Crappy show?

Aside from the first two episodes and the Springload one this show is pretty good.

Better then most of Prime (aside from like 7 episodes mostly thinking of Smokescreen's debut episode)

Why do think its crappy?

(Edit just notice I've been promoted to Gestalt team leader huh)

Well me and u differ from what shows we think are good, cuz i personally loved TF Prime, i think it was the best TF show ever made.
What i dont like about RID is, it has abandoned the serious tone and become a pure kiddy show, i understand that it is made mostly for kids, but i hate what they did to grimlock, its sad! the animation isnt that good, and well anytime prime is dead or not the main guy the show just doesnt work, sure bee is kinda alright as a leader, but its just not doing it overall for me. I think it would have been awesome had the contuined prime for the older crowd, and had a show like RID for the kids. Why not appeal to both sides of the spectrum?
Hell most adults collect and buy their toys...........the kids in my family arent into TFs like when i was a kid in the 80s and 90s

thats my 2 cents...........and please dont take it as im dissing u, like most senstive tfs would, just stating why i dont like the show, glad u like it, enjoy it, just not for me

The main mistake was to make RiD the sequel to Prime. If RiD had a backstory that were just a wee bit different and if it was it's own thing, it would have been much better.

For what it si, I'm enjoying the show. It's not as good as Prime, for sure, but it's not Armada level either.

Intricate tampo's and cheap-looking plastic are the worst combination. You can't even mask them to give the plastic a nice coat of paint.

Well, TF's in general, really. A few months ago, I'd planned to actually get AOE Crosshairs and give him a nice metallic candy green paint job, but quickly realized I'll NEVER be able to properly mask the black racing pattern things on the sides of his alt mode, let along replicate it.

I respect that other collectors don't mind that their toys actually look like toys, but I like to make them look as realistic as I can for my display case, especially the movie figs.

Once uppon a time, in the first original RID line, we had vehicles with metalic paint, clear lights and windows, and rubber tires. These were just the regular deluxes at regular deluxe prices! I dunnow how the economics worked at the time, but if you want that level of quality for a deluxe figure, you have to go for some uber collectible line that sell figures at 80$ a pop.

Nice way to tie it in with RID producs ;) The funny thing is that even these brand new are still not too expensive.

The good old days. Hell, even as recent as the ROTF line, we had Sideswipe whose alt mode was completely painted in silver paint, complete with clear plastic headlights and windows, and color-accurate tail lights.

Yup, aka the Masterpiece line. For non-G1 toys, though, you'll either have to get handy with an airbrush/spray can, or commission a customizer for it.

couldn't agree more. the only one i have even considered buying is strong arm. the CGI for the show sucks a big one. The toys are a joke and just shells with robots wearing car stuff. the robot modes want nothing to do with the vehicle mode, way too much kibble, the gaudy stickers, a lot of bad kibble, and the list goes on. and bumblebee the leader of the autobots? i dont think so. everytime i think of bee as the leader i have flashbacks of the early TF:prime days of every store turned into a hive of yellow and DOTM days. Grimlock green? Hersey. (RID gets a pass because he looked nothing like grimlock and was not trying to be) on the plus side this show saved me a lot of money.

Christ so your problem with the show is that its not G1 enough?

And Bumblebee is not the leader of the Autobots he is just a leader of a small squad of 5.

I respect your opinion and I realize that I just wanted to know what you disliked about the show.

The problem with Prime is that it was trying to be dark but failed and just ended up being bland especially since most of the episodes were relic hunts which got boring fast.

That and no Autobots died while most of the Decepticons were killed or got rid of in ways that they wont return (Soundwave) Cliff doesn't count due to lack of time and being a 5 minute scapegoat and neither does Optimus since he is coming back anyways.

I also personally think that the animation is better then G1 and Animated and that its full of life unlike Prime that felt like Earth was deserted with barley any humans.

Thats just my opinion and I'm also not dissing you.

It's part of his look, but it's not his signature "thing," and certainly shouldn't break the figure. I can do without them, and I'm a stickler for show accuracy. Also, how in the hell does a spikey-haired ninja look like TFP Cliffjumper?

mirageandjazz1197 wrote:The problem with Prime is that it was trying to be dark but failed and just ended up being bland especially since most of the episodes were relic hunts which got boring fast.

Yes, and the monster of the week formula is just so much more interesting. Seriously, I quit tens of thousands of shows because they gave us crap-ass villains every episode. It's the most boring formula any show could come up with. It's especially worse when it takes up a lot of the episode's story. Teen Titans, for example, had a villain of the week concept. The difference is that TT tended to focus more on their characters first and their action story second. RiD, on the other hand, seems to only do this every other episode, and those are usually the stronger ones.

That and no Autobots died

Yeah, I wasn't happy about that either...

...when I was 13.

Then, I realized, "this doesn't matter."

while most of the Decepticons were killed or got rid of in ways that they wont return (Soundwave)

That's kinda the point of a villain. They're there to be a foil and to be foiled in the end. Besides, the only main Decepticon death was Dreadwing, and even he had more of a supporting role than anything else.

I also personally think that the animation is better then G1 and Animated and that its full of life unlike Prime that felt like Earth was deserted with barley any humans.

It was discussed before, but RID Grimlock may not even be THE Grimlock. We know Grimlock from FOC exists in the Primeverse through the Rage of the Dinobots comics written by Mairghread Scott, who is also involved in this show. It's obvious that Hasbro wanted a dinobot named Grimlock because of the movie, and they went with green as an homage to the previous RID Grimlock, or because AOE Grimlock was green-ish, or just because they felt like it. But the stark difference in appearance, origin, and personality compared to the other Aligned Grimlock and the the unlikelihood that a writer who has worked on both properties would let this difference slip by unmentioned suggests there are two dinosaur transformers named Grimlock in the Aligned universe: the one mutilated by Shockwave, and the one on Team Bumblebee.

And even if not, they're allowed to switch things up after 30 years.

I don't get it, the show is really good. I enjoy it (I'm 40) and my kids (7 & 3) love it too. Maybe you're in the middle demographic where you are just too cool for kids stuff, that's fine you should stick to other things that aren't kids toys or nostalgia service.

In discussing Prime and RID tone, Prime tried to go for a more serious take. Which, in comparison to Rescuebots, the other show, was probably necessary. I think going to a lighter tone is good. I think Hasbro is coming to a system of thinking now that works. The IDW comics represent a more thought out and mature take on Transformers, while the shows offer fun and excitement. Sorta like with Sunbow and Marvel...eh? Eh?? :)
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

Nobody likes a show that's serious almost the entire time and when they decide to joke it makes it awkward unless said jokes were made by Ratchet.

Seriously Ratchet, Wheeljack and Smokescreen were the only good Autobots in the show (Cliff maybe could of been great if he died in Darkness rising part 5 instead of part 1 in a wasting manner)

Optimizzy wrote:In discussing Prime and RID tone, Prime tried to go for a more serious take. Eh?? :)

Excellent comparison!

1: I prefer dealing with Bad guys with names that get captured then nameless Vehcions that get slaughtered like ants and make the Autobots look more violent then the Decepticons.

Plus unlike relics they aren't some magical device that's ignored for the rest of the show.

2: The hell is that supposed to mean is it some kind of insult?

3: Oh sure the villains had to be dealt with but many of them were just plain dumb especially since the only living cons are Megatron who has left the cons completely, Knockout who became an Autobot, Soundwave who is trapped in another dimension unlikely to come back, and Shockwave who the show tried to kill off only to put him in another scene before forgetting his existence.

Starscream was confirmed dead by his voice actor so hes gone unless they do the immortal spark crap.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.
