Actually, I'd probably do just the Gold and red Flame for the Hood, and call it a day. Tho, by the looks of the chest, you will have to center it and cut to match the hood break lines. I wonder if you place it on altmode, and use a hobby knife, would it be easier to get cut correctly and centered???

I'd be interested to see if you do, do it.. how it looks and how you did it.

I'd love that! But dang it! I Have to find one available to purchase first!! Both Wal-Marts here near me are out!! Come on!! I guess my next stop after work will be Toys-R-us.. :BANG_HEAD:

Sheesh! Finding a Deluxe Hot Rod at Retail is starting to look like Finding that exclusive Star Wars Darth Maul back during Phantom Menace! No where to be seen, and when it was found.. stampede and fan battles in the isles..

Not saying Hot Rod's figure is that hot, but I think if they did a Leader Class that looks a lot like the modified version we already saw online.. we could have a Cabbage Patch store riot around X-mas.. Give us More Hot Rod!! I will forever by a Hasbro fan if they did it like this!!

Well if Wal-Mart is Selling it, any Case count on him? What's his deluxe case count ratio? Is he that extremely Rare? Sigh.. I may just have to break down and order him online.. I was trying to find him at retail which is most times a bit cheaper.. :-?

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Though even a flame like this looks a lil too 80s for such a modern car mode but it can work on a toy if not the real car. Not sure I want to 'waste' on my TR Hot Rod stickers on TLK Hot Rod when I like how TLK Hot Rod already looks (though I may paint over his red with the slightly more orange hue seen in the film). I just like black and orange-red for some reason.

Leader? :O Bit too big methinks. A lil guy like Bee got that only cos he's Bee. Hot Rod hasn't got that kind of recognition and popularity and we need Leader class figures of those who neeeeeed it more like Blackout. :P

We rarely get bigger than Deluxe for any carformers. The only exceptions that come to mind are T30 Springer - who is more of an armoured car than anything street-legal - and various Bumblebees because, well, Bumblebee.

Yea, I suppose Leader is a bit premature, unless TF 6 kills off Prime like in 86, and they make Hot Rod Rodimus Prime again.. if that happens, then a Leader Class would be more appropriate. You're right tho.. Blackout desperately needed a Leader Class.. but that ship sailed long ago me thinks. I will be on the lookout for hopefully a better Hot Rod, and hopefully in the far far future (cause Takara is working on a 10 year release schedule judging by the Masterpiece trickles we get for the movie line) since we have to wait for the 1st 10th Anniversary movie Masterpieces to run their course.. I guess Hot Rod is going to be awhile.

Yea, Bee has Recognition.. but I have to say, I really love this rendition of Hot Rod.. Almost got the same giddy kid feeling I had back in the 80s with the original. Tho less Confliction over him, unlike the original only because Prime was killed.. still going to therapy over that! LMAO!

I see the movies continue their penchant for making popular characters look very little, if anything, like they looked in the cartoons. Looking at this figure, it doesn't say 'Hot Rod' to me....

And the Human Alliance versions of Bee, Jazz, Skids, Mudflap, Barricade, Sideswipe and Soundwave. :)

Still hoping that Movie Edition thing Hasbro registered may include such items. They could do at least two releases of it (Blackout and Grindor... maybe three if including the strange Chopter from the Tiny Turbo range cos I do like his green colour scheme). There's certainly demand from many collectors for a Leader Blackout mold but dunno if enough to support the costs of producing it. Still amazed Brawl got a Leader class figure so early on in addition to his deluxe.

Yeah I like him. He's nothing like G1 Hot Rod at all but he's still a fun character with a cool design (I've even grown fond of the face since my initial reaction to it) and slick car mode and colour scheme and i love the time gun (seriously hasbro why you no include it?) and his partnership with Bee in the WWII scene is one of my personal fave moments from any TF fiction.

DeathReviews wrote:I see the movies continue their penchant for making popular characters look very little, if anything, like they looked in the cartoons. Looking at this figure, it doesn't say 'Hot Rod' to me....

No one said characters sharing the names of G1 characters have to resemble them in any way. Prime and Bee are recognisably similar is various ways to the G1 originals (Prime moreso) probably cos they are so iconic in the franchise. And hey I often would get disappointed the cartoon models didn't look much like the toys even when they were supposed to be the SAME character. Some fans felt the opposite way having to settle for toys that didn't look like their fave cartoon characters.

What the hell is with the $20 price point, walmart sells deluxes for under $16 and has been since they were released. Hot Rod was one of the few figures i was considering buying from TLK line but i refuse to pay $22(with tax) for a deluxe.

If it helps, Hot Rod is at least far better painted than the lousy redeco of the otherwise fine AoE Bee in the TLK line. :P

Seibertronian ScottyP has made us aware that the Transformers The Last Knight Leader Class Dragonstorm is now in stock over on Amazon.com!
Due to the notoriously spotty distribution of the Last Knight toy line, many collectors are looking for alternate online options to pick up the figures. We thought we'd alert you to one of these alternate options. The modern duocon is currently in stock at the time of writing for $50 USD, but it's probably not going to last long. Pick up yours now here!!

If you see this toy at physical retail anywhere, please report it to us under the sightings tab!

I'm kind of mixed on getting Dragonstorm as of now. The reviews proved that he wasn't as bad as I thought the set would be, both bots look good, and the combination of the Dragon mode is really good. The only issues I have are that I want to get other figures in the line, the potential QC issues some fans had, and I feel that Leader Class figures don't have the same bang for you buck bonus that the Leader figures from the past got. Maybe if I see Dragonstorm on clearance then I will get him with no problems.

Got mine from Toys R Us. There was only one left so I guess I was luck. Then after getting Dragonstorm out of the box, transform it to knights and back, 10 mins later the left head fell off. :BANG_HEAD: The fragile plastic inside the head is really an issue. I had to superglue it back on. It stays now, but the lower jaw cannot move because of the glue. So definitely be extra careful when buying this figure. Check the box and snap those plastic bands around the mouths carefully, transform it carefully, and play it carefully. Or just buy the mega one step. It's much more durable.
