Hot Rod's looking a lot like Wildrider, but I can dig it.
What I can't really get behind are those eyes. Looks like the red bit's covering up where his eyes should be and the goggles we're seeing are just head-mounted lasers or something... I don't know, that's my only major issue with this guy.

There is not one thing about that bot that even resembles hot rod, looks like a generic background character youd see in a shot of cybertron. So sick and tired of this slap on a random name on a bot crap, how about taking the time and matching the vehicles you have with characters that would suit it then make the robot actually look like said character. Well, he's missing some of the most iconic detials of the character visually. No V spoiler. No arm pipes. No flame decco. Head design has the rough shapes of the forehead crests, and the bodywork gives him the same sort of chest and shins as the IDW version in the rudimentary shapes at least.

I'm excited. I'd love to see what they do with him. If it means I get to own a Magenta Lambo centenario toy with yellow and orange flames on the hood as some obscure repaint at some point, I'm happy.

I have only a passing interest in the bay movies outside of the characterisation of Murdermus Prime. So I'm fairly comfortable for them to do whatever they want.

Remember folks, you can't retroactively ruin good fiction or characters, by making a different alternate universe version of a character, in a completely different medium, that will probably get minimal screentime, have a different personality, and look completely different. Your childhood is safe.

If anything, it just means the kiddies will be more interested in the Hot Rod / Rodimus Prime character and we'll be more likely to get toys of him in the future. Hasbro will make a shitload more money off the Transformers brand and want to keep it going. And we don't even have to go see the film, or buy the movie toys. It's good for us. Win-Win.

G1 was 30 years ago and it's dead the only thing being reused are the designs and only in comics and toys things change and if you can't deal with it then find a new hobby.

I was less trying to be insulting and more trying to accurately describe his attitude ("new stuff ruins the old!!!1!"). "Geewunner" is just the easiest way in the TF community to describe someone who believes that new content (even if it is bad) can somehow retroactively "ruin" the old, original stuff.

I liked the first flick, didn't like the second, thought the third was acceptable and hated the fourth. I admit to being pretty tired of the movieverse, primarily because the humans are the main characters and the giant robots are just kinda there with minimal character development. Just not feeling any excitement over these films any more.

And plus the design isn't unique. He is clearly based on the bumblebee design and retweaked. Pretty sure the toy (if there is one) will either be a redeco of a bumblebee toy or share the same engineering for transformation.

Yeah, that makes way more sense to me than hot rod. This looks like a red robot version of bumblebee but with different tooling (since he is a different alt mode but similar robot mode) which is what Cliffjumper usually is.

Well, good they finally brought Hot Rod into the fold. I just hope he's not like how he was in the original cartoon in terms of behavior being like a diet coke version of Kirk from Star Trek: TOS, but then again Optimus in Bayformers is darker than his original incarnation by leaps and bounds and feels like a different character sometimes. Of course, with Bay, I'm not expecting anything cerebral and just a lot of action and generalized fun. I'll hope though for that change of course. Like I hope for a Transformers movie set on Cybertron showing Megatron and Optimus leading into the war with no humans and less lens flare and possibly explosions. Heh.

Like other transformers series cybertron, armada, energon, prime, animated most of them where bad,.

Let's not forget about movie iron hide , and ratchet there colors and chemicals mode in movie for anyone comparing in about horrid colors and car mode everyone like ratchet and iron hide , but everyone hated energon ironhide before people should complain they should compare previous versions of characters of comics and cartoons series they are different g1 self .

Hot could use little more red I like its new aged new time before transformers movies where all we Keats getting is toys shows, games,can't cartoon series now thanks to movies transformers get there own display at retail once again and people complaining we should get new director for this series look at Tim burton batman series bat nipples, gijoe retaliation characters are spot on in sequel but did make a lot of money as it should have comped to transformers he looks alien

Trying to find the eyes on that Boushh-esque head is driving me nuts. I assume it's the visor, but then right below it are these circles that look like eyes - which kinda fits with the idea he's BB's bro, but just look really wrong.

About that, I really liked Drift being a Bugatti. Its a car style we dont get a lot (the last one was cybertron Crosswise).

Oh boy, I can't wait for the G1 styled toy repaint that Hasbro will cancel at the last minute.

That will then be released as an asia market exclusive.
