for that. The transformation from bot to car for just the Hot Rod component is really just meh. And the car mode to me looks way too flat, like it got squished.

So judging by how well that went last time with shelf-warming Galvatrons, these Grimlock and Starscreams will be there for a damn long time.
Possibly these Leader Class figures too.

As I said, just my opinion. If you like them that high, great. At least the figure appeals to you and you got one. Personally, to me the perfect shoulder proportion on a non-MP Hot Rod is TFA Rodimus's shoulders, followed by the base PotP figure, then the Classics version, though that is a little high as well, but not exaggeratedly.Wolfman Jake wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:I like the TR figure as well, but the shoulders on it are too high. The high shoulders are so 80's, though! Hot Rod is padding those shoulders out and lookin' FIERCE!
You're thinking of "big shoulder pads". "High positioned shoulders" are an uncomfortable anatomically oddity, while "big shoulder pads" are a rockin' 80's staple that we can all dig and jam out to.Wolfman Jake wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:I like the TR figure as well, but the shoulders on it are too high. Would be nice if one of the 4 remaining PM's was based on him

Onyx might be. I'm still trying to figure out his detailing.
Like I said, that's alright. We like the figures for different reasons. The bottom line is you got one as well, driving up sales, and showing Hasbro that the character (and toys based on it/them) is in demand, which will only lead to more Hot Rod/Rodimus figures in the future, hopefully.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Rodimus Prime, going to have to strongly disagree with you about PotP Roddy. Sure, the Hot Rod component is okay-looking and avoids having an exposed engine block in robot mode. But the arm articulation is lacking compared to the TR version, he also avoids having a protruding engine block in car mode, he doesn't have anywhere to mount weapons in car mode, and the exhaust pipes on this part of him aren't as detailed.
I think the camper shell looks plenty fine, and I've always been a fan of the Rodebago mode. And the Rodimus Prime robot mode.. Mmm. Nicely proportioned and articulated, good detailing, lovely face sculpt, aesthetically solid (so, the antithesis of Titrod and Fansproject Protector). My only problems with him are that due to the evolution gimmick he doesn't have his base mode, and he towers over Galvatron. But that's not enough to overshadow the positives in his case, and I can think of him as "Powermaster Rodimus Prime" if I want.
Speaking of Powermasters, here are some photos I took of him with Titans Return Powermaster Optimus before I started on my project to rebuild that figure's cab into a poor man's PC-16.
