Please, it looks much nicer, and doesn't have a backpack for days. Despite (again) being a deluxe, it manages to tackle the shape and style of hotrod while dealing with the kibble in bot mode, so - in my opinion - it is more successful, and certainly more desirable - for me personally - than that MP any day of the week, I like the Animated throwbacks in the car mode, very nice.
Most likely gonna get him, and possibly any remold they make of him (hoping for a)
I dunno, this Hot Rod looks like he might have a bit of a backpack, too.
Besides, the MP has an ab crunch. An ab crunch! What MP has that!?
My Lego-formers can ab-crunch, it's not difficultand it's hardly this figures fault that TT (a different company) didn't engineer they're figures with ab-crunch
besides, not many MPs' transformations could allow for an ab-crunch, and hotrod doesn't really look good doing it either, so there's that
I don't know if you've ever handled MP Hot Rod in hand, but he is definitely up there as one of the best MP cars, IMHO. Just packed with extras, transformation is great, and he's Hot Rod to a T.
I don't really like G1, so I don't have any MP's (would like MP Soundwayne though); but, it's strictly about how it handles itself as a tf, tr hotrod handles itself well, whereas mp hotrod crams it into a backpack - plus, tr hotrod'll only be $15

Well, I buy figures that I think look cool, which means a lot of things based on the 'boring' G1 stuff gets passed right on by me; that said, I love combiners, and I think this style works for me over all, I plan to get Crashbash, Apeface, Wolfwire, Skullcruncher, Getaway, Hot Rod, and Astrotrain.
You've gotta understand, that before CW, I had a very minimalist approach to buying figures because of that very point that you high-lighted, I do indeed foresee my purchasing taking a steep fall now.

...just curious, why don't you like G1?

Yeah, could you imagine a gen Armada O/P + Jetfire + Overload![]()
Would be awesome
SureShot18 wrote:Well Will, I don't personally don't think there is anything necessarily bad about him but he isn't very dynamic. The car mode is really sleek though so that's a plus. However the robot mode is rather blocky. It doesn't have the best articulation either and where it does have articulation its a little awkward.
The headsculpt isn't anything special either. I know it may sound like I dislike it but I don't really. It's just a figure that hasn't aged well and has become average by today's standards. Hope that explains at least my nit picks about him if not the collective whole(I doubt it does).

I'd really like to see an IDW spin-off toy line. It's time. I thought they were heading down that track with the amazing Ultra Magnus, but it seems like we veered in another direction of late. Here's hoping that they revisit the concepts at a later date. Man I'd love to see a more "IDW" looking Rodimus. At this point, I'm thinking an entire series ala Transformers Animated but with Alex Milne and Andrew Griffith at the helm instead of Animated's Derrick Wyatt.
Megatron Wolf wrote:im actually a bit disappointed, was hoping for a more g1 show accurate look not a hodgepodge of every rodimus ever. Dont get me wrong its not a terrible looking figure just doenst really scream hot rod to me

Wolfman Jake wrote:If we really are getting all the Autobot and Decepticon clones at some point, who thinks that Weirdwolf might get a retool as Pounce? Seems logical to me. I could see Mindwipe retooled as Wingspan too.

Nemesis Maximo wrote:Here's one you'll like, Will. Take CW Brakedown, but instead of effed-up proportions and harem pants, he's just got this stiff, blocky aesthetic. He had the same type of shoulders as the recent Skids fig, and he's got the knees of Classics Jetfire, where the swivel is found uselessly below the knee. Also, he has tiny, tiny fists with nonstandard 3mm fist holes, and no elbow swivel. He's also shorter than GenerTions TrIlbreAmer.

Since that photo was taken I've sliced off the 'kneepads' cos I have no use for their landing gear (not using the chopper mode for Hot Rod). And done some other slight mods.
