Except in the Earthrise case, Siege wave 5 WAS 2020 wave 1. Earthrise wave 1 is wave 2 2020, and so on. Wave 3 of Earthrise coming around the holidays makes sense since it is Wave 4 2020.

For Studio Series, they seem to be only doing 3 waves a year, with leaders in the first and last wave per year to spread them out appropriately. Overload coming out in September/October almost mirrors the wide release of DotM Prime from last year

Seige Wave 5 was given the official release date within 2019, made to ensure stock for the 2019 holiday season due to the line's popularity (aka more orders from retailers):

Which is the 2020 wave 1 timeline: early release to get stuff out for holidays, but many will not see stock until the new year.

It is how Siege wave 1 was, Siege wave 5, and PotP Wave 1. it follows the pattern

Its not the same thing. Early release of wave 1 still has a defined release date of January 1st. And not all stores get them that early, just some retail stores that dont care about going by those dates. Did BBTS get Siege before 2020 as early as retail did? I don't remember that being the case, but I could be wrong.

These, by contrast were actually slated for 2019. Meaning online stores and brick and mortar retail stores would have them for 2019 and not have to adhere to releasing them in 2020.

Which month in the year did BBTS/TFSource have Siege Wave 1 figures available and which month in the year did BBTS/TFSource have Siege Wave 5 figures available? I don't shop there so I wouldn't know but that would help settle this.

It’s technically an option, but I have an in-store-only Target gift card that would pay her off in full, (got it when I returned a spare helicopter Dropkick I got as a gift) that I specifically saved to use on her. I just hope that quarantine will end when she’s still on the shelf.

Heck, even Triple Changing and G1 style don't mix. The only recent Triple Changer I can think of that didn't have at least one sub-par mode was T30 Springer (and Sandstorm, for that matter).

Fully agreed. Roadbuster is a great sculpt, and I am stoked to get the full wreckers roster in armored up form!

Bee movie characters: I'm hoping Blitzwing follows the Optimus Prime route and only needs 1 good toy. Car Shatter, copter Dropkick, and VW Bee aren't very good, yet Jeep Bee, Jet Shatter, and car Dropkick are all stellar toys.

If there is 1 thing I am disappointed with in these, I would like a redo of Dropkick with a movie accurate triple changer body as a copter, so we actually have a Dropkick with the proper body/kibble like jet Shatter.

Offroad Bee is a pretty dang good toy, and definitely the best Bee-movie Bumblebee (including the Masterpiece).

also, the Offroad Bee has a thing I love about some recent figures: even though he has a fake robot mode chest, the real thing is right behind it, so the part ends up in the right spot, but there is a fake to make it more accurate. MP Dinobot is another similar example, and that toy also turned out great.

Heck, even Triple Changing and G1 style don't mix. The only recent Triple Changer I can think of that didn't have at least one sub-par mode was T30 Springer (and Sandstorm, for that matter).

Well, I find both of SIEGE Springer's altmodes good, and both of Cybertron Megatron's, but both those figures are using future/alien altmodes so they have wiggle room that most don't.

The G1 style does have issues with triple-changing, yes. But the movie style is even worse due to both the higher realism standard and the much greater complexity of the aesthetic. It's so unfriendly to triple-changing, that not only did it hurt the robot mode on one version of each figure... they had to give each altmode its own figure in the first place!

After playing around with all 3 deluxes, I have to say that Shatter is the standout from this wave of deluxes. Her robot mode is so accurate and cool, and she can pose pretty dang good, definitely better than her car self. and the jet kibble isn't really a bother, it's mostly movie accurate and comes off pretty nicely.

Roadbuster is pretty good, with a stocky robot mode and a pretty beefy robot mode. He really needed to be more involved in his transformation, but he still isn't bad at all. Shatter is just better.

Bumblebee is still pretty good, and the best Bee movie Bumblebee, but honestly, he needed to be a bit bigger to properly enjoy this design. Again, not a bad one, but just not quite as good as I think it could be.

Having seen prototypes, Shatter's car mode is kinda butt ugly thanks to the attempt.

I love their triple changer bodies, and their muscle car bodies. They made some excellent designs with those 2, truly awesome movie styled cons.

The biggest problems and differences between G1 and Movie Triplechangers is that the G1 characters start with two convincing alt modes and then try to build a bot somehow out of the in between transformation. Movie Triplechangers start with a bot mode that has elements of their alt modes and then fake the transformations. of course then you've got Movie Drift who is like, "yeah, I also turn into a helicopter" even though he doesn't have any visible helicopter parts (aside from the swords on his back). Never understood why they didn't just repaint a Springer figure, I guess they don't like crossing lines like that and are really attached to his realistic car alt mode.

To be fair, that's an extension of the general design process for the Diaclone Car Robots and Micro Change robots - they started with the real thing and built a bot into the pieces. I'd say another part of the problem is just the sheer difference between the altmodes (which impacts the movie characters too). G1 Blitzwing probably suffers the most of all Transformers on that account; his wings end up super chunky. The absolute worst though was the jet-helicopter design - that one was so janky Hasbro scrapped their plan to sell it as a Transformer.

I wonder if they could have been Duocons. The car transforms into the legs and crotch while the jet transforms into the torso, arms and head. 1 car, 1 flying vehicle, 1 bot for each of them. Yes, not true triplechangers, but closer than what they are now. The big question was how to market them? 1 package with 2 legends class figures that combine, kind of like Arcee, or a deluxe for each vehicle, which would have required the purchase of both parts. But in that case, it could have gone the Energon route, and the parts could have been mixed up.
