Everyone complains about the AOE Leader Optimus toy for being an absolutely notorious shellformer - and rightly so - but it's designs like this that make me realise why. How would you have done a non-shellformer toy of the AOE Optimus design? Or this Optimus design? He has the smokestacks at the back, but... that's it.
Say what you will about the previous movie Primes - and I can say a lot - but at least you could get a toy that turned into a truck out of them. I don't think we're in for a good time toys-wise here.

I didn't even buy any of the toys from the last movie, save for a marked-down Snarl at Ross and that was just because it was my favorite dinosaur in my favorite color. A couple others were gifted to me, but they were all disappointments in the transformation area. All those figures just left me with a weird hollow feeling, they hardly felt like Transformers at all.

The skirts and lack of kibble make them look like weird Transformer/Gundam crossover characters. I personally like it. It's not a bad look for the movies, but for the toys it would look better as a five or seven inch figure than a Transformable vehicle.

ROTF Optimus only has some actual truck parts on his chest and lower legs and they found a way. Of course, it was a different time, but more recent example of achieving this look would be AOE Hound. He has totally different detail in Robot mode than Truck mode with only the arm panels left from the truck. Everything else is new. They did it hrough the genius idea of transforming him nside out where every detail comes from the oposite side of a panel. And thats great because it gives a good interpretation of these designs where all that robot detail is found inside the vehicle where the robot is disguised. And the robot is made from all the truck innards.
What I am trying to say is that there is a way, we just havent seen it yet for this Optimus.
Also, I think Hasbro gathered that we preffer seeing car parts since they gave Bumblebee back his car part chest.

Megatron looks very much like a minotaur.
He was very fine the last movie. Galvatron could have been a temporary name for Megatron, like a film's working title. That is my guess.

Given the new character's appearances, I think they struck a fine balance between the two different movie looks. Prime only looks the same because he's in space and can't find an alt-mode to scan.

If i didnt know that was megatron id think it was from some random anime, they really need to start making these guys look like transformers and less like megaman/gundam characters. Bumblebees back to his old generic self but at least it has some resemblance to a transformer.

But has Megatron ever really looked like himself in the movie verse?
i know the same can be said for most of em, but Megatron was always the one I felt worst about since it didnt look like a transformer. The others had alt mode parts on them even though they had odd headsculpts and pistons everywhere. But Megatron was just a big alien dude right from the begining and his main characteristic was that he looked like a giant metal skeleton, which always seemed odd to me. At least here he looks filled out. It's not as good as the Prime Megatron design which merged the movie aesthetic with G1 but I prefer it to the first film.
While I was never a G1 fanatic, I must say it pains me that movie megatron is the look kids attribute to the character and keeps being propogated:

Bee's reverted to his DOTM look with a new chest, but I'm actually ok with that. Hopefully he'll have a great deluxe figure!
Prime hasn't changed a bit, which isn't surprising, but I have a feeling that hasbro's going to re-release the AOE Leader class figure with maybe some different paint apps. Hopefully they go the ROTF route and make an awesome, complex leader figure.
Megatron's going to be like he always is, from the looks of things. I bet his figure is going to have some massive wings in robot mode that aren't there on his model in-movie.

I like that Bee got his wings back. His AoE self looked weird without them. But I'm happy they're back.
I love Megatron's look. I like the movie designs, and even if it looks like nothing it still looks cool

Bumblebee is essentially more of the same, which isn't a bad thing, just a tad...dull.
Prime is cool- I like the new Optimus design even if it isn't the most conducive to toys. Honestly though, had the AoE line had the budget/parts allocation of the ROTF line, I reckon we could have had a decent Prime from that design. Ironically enough the second Leader mold was ALMOST there; it just needed the backpack to fold up some more.
Megatron looks badass. The horns are just awesome. Only thing is, what is he going to turn into? The dragon from the poster perhaps? 'Cause that'd be SWEET.
If I had one problem with the art it's that it seems to be very similar to the AoE artwork- that is, the same stilted pose on every single character.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a blue repaint of whatever decent Last Knight megatron figure there is, to homage Straxus. Something about the silhouette of this megatron reminds me of the generations darmount/straxus figure.

I know that the new film designs may appeal to some, but I miss the old Bayformer designs, even if they were pretty alien (which would make sense in a realistic world).
This was the Movie design for Optimus I liked so much ever since Transformers was released, and I still do like it to this day.

I can really hope that his new Leader Class toy looks good after the designers rework on what his design is like and how it can be better translated in toy form.

Seibertronians, it looks as though there wasn't just one tidbit of Transformers 5 news today. In a video posted to the official Transformers Movie Facebook that kind of flew under our radars, we get a look into the filming of TF5, with Soldiers, helicopters, Michael Bay himself, and a small cameo by Josh Duhamel and Santiago Cabrera. Check it out below, and then tell us your thoughts in the comments! Is there some small detail we missed? Does this video make you want to see the movie any more or less? Please let us know!

For ages now people have been speculating what transformers that they would like to see in these live action movies....& one out of the list of names that has came up on quite a few occasions in Fortress Maximus, granted we kinda already know who's going to appear in 5 so Fort Max deffo isn't one of them, but moving forward of that in any of the future live action films the only way that i could see Bay(& yes! he'll prob still be director) introducing Fort Max is have him appear as a car(yes! you read that right) now funnily enough....Fort Max has actually been a car before

Transformers: The Last Knight - Filming Battles in Surrey, John Turturro, New Teaser Announced

A number of Seibertronians have been sending us notifications about a new set of photos and a clip regarding the new Paramount live-action movie - Transformers: The Last Knight - and we went and got them mirrored for you below! The images are from filming in Surrey, UK, and we see knights clashing on the battlefield, and some trademark Michael Bay explosions in the mix. The clip, on the other hand, shows the director himself having a final word about the project, and teasing the arrival of a first trailer in November/December - plus the return of franchise veteran John Turturro. Check it all out below!

I have no love for these movies.
If Bay-turtles pt 2 has any inkling of the future (moviegoers growing weary of crappy big budget action films), then I'm expecting this film to do less than the last Bayformers film.
Plus there are better alternatives next June.

I still say Hopkins could be playing Mara Al Utha, coz after the end of Madman's Paradise he disappeared & we dunno where he went? he could've ended up on earth in the guise of a human(Hopkins) but passes himself off to be a good guy(kinda what Mara Al Utha did to begin with as the Red Wizard(probably in The Last Knight he'll state that he's Merlin but in reality he's not) in decieving the Autobots) then later on we see his true intentions when he gets to Stonehenge & tries to open the Omega Lock(probably to destroy the world or something? or maybe use it to try to escape back to his own time/reality) Bay's no stranger of including the G1 cartoon elements into his movies previously! we had Megatron's Master Plan & The Ultimate Doom used before, so it's not too far of the stretch of the imagination that he may include more(this time...Madman's Paradise & A Decepticon In King Arthur's Court).
